Disney Pre-Anniversary

Post by Sulley »

I'm leaving on a vacation (woohoo! :donald:  :goofy: ) tomorrow and won't be back until Friday or Saturday (which means I'll probably have a LOT of post-reading to do). Anyway, Wednesday, July 2, is the 17th anniversary of what I think is an underrated classic, The Great Mouse Detective. I thought it was very clever to have a story about a detective mouse who lives under Sherlock Holmes' house and even more entertaining than the previous clever Disney mouse story of having rodent representatives of a Rescue Aid Society from all around the world meet under the New York UN Building (each mouse traveled with a corresponding human from their country :D ). Anyways, I'm geting off topic. The Great Mouse Detective is in my opinion a terrific film with a villainous Professor who has both evil and humor (always good bad-guy traits) and it is the only Disney film which I would like to see a sequel. I'm glad Disney released it to DVD last summer. Happy Birthday, Basil, Dawson, Olivia, and, of course, Professor Rattigan!!! :D :mickey:
What would this wretched world be like without Disney?

I just saw & bought The Great Mouse Detective DVD recently, and it instantly became one of my faves.
You are right - it mixes excitement and humour perfectly.
Happy birthday Basil & crew....
