Are you missing any WD Treasures? Any you deliberately left?

Post by littlefuzzy »

I managed to get the first few waves when they came out, so I'm glad I found them before they reached insane secondary market prices. I plan to have the complete series one day, especially since I had waves 1-4 complete.

Due to money shortages, I haven't completed waves 5 on yet, although most of them seem to still be available at online retailers. I'm missing 10 sets total, that is probably somewhere around $250 or so... :(

Here's what I'm missing right now:

Wave 05 - Dec. 06th, 2005
Disney Rarities: Celebrated Shorts: 1920s-1960s
The Adventures of Spin & Marty: The Mickey Mouse Club

Wave 06 - Dec. 19, 2006 - I'm missing the ENTIRE WAVE! :o
More Silly Symphonies Vol. 2
The Complete Pluto Vol. 2
Your Host Walt Disney
The Hardy Boys

Wave 07 - Dec. 11, 2007
Disneyland: Secrets, Stories, & Magic - I will try to get this one soon.

Wave 08 - Nov. 11, 2008
Dr. Syn: The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh - I think I am going to get it this week.

Walt Disney Legacy Collection Wave 1 (and only wave?)
True Life Adventures Vol. 3: Creatures of the Wild
True Life Adventures Vol. 4: Nature's Mysteries

What sets are you missing, and why? Did you miss out on the early sets, are you missing sets that are still currently available, or are there sets you decided to skip on purpose?

I actually don't like to brag....however I have every Tin wave one through wave 8..and I got them rather quickly...now true I (in shame) admit I have not watched half of them but I had this gut feeling that I better jump on the wagon or else there would be no second chances the following Years...and I also admit they are not minty minty but hey it's kinda like an antique dealer asked my mom one time regarding a 1970 teal Easy Bake Oven

Antiques Dealer - Is it new and still in the box...

My Mom - Heck No...there was a concept that toys be played with and used not sealed in a box..

I share my mom's belief movies are meant to be watched toys are meant to be played with and that's that...(although maybe that's why I am trying to meet ends means..)

anyway.. back on topic of the treasures

Now through the 8 Waves of treasures there have been differ methods of getting them...whether it be a Christmas present via my parents or as I call it "Treasure Hunting" This year is the first time I can honestly recall that I ordered them via online via amazon...I just didn't feel like Treasure Hunting and I don't receive many Christmas Parents since I am young adult (21) and I don't drive because I don't have/want a license so I went with the most safe choice...www.amazon.com

Here's what I'm currently missing:

Wave 1

Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 1
Silly Symphonies
Disneyland USA
Davey Crockett: The Complete Televised Series

Wave 2

Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 1
The Complete Goofy

Wave 3

Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 2
Walt’s Tomorrowland

Wave 4

Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 2
The Complete Pluto Volume 1

Wave 5

The Chronological Donald Volume 2
The Adventures of Spin and Marty
Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox

Wave 6

More Silly Symphonies Volume 2
The Complete Pluto Volume 2

I've got 13 of the 28 sets. I started collecting these late because I was going to college so I didn't have much money. The only two waves I have complete are 7 and 8. I do eventually want to get the whole series, but wave 1 is going to cost me a small fortune. The first one from this list I do want to get is Donald Volume 2.

As for the Legacy Collection series (True Life Adventures), I missed those too. They were in limited supply at local stores and were on the shelves for only about two weeks around here. I also want to get this set, along with any of the new DisneyNature movies that will be coming out.

I wasn't going to get the Spin & Marty, Elfego Baca, Mickey Mouse Club and Hardy Boys sets, but I relented to my urge for completeness when the US vs AU dollar exchange rate was favourable back in July and it seemed like too good an opportunity to pass. So now all I'm missing are the live action Treasures from Wave 1. If I could find a seller who was (a) offering them in tins, (b) not asking silly money, and (c) shipped outside the USA, I could be tempted, but thusfar the stars have not been in conjunction.

And obviously I haven't received any of the Wave 8 titles yet due to the time it takes to get them from there to here, but apparently they're all somewhere in transit.

Me to, but I would favor that they would only even up numbers as the higest set has 250000 tins. so set that is 39500 only should then get adiditonal 210500 tins. and set with 150000 tins should get adiditional 100000 tins.

