Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (with Pottercast audio commentary)- This was fun. I erg all Potter fans to begin to listen to Potter cast and most definitely there commentaries, which have been described as a cross between normal commentary, normal Pottercast, and a hint of MSTK3.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas- Amy inspired me to watch this. :) I enjoyed what I saw again (30 minutes in) until my mom wanted to watch something else in the living room last night. I finished it today while tree trimming. what fun!

A Dennis the Menace Christmas- This was on TV and I liked it. It had some problems (which made mom dislike what she saw of it on a earlier showing of the day) but it was fun, used some themes and cues of music of the '93 film (which is awesome music), and had perhaps the most grumpy George Wilson ever in that of Robert Wagner. By the way I love Wagner, Rickles, and Matthau so much I just can't pick who is my favorite!

Fred Claus- During more tree trimmin'.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three - a remarkable film that holds up after all these years. After hearing that Hollyweird is remaking this classic I had to watch it again, and I don't care if John Travolta and Denzel Washington are in the cast of the remake, they can't hold a candle to the original cast of Walter Matthau, Martin Balsam, Robert Shaw, and Hector Elizondo. Watch this one before you see the new travesty that Hollyweird is going to lay upon the poor unsuspecting movie goer.

PS: Avoid "The Day The Earth Stood Still" also. Went to an Advance Screening, and it sucks the big weenie. Keanu Reeves is NOT Klaatu and how can you have a "Day The Earth Stood Still" without the infamous words "Gort - Klaatu barada nek-to"??

:D

Tropic Thunder - Started out great, but I thought it lost its way about half way though. Movie overall was fair. Lots of quotable lines. - 7.0 out of 10.

The Dark Knight - Watched this for the first time this afternoon, and overall I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong it was good, but it didn't live up to the hype in my opinion. - 7.5 out of 10.

The Magic Voyage:It's nowhere near as magical as the title may indicate. I found the voice actors rather annoying, the animation was nowhere near on the same scale as some of the Disney movies from that year (perhaps due to different budgets). I also didn't care for the characters...except Bob the Beaver he owns :P

Freddie the Frog: Much better than the previous movie, the animation was better but not amazing. The characters were pretty good as far as voice acting. Although I was wondering what happened to the kingdom in the end since it's never really mentioned from what I remember.

Well, that is because it is simply overrated. I caught the first twenty minutes of Dark Knight and I thought it was boring as heck. Batman Begins wasn't that wonderful to begin with, so a "great" sequel would probably be hard to accomplish. It does not interest me at all and would take Mamma Mia! over that in a nanosecond.

TSoD, I think overrated is in the eye of the beholder. If you thought the first 20 minutes of The Dark Knight were "boring as heck", I have come under the impression that you're not a big fan of Action/Thrillers. I thought the whole film was fantastic, it kept me on the edge of my seat (Sorry for the cliche praise) and with each subsequent viewing, it just gets better. The character's wide depth of emotion always astounds me, especially Bruce Wayne and The Joker. Sure, Mamma Mia!'s a good fun musical that you can sing along to. I liked it very much. But I would still take The Dark Knight over it in a New York minute. :P

If anyone else reading this couldn't tell already, I LOVED this film. :D

The Day the Earth Stood Still - What was this one about? Oh, right... While this movie wasn't bad in the strictest sense, it was a pretty forgettable event. 6/10

The Dark Knight - After about a zillion viewings I'm still in awe of this movie. Epic, grounded and well-crafted, nitpickers may find the rare flaw or two but color me blind to them because this is the closest a movie - definitely this year - will reach perfection!

Pebble and the Penguin I'd forgotten how much I kind of like this film, the songs were pretty good (much better than Magic Voyage). The villains voice sounded a lot like Forte from BatB Enchanted Christmas. The Killer Whales sort of reminded me of Pinocchios Monstro scenes. All in all a pretty good film.

The Dark Knight for the third time since Tuesday's purchase. And this movie just gets better with each viewing. Heath Ledger is amazing as The Joker and he really makes the character his own. And I just read he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Dramatic Role. Move over Oscar, here comes "The Dark Knight", and Mr. Ledger is well deserving of at least a nomination if not a win.

The X-Files: I Want to Believe - was really impressed with this film when I saw in the theater, and now that I have it at home, I could sit back and watch and rewatch some of my favorite parts. I know that most 'X-Filers' didn't like this film because it was like the television show, but I thought it really set things up for the next movie very nicely. And contrary to what you have heard, Chris Carter definitely wants to do another 'X-Files' movie.

Just had a film festival night at a theater not too far from me. They showed a bunch of movies in limited release. I saw the following:

Milk: 9/10
Slumdog Millionaire: 7/10
Happy Go Lucky: 7/10
Doubt: 8/10
Rachel Getting Married: 8/10
The Reader: 6.5/10

That was a long night, but totally worth it.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith - "So this is how liberty dies; To thunderous applause" - The best of the 6 in my opinion. This movie somehow manages to overcome clunky acting and awkward lines and ascends into a tragic tale of a fallen hero. The second half of the movie is heart-breaking and at times extremely difficult to watch. I really can't explain how a movie with so many shortcomings still manages to shine as a masterpiece. Despite all those, this movie gets a high 8.5/10. Way to go, Lucas!

Alexander: The Final Cut - "Son of Zeus" - I always have a hard time reviewing this movie. No matter what I say, people will slam it and often will do so just because. To me this is an epic that was released ahead of its time. Yes, Alexander is portrayed as more than your usual heterosexual hero who has one true love and fights for truth and justice. Here you will find incest, ambiguities regarding his sexuality, immoral people, parents that could care less about what's right for their child and their kingdom, and so forth. This is a movie that explores hard truths and relishes in showing ambiguous emotions and situations. The story is told in a jumbled and non-linear fashion, much like Alexander's life, and as such may be a bit hard to follow. This is one of the decade's most underrated films, and I urge everyone to see it if they are willing to go in with a different mindset. 9/10

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - Not as great as the previous adventure, but still holds well and is a great film.

American Pie 2 - I liked it better than the first! Alyson Hannigan as Michelle is still the most hilarious/best thing about this series!
