Titanic starring Leo,Kate Winslet might see Blu Ray end 2009

According to our sources, there's also an outside chance that you MIGHT see Titanic on Blu-ray before the end of 2009. Keep your fingers crossed.

Pshaw, forget Titanic! The Rumor Mill also mentions THE TEN COMMANDMENTS for 2009! It's The Ten Friggin' "God will give him a name" "Fill the ark with water and sink it into silence" "Whoever I choose shall have my crown and Nefertiri" "Oh Moses, Moses, you stubborn, splendid, adorable fool!" "What is she to you? / An old woman" "Beauty is but a curse to our women" "We do not dress in gold and fine linen, strength and honor are our clothing." "Do you hear laughter, Rameses? Yes!" "Bring it back to me, stained with his blood. / I will, to mingle with your own!" "You couldn't even kill him. / His God IS God" "Those who do not LIVE by the law shall DIE by the law!" Commandments!

:float:

Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Titanic in hi-def.

Seems like it's one of those movies people either loved or hated. I'm actually somewhere in the middle and can enjoy it for what it is. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing in hi-def even though I know a lot of people that would make fun of me for it. :P

Then again, I haven't the equipment for watching anything in hi-def anyway.

I know, I flipflop often on my thoughts towards it. I certainly liked it a lot more when I watched Titanic: The Jack Edit a few months ago. Tighter film, no more present-day stuff, all from Jack's point of view. Made for a better story, IMO.

I have to admit I love Titanic despite how insanely easy it is to make fun of. I'll definitely be buying it on BD. I just hope that edition has some sort of comprehensive documentary. The current DVD is excellent, but I was frustrated at how scattered and fragmented all the features were. Wasn't there some big documentary produced for that DVD that ended up getting the axe supposedly because James Cameron didn't like how it painted him as a director? That's somerthing I'd love to see.

I'm also really excited for The Ten Commandments and Breakfast at Tiffany's. I didn't think either of these would go high-def so soon. As I said in the Paramount Centenniel thread, I'll wait for a boxed set of Audrey Hepburn films since I'd like to upgrade all of my copies (and get a new one or two) at once. I hope WB will try to steal some thunder by releasing My Fair Lady in high-def.

As the owner of many Biblical films, I'm ashamed to admit that I've never owned The Ten Commandments on any format (don't send the plagues my way, Albert!). Don't get me wrong; I really enjoy it. I guess the campiness just sort of makes it hard for me to re-watch. It's a film I can only see once in a while, whereas I can watch other Biblical films like Jesus of Nazareth ad nauseum. That's probably why it's never been a big priority for me to buy. I think this is the opportune time to finally own it, though.

2009 is looking to be such a freaking fantastic year for Blu-Ray. There are just too many coming for me to list, but I'm going to end up bankrupt by this time next year.

Yes. It was produced and completed, but at the last minute, Cameron decided that it wouldn't be included on the DVD.

Also, DiCaprio was supposed to participate in the extras (new interviews, commentary) but scheduling prevented him from doing so.

So, if we're lucky, the Blu-Ray could include the nixed documentary (come on, Cameron, we all know what a pain in the ass you can be) and maybe some newly shot stuff with Leo, or a commentary with him and Kate.

Don't worry I've never even seen the movie despite the fact my family watches it on and off.

*Prepares to catch Scaps jaw as it drops*

Anyways, I don't think I even own a hi-def player, or Blu-Ray (I know that one for sure) when it comes to my t.v, vcr, dvd player etc. I just don't get it  I can turn them on and off, hit play, stop, the menu button and the fast forward/rewind but outside of that I'm more clueless than Alicia Silverstone in the movie of the same name. :P

I'd love to get Titanic on any format really, but on hi-def/blu ray would be cool seeing the ship sink etc.

You gotta see all that historically correct crockery and napkins in HD. Or else you just can't appreciate Cameron's "vision" (because he sure had no character or storytelling vision).
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
