I can also highly recommend Vol 2 of that series which includes all the Comicolor shorts - many of which have undergone comprehensive restoration.

Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy Uncensored - This is basically a bunch of "throw-away" and "flashback" gags like you'd see on Family Guy, without any FG characters.
The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T - with this and the Hellboy 2-disc theatrical version, I have all of the Gerald McBoing Boing cartoons, I think.
I picked up the Underdog Ultimate Collection, there is a different box set with other cartoons on it.
I managed to find Popeye the Sailor 1933-1943 (exclusive Sam's Club tin w/ vols. 1-3) , I haven't watched any yet.
I grabbed The Droopy Complete Theatrical Shorts.
The Animation Show vols. 1 & 2
Spike & Mike: Sick & Twisted Unprotected
I found Tom & Jerry Spotlight Collection volume 1, and fortunately, it was the uncensored version. I'm in the middle of watching this right now. I also picked up vol. 3, and it was uncensored except for a strange "zoom" that briefly hid a pygmy cannibal. He was visible shortly afterwards, as he chased Jerry, so it made no sense to "censor" him. I ordered vol. 2, and hopefully I get the "replacement" uncensored version of that, as well.
These sets were advertised as "uncensored and uncut" for the "adult collector", but when people got them, they found out there had been a lot of edited, redrawn, or re-voiced bits (mainly dealing with blackface gags, the "mammy" character, or American Indian or Chinese stereotypes. According to Warner, the inclusion of the edited versions was a mistake, and they offered a disc replacement program to get the unedited versions.
Unfortunately, Warner chose to leave 2 cartoons off the last set entirely, Mouse Cleaning and Casanova Cat.
Editing aside, these shorts from Hanna Barbera (the original creators of T&J) are great fun!

Yep, although except for the two missing cartoons and the minor zoom on His Mouse Friday, the other "objectionable" cartoons on this set are uncensored.Little Red Henski wrote:Warner Brothers admitted that they censored Tom & Jerry vol. 3 on purpose.
Considering I got vol. 3 at FYE for 4.48, I'm not going to complain too much, although I obviously wish they HAD included the two missing cartoons. From what I can tell, the other region sets of T&J cartoons have their own problems. The Laserdisc set might be good to track down.
I'm going to try and download the last two cartoons, and hopefully a non-zoomed version of His Mouse Friday.

Does anyone know of a good website or forum that talks about releases of theatrical shorts?
Some stuff I wish would come out:
- Tex Avery's MGM stuff besides Droopy, like Red Hot Riding Hood, and other stuff
- the Gene Deitch Tom & Jerry cartoons
- more MGM stuff, like Barney Bear, Screwy Squirrel, Spike, Spike & Tyke, and all the random single cartoons: http://www.bcdb.com/cartoons/MGM/Shorts/index.html
- A U.S. release of ALL of the Betty Boop cartoons, uncut
- more of the Famous Studios stuff. I need to figure out what is available.
and so on...

I've got all the Disney Treasures sets and...
A low-priced collection of Betty Boop Cartoons (2-discs at least, I forget exactly how many)
The first Popeye volume in the Best Buy exclusive tin
the set of Pink Panther theatrical shorts in the spongy case
The Droopy thetrical shorts set
The Disney American legends short compilation
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales v. 1, if that counts...
Got the 2 House of Mouse holiday DVDs, if those count
I have all three Spotlight Tom and Jerry collections
I've got Make Mine Music and the other Disney package films, if those count
I have a couple of cheap Superman '40's slim case/dollar DVDs
I have two Powerpuff DVDs that presents them like shorts I think: Powerpuff Bluff and The Mane Event
I've got a cheap collection of Christmas shorts "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Friends"
I've got Schoolhouse Rock 30th Anniversary Edition
I have the Classic Cartoon Favorites Chip 'n' Dale DVD
I have the Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites Holiday Stories DVD
I have the Disney Small World of Fun v. 1 DVD
I have the Roger Rabbit DVD that collects the Roger Shorts as bonus features
And, if they count, I've got the Huckleberry Hound Show v. 1 and a few other TV shows that basically were a collection of shorts like that.
Definitely, getting the Looney Tunes Golden Collection sets has long been a goal of mine. Hopefully I'll get the first set this year, FINALLY. They are just a bit pricey for me most of the time. Something else usually comes up they get me to buy instead, like something on sale or some new release I can't resist.