I have them all. Yes, every Treasure. I'm sure there may be a fair few others like me heh. Waiting on wave 8 to arrive in the mail. I started getting them with wave 3, and bought waves 1 and 2 from people on eBay.

I HAVE THEM ALL BUT DAVY CROCKETT.....and thats only due to it becomeing so valuable on the second hand market so quickly! I wanted it but Santa didnt bring that one to me for Christmas that year.

To those missing volumes I highly recommend you complete your collection. I am a huge fan of this series as each volume is a time capsule that upon viewing takes you to another time. Also the history of the Disney Company that is offered here is priceless!!! There are no guarantees we will see this material offered again in our lifetimes on any other home entertainment format.

It's not so much (in my case) a problem of wanting to complete it, it's a matter of tracking every last one I'm missing down and having the money for it. Not an easy task considering I only have 9 Treasures total

Anyways I'm missing

Wave 1

Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume 1
Silly Symphonies
Disneyland USA
Davey Crockett: The Complete Televised Series

Wave 2

Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 1
The Complete Goofy
Behind the Scenes At Walt Disney Studio

Wave 3

The Chronological Donald Volume 1
Walt’s Tomorrowland

Wave 4

The Mickey Mouse Club
The Complete Pluto Volume 1

Wave 5

The Adventures of Spin and Marty
Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox

Wave 6

More Silly Symphonies Volume 2
The Hardy Boys, The Mickey Mouse Club

Wave 7

Disneyland: Secrets, Stories, and Magic

Wave 8

Mickey Mouse Club Presents Annette
Dr. Syn The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh
Chronological Donald Duck Volume 4

:( So many to find, any tips on where to look or how to track them down without buying off the internet? *Has no credit card*

YEa I understand that. The only reason I have all but one is because I got most of the early ones as gifts. I understand these are pricey collections (alto for what you get they are a steal of a deal) and that its not always easy for evereyone to get them all at once. what I meant in the above quote tho was if you can get them all.... you should.

NOW for your question: I would recommend you just look online. Dont assume that because its an online store that you need a credit card to make your purchases. Amazon.com, which still has MANY of the treasures you need, will allow you to pay directly online with your Checking account OR you can be billed later for your purchases and send them a check at a later time. I SEE THAT DONALD VOL 4 IS CURRENTLY ON SALE FOR ONLY $20! U may want to consider making this new wave a priority due to the low number of volumes produced. Dr Syn in particular I predict will sell out rather quickly due to its obvious popularity. I hope this helped and good luck in your TREASURE hunting. :)

I am lucky because I have every Disney Treasure that I want. I remember buying copies from the first and second wave, before I even had a DVD player, because I knew these were something to jump on. The ones I am missing, below, are DVD's that I really have no interest in, having not grown up with these shows.

Wave 1
Davy Crockett

Wave 4
Mickey Mouse Club

Wave 5
Spin & Marty
Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox

Wave 6
THe Hardy Boys

Wave 8
Dr Syn

I have all except the Davy Crocket, Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox, and Dr Syn. It's not that I can't find these, it's just that i'm not interested in them as the animated shorts and the MMC serials that i'm more familiar with.

I've got the two Silly Symphony tins, the first color Mickey Mouse tin, and the Disneyland: Secrets, Stories, and Magic tin. I might find some of the other sets interesting, but they are not anything that I need to own.

I have them all except:
Davy Crockett
Tomorrowland
Elfego Baca
Dr. Syn
Oswald

and that's due solely from lack of interest.

Agreed to a certain extent a-net-fan, Tomorrowland is one set that EVERY Disney fan should have, it's extremely fascinating and has lots of really rare content (like Walt's EPCOT film in full) that you just won't find anywhere else. I'm noticing a lack of love for live-action stuff, but some of you should give them a try, you just might like them. Especially Dr Syn which is in such good quality right now.

I agree Dr. Syn is great. I finished watching parts 2and 3 yesterday. The restoration looks fantastic.

For those unfamiliar with Dr. Syn, think of it as an 18th century Batman, with a bit of Robin Hood. Instead of riding a Batpod, he rides a horse. Instead of fighting the Joker, he steals from the king of England. Instead of fighting Dr. Crane, the Scarecrow, he is the Scarecrow! 8)
