Disney's 2-Pack Movies: In. Gadget, Air Bud, Abs Minded Prof

Post by TheSequelOfDisney »

I was looking through the DMR website and there are more movies that are being released in a 2-Pack with their sequel along with "Mulan" and "Mulan II." These include: Inspector Gadget/Inspector Gadget 2, The Absent Minded Professor/Son Of Flubber and Air Bud Spikes Back/Air Bud 7th Inning Fetch all available for purchase on September 16th. I can't get the pictures, but the DVD covers can be seen at the left end of "Coming Soon On Disney DVD."

If I would purchase any of these it would be "Inspector Gadget/Inspector Gadget 2" simply because I love these these movies (well at least the first one) and would probably be a better deal than buying both of them separately (except for the fact that they will probably have minimal/no bonus features).

I wouldn't mind getting the Absent Minded Professor/Son of Flubber set, but if Son of Flubber is in its modified aspect ratio again I'll have to pass. Of course, I'd prefer if those movies got Special Edition treatments...but that's very unlikely to happen.

And those Air Bud movies suck. Give me the first three any day of the week.

A word of warning to whoever wants these two-movie collections: it's the old barebones DVDs, not their subsequent Special Editions.

Wow, that's odd. Wonder why they didn't choose to include the SE for Dead Poets Society, it's the better film of the two, IMO.

When it comes to these 2-packs, Disney seems to be using the current "cheapest" edition on the market. The SE for Good Morning Vietnam has a retail of $14.99, same price as the barebone edition, were as the SE of Dead Poets Society has a retail of $19.99 and the retail of the barebones is $14.99. So Disney picked the cheapest ones and through them together, and that's how we got this odd release.

Woah, seriously?

Why are those DMR titles? That's messed up. Why couldn't the other two-movie sets be like this? (I could have seriously racked up on points with those.)

(Athough the Lizzie/Drama Queen set is a perfect match - two films that are Ultimate FAIL.)

The only one I would get would be the Angels In/Out set (because I actually enjoyed those).

*sigh* Thanks for the update! This is interesting.

I wouldn't mind getting the Huck Finn/Tom and Huck two-movie set, but T&H is in fullscreen, blegh. Huck Finn by itself is rather cheap these days (and was part of the $5.99 sale at Best Buy, though I didn't get a chance to pick it up) so I'll pick it up on its own instead.

And I'd rather have Special Editions of The Color of Money and Cocktail than a stupid two-movie collection.

Does anyone know if these, especially the "That Darn Cat" double feature, have lost anything from their solo releases?

Odd how they decided not to pair "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" with "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves".

Why? I think it makes more sense to pair the second and third film rather than the first and third film.

Oh, it was the third film??? I didn't know that.

I was also going by similarities in subject matter.