I picked up the Jazz Singer box set, although I don't know how many cartoon shorts are on that. I also picked up Tom & Jerry: The Chuck Jones Collection.

I need that Chuck Jones collection too! And, yeah, I have various movies with shorts as bonus features as well. There are a lot of Disney ones, of course, but there's also Casablanca and I think the Looney Tunes Back in Action and/or Space Jam DVDs I have have shorts, and a few other classic films I own...littlefuzzy wrote: I picked up the Jazz Singer box set, although I don't know how many cartoon shorts are on that. Having incomplete sets is frustrating. I have so many season 1 sets of various TV shows that I never got around to continuing, and often now I think I should have waited for a Complete set release, since many of them eventually got them (Batman the animated series is one of the few multi-set collections I managed to get all of already). I've been holding out to get the Flintstones in that sweet TV shaped complete series set, ha, and I'll wait for the upcoming Justice League set too (though it probably doesn't include Unlimited (I need to get Superman the Animated Series v. 3 ASAP though to complete that set). I recently picked up Animaniacs v. 2 and Pinky and the Brain v. 2 for only 6 bucks at Big Lots, but it was so frustrating that they didn't have V. 1 or 3 of either of them! Of course, really annoying is when they don't even put out the rest of a collection. Even the Disney Treasures have left some important shorts unreleased...

I may be wrong, but I think I heard that the Flintstones TV box has the discs packed in cardboard sleeves. Or, maybe not... Maybe it was just that there wasn't any extra stuff included, and I found several of the volumes at Big Lots...
There IS a complete box of Superman coming, you might do about as well to get the complete set, and sell off the volumes you have.
The Justice League set has Seasons 1 & 2, and Unlimited 1 & 2.
I found Animaniacs vol. 3 for $19, and then I found out that vol. 4 is still MIA. Warner Bros. need to release that soon! I got the first two at Big Lots, along with Pinky & the Brain 1 & 2. PatB 3 is still pretty high... I think that is the last volume, though.
Speaking of Animaniacs, etc., I really want Histeria! on DVD.

Oh! I have a terrible Big Lots (and an only slightly better one an hour or so away). Living on the border of a whole other country, trying to get bargains before they are all gone is terrible, and I found out really late about the 6 dollar TV show sets when they had them that week. I only managed to get "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" v. 1 (a show I knew about from early Cartoon Network but never really watched), Animaniacs 2 and Pinky and the Brain 2, Night Court 1, Drew Carrey Show 1, and some show called "The War At Home" s.1 just because the daughter on the cover was such a hottie, ha. I found out later they had some majorly good stuff that I missed out on!!! So frustrating. I did see the Dukes of Hazzard sets there, and I wish I'd gotten them, but I was put off that they only had the later seasons... I like to start from number one, though I couldn't resist the Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain.
Yeah, Hysteria would be cool! I never got to see much of that show, but I'd definitely pick it up. I did get both seasons of Freakazoid right when they were released. And I know, that stinks about them not releasing all of Animaniacs. I so wish they would finish what they start. That was so annoying with Gargoyles and Lizzie McGuire, and all the other Disney Shows too... That Muppet Show season 4 better come out! I want that Star Wars episode! I still need season 3 though, ha.
I don't know, it'd be easier for me just to get Superman v. 3 than go through the trouble of trying to sell them. Where do you sell DVDs? That's great about the Justice League set though! I'm definitely getting that. Hope they do a Teen Titans set like that too, and Batman Beyond. I'm more complete series minded now, though I have never really bought any big complete series sets. spending 100 bucks all at once is still a big deal for me, ha. Well, I can deal with the cardboard sleeves (though that sucks) in the Flintstones complete set, but if there are extras missing, that really bites. I love the case though, but not at the cost of extras (enough to deal with the paper sleeves though).
The worst thing was going to a couple of Big Lots stores on vacation and finding all these TV show sets, like Josie and the Pussycats and Pebbles and Bamm Bamm, for 6 bucks and even 3, but I never did find v. 1s of Animaniacs or Pinky, and I never found anything else that I didn't already have. I even saw the first collection of Popeye shorts, which I already have, but no volume 2, which would have been nice...
One thing's for sure though, Big Lots is a goldmine for the DVD collector. I only wish I had known sooner about that TV show sale week and had more cash to spare then (but I was taking a trip that week too...).
