"Sesame Street" is such a huge part of many of our lives. We watched it growing up and have fond memories of it. YouTube has a bunch of classic clips that we love.

This thread is to discuss and reminisce and to share stories and videos and memories.

Sky Syndrome mentioned Follow That Bird in a Disney Channel thread, and that kind of inspired me to make this thread. I love Follow That Bird. It is such a sad movie...I'm not saying that it stays sad throughout the whole movie, but even watching it now, I cry when the movie starts...I can't help it.

Then there is Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is another "Sesame Street" movie that I grew up with. Here is a clip that made me cry growing up:

And then, of course, there is the show, "Sesame Street". Here are some of my favorite songs from the show. The first one, of course, made me cry when I was little (and sometimes still does). Apparently "Seasame Street" just makes me cry. I can't help it.

And then there's a clip that Bobby has mentioned to me before but I don't remember seeing it. He says that Snuffy has a giant meatball, and it is about to roll over Elmo. Snuffy steps on the meatball to stop it from rolling over Elmo, and Snuffy says, "You know how the saying goes: Friends are better than meatballs," or something like that. I really want to watch it, but I haven't had luck finding it on YouTube.

I never watched Sesame Street as a kid. It just always seemed to juvenile for my liking.

Though as a teenager I developed an obsession with the Count :"1 Bats AHAHAHA... 2 Bats AHAHAHA.... And so and so forth.

I had forgotten about that one, but I do remember it now! I agree- it is really funny!

It is funnier than it probably was intended to be!

It wouldn't be a "Sesame Street" thread without mentioning a classic pair that many have enjoyed over the years. One's a bit aloof and carefree, while the other is a bit of a hard-ass who still puts up with him. They feature together in many shorts, and like many comedy duos, have a shorter fat one and a taller skinny one.

I am referring, of course, to that incomparable duo...

Barbossa, that "Near and Far" clip cracked me up!! I used to have a Grover stuffed toy when I was a kid. I wonder what ever happened to him.

I always liked his "Super Grover" segments.

I have volume one (and hope to get volume two soon) of the Sesame Street Old School DVD's. They provide a glimpse of what the series and characters were like in the very beginning. For example, Oscar was originally orange instead of green and Big Bird originally had a slightly smaller head and was kinda goofy.

I love the C is For Cookie, I sing that all the time when I have cookies. I also remember the Count Von Count. Aside from that that's all I really remember aside from various character names. However my Grandma does have a tickle-me-elmo that's rather hilarious.

Amy, you probably don't remember the clips of "Sing" because the most popular version (I think they even wrote it) is by the Carpenter's with the lovely voice of Karen Carpenter. That's probably the version you know.
I don't know however if the Carpenters ever appeared on Sesame Street.

This thread is so great!! I've always loved Sesame Street. Many of those clips are new to me though, since every country where Sesame Street airs has its own version of Sesame Street, so we have some of the same clips, but also different ones and some different characters.

Oh, thanks, Dottie! I thought I knew it from "Sesame Street", so I wonder if there is a newer clip (meaning from the late '80s or early '90s) that used that song...but I'm sure I must've heard the Carpenters' version before, too.
