Well, i was about to defend the music video by saying something like "some people must enjoy them" or "kids probably fancy them", but I just found out that Disney didn't cast my friend in the video. Now I have even more reason to hate this video MUAH HA HA HA!

Apparently as I posted in the Kingdom Hearts thread somewhere Megan Martin is also voicing Namine in the KH Re COM USA edition as well

As for the bonus materials, they sound fantastic. If you think about, this is the last Platinum with mostly new features. Snow White and Fantasia will undoubtedly port over most of their previous DVD content as will distant re-releases like Beauty and the Beast.

Well, did you forget Cinderella never got an audio commentary? And they'll probably forget the ESPN feature. Bambi might get a real audio commentary too, even if the Story Meetings feature was great and well recieved, like Sleeping Beauty got a new commentary. Hm, wonder if they'll all get new commentaries.

But there's always new stuff they're finding for the films, and of course there's the definate chance they're always holding back stuff to release later. Which is smart, to get people to keep buying the same film over and over! The ones who don't want every single feature they can get will have to settle for buying the best presentation of the film, I guess, though that gets better, too.

Oh, I'm not saying the BDs/DVDs will be clones of their previous editions. Sleeping Beauty proves that point already. I'm just saying that Pinocchio is the last Platinum to pretty much have its material created from scratch. Even if the following Platinums add to their originals like Sleeping Beauty, those original releases were so comprehensive that at least 3/4 of that material should be ported over. There's always room for improvement, and I fully expect re-releases of titles like Cinderella and Bambi to have new content, but that percentage will likely be outweighed by recycled material.

Not to mention the deleted songs "Never Smile at a Crocodile" and "The Boatswain's Song", both of which appear on the soundtrack CD but not on the DVD!

Plus, they can also include:
-A new commentary to supplement (not replace) the excellent 2002 audio documentary/commentary

-A text commentary

-An Isolated Music track

-A real in-depth documentary, not the old one that's been used three times already. It still baffles me that the idiots in charge over at then-BVHE-now-WDSHE thought that they could get away with using a years-old VHS featurette and that people would be satisfied with that for a third time. Seriously.

-Concept art, photos, and a featurette about the theme park attractions: the still-popular Peter Pan's Flight, and the extinct Chicken of the Sea restaurant and Skull Rock display.

-The audio recordings of the two storyboard presentations (they were included on the laserdiscs): "Captured By The Pirates" and "Introduction of Captain Hook And Mr. Smee".

-Storyboard-to-film comparisons and animation progression reels (storyboard, pencil animation, final animation)

-Any surviving live-action reference footage that has been withheld or newly discovered.

-The John Canemaker-narrated "Nine Old Men and the Art of Animation" documentary that was on the original French two-disc set.

-A short documentary about Bobby Driscoll, whose turbulent post-Peter Pan life is a whole story in itself.

They may or may not talk about the Multiplane Camera (which was used extensively in this movie), but if they did, they would probably AGAIN reuse the footage of that Disneyland episode called, "Tricks of Our Trade", in which Walt discusses this contraption and then explains how it was used in "Bambi".

It's possible, however i don't think Pinocchio really stands out as a film that utilised the multiplane camera as much as Bambi or Snow White. Pinocchio (like Fantasia) is more of an effects film.

If they were to give us anything on the animation production side of things, it would hopefully be something on the special effects, the rain, the water, the underwater scenes etc.

Incidentally, part of the "Tricks of Our Trade" episode of the Disneyland show also discusses effects animation: such as, shattering glass to simulate earthquakes (such as in the earthquake scene of the Rite of Spring number from "Fantasia"), bubbling mud with which to animate lava (also featured in the Rite of Spring scene of "Fantasia") and droplets of milk to animate splashing liquid, such as rain (featuring the April Showers scene in "Bambi").

One idea for the cover art of this PE, the logo should be in the center, and under that, the setting should be the stage where the puppet show takes place.

I just finished revisiting this classic film today for the first time in years and it really made me think.

When I heard this was coming out again I was unusually excited about it. Of all the Disney films Pinnochio is one of the ones that never captured me as a child. I dont know why but it was never that great to me. Yet when I heard it was coming out again I instantly remembered 'When you wish upon a star' and 'I've got no strings.'

So I've been meaning to revisit it on my old video. And when I did I couldnt believe how much I had forgotten about the film, nor how many issues I would have with it.

Firstly I'm 19 years old and I dont scare easy but this film really made me feel uncomfortable and freaked out whenever one of the multiple villians attacked or acted meanacingly. Also the children turning into Donkey's was just horrifying.

The multiple villians also weakened the film as there was no ONE villian who could be defeated and for that matter no villian was. The movie ends with Pinnochio happpy but all the little boys who turned into Donkey's who learnt their lessons were never rescued and that villian went unpunished. It just made me feel the film had no closure and no real reason to celebrate.

Finally Jimmy Cricket pissed me off! I got tired of his wise cracks and constant complaining. I was begging for the blue fairy as she was the only character who maintained any control. But after she saves Pinnochio the first time she disappears.

I like this films for Pinnochio's cuteness, the songs and the very beautiful opening scene where he is bought to life. Other then that I find it an episodic mess with lots of issues. I now understand why I didnt like it as a child. It just doesnt have the charm or well defined structure of the other Walt classics. I dont like saying it but its how I feel
