(A commercial appears on Disney Channel)
Zac Efron: Hi Kids, just here to tell you that High School Muiscal 2 is getting re-released to Blu-ray, with some way cool bonus features!
Flanger-Hanger: You bastard! How dare you do a High School Muiscal re-release before even putting out The Rocketeer, Dick Tracy and Condorman to Blu!
Zac Efron: Who Are you? And what the hell is Condorman!?
Flanger-Hanger: Take that Mister "I Don't want a Better Edition of The Black Hole!" *punches camera man next to Zac*
Zac Efron: Why did you punch him? And how did you get passed security?
Flanger-Hanger: Less questions, more releases! And I asked the guy and he said it's alright.
Disney CEO (Snow White screams): I'll handle this Zac.
Zac Efron: Yes master. * filming crew puts him back in his cage until HSM 3 is released*
Dinsey CEO: You see, son, No one cares about anything we did in thee past, so there's no real point in releasing older films. Do you understand? I'm sure you forum friends would agree.
Flanger-Hanger: Ya, sure. You heard him!
*UD members charge and attack Disney CEO, Zac breaks free of his cage*
Zac Efron: I'm free! I'm free! *falls into hole in ground* Dangit!

Disney is sending in the troops. The company will release five “platinum” titles from its library in the Blu-ray format over the next two years, hoping that classic animated movies will spur wider interest.
The films are “Pinocchio ,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ,” “Fantasia,” “Fantasia 2000 ” and “Beauty and the Beast

That's horrible news...Since when is Fantasia 2000 worthy of "Platinum" status ? So it will probably be...
2009
March - Pinnochio
October - Snow White
2010
March - Fantasia/Fantasia 2000
October - Beauty And The Beast
2011
March - Alice In Wonderland
October - The Lion King
That's not really news, they are just repeating the same pattern and adding in movies that were never part of the Platinum line up as filler. I'm willing to bet that each release will slowly get worse and by time Beauty And The Beast is set for release they will be right on par with the recent Platinum releases... horrible.

Wow, fantastic find jrboy! This confirms the schedule Joe posted last year. Any doubters left out there?
I admit a tiny portion of me is worried that the quality of these releases will suffer as a result, but I'm going to remain optimistic. I wouldn't fret about Aladdin just yet. Remember that they're only mentioning up to Beauty and the Beast. If those five titles debut on BD in the next two years ('09 and '10), then we'll probably see Aladdin in 2012 (with Lion King and Alice in 2011).

personally i think the fact that fantasia and fantasia 2000 are being considered platinum titles is kind of ridiculous. they are in no way extremely popular. and no child in their right mind would choose them over snow white or beauty and the beast. personally i think beauty and the beast should be released after pinocchio to give a more modern title a go then go to another old classic.

I can totally see that happening, which is rather disturbing now that I think about it.

Even though "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and "Beauty and the Beast" are being re-released on Blu-Ray as Platinum Edition titles, I don't necessarily believe that they will be re-released in the Spring/Fall slots. Or at least, I hope not.
It just pisses me off, I'd really like to finish off my Platinum Edition collection. I already feel a little gyped with Sleeping Beauty having the fall slot this fall, since I already have the Collector's Edition from 2003.
Since "Snow White" and "Beauty and the Beast" have already been released on Platinum Edition, and there probably won't be an overwhelming amount of new bonus features offered on the re-release, they might not even be released in the Spring/Fall time slots.
Basically - I would rather see a Platinum Edition of "Fantasia" before I see "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" re-released.

We might see a Blu-Ray release of "Aladdin", but it still seems to have been dropped from the Platinum Edition line. Remember, the German Platinum Edition removed all traces of Aladdin ever being part of the collection.Disneykid wrote:Wow, fantastic find jrboy! This confirms the schedule Joe posted last year. Funny, you'd think right brained children would pick Fantasia and left brained kids would pick something like Donald in Mathmagic Land.Escapay wrote:Well, maybe all the children will be using their left mind instead.nomad2010 wrote:no child in their right mind would choose them over snow white or beauty and the beast.

I think there must be some kind of mistake, Fantasia 2000 can't be a platinum release, otherwise we'd expect 3 PE's each year from 2010.
I'm very exicited about getting them on BD, I also hope that they decide to make a seperate classic animation BD line so I can get my hand on Hercules, Mulan, TBC, etc. on BD.
Do you think that after Sleeping Beauty comes out they'd release some movies like that on BD ? BTW I found out that it only takes about a month to convert film-reels into Blurays, so i'm guessing this won't be a problem.

I suspect Fantasia 2000 is getting the de facto Platinum treatment because it's not as popular as the original film and will sell better alongside or packaged with Fantasia than it would if released separately on a different timetable.Jack Skellington wrote:I think there must be some kind of mistake, Fantasia 2000 can't be a platinum release, otherwise we'd expect 3 PE's each year from 2010.
Besides, Fantasia 2000 is not a sequel in the traditional sense. If the original film had been a box office success we'd likely have seen it regularly re-released in rotating repertory with new sequences appearing in each new release---which was the original concept. If that were the case, Fantasia 2000 would only be the latest of a half-dozen subsequent iterations of the film, and the first BD release would simply be titled "Fantasia," including every segment ever released (and seamlessly branched so that the viewer might create a favorite individual cut of the film). If only...

That was really funny, and that was the best part
I thought he"ll be out only when he and Raven will make a Wish Upon A Star clip for the Pinocchio PE? (And then Miley will make a Something's There clip for Beauty And The Beast PE and Jonas Brothers will sing High Ho in the Snow White PE).
