Does anyone here not have a driver's license?

Post by Big Disney Fan »

Is there anyone in this forum who is above 20 years old and does not have a driver's license? Or even a learner's permit?

You see, I had my learner's permit about four years. Now I'm 23 and I had failed to renew it before it expired. Now I have no way to drive a car at all. And I was just wondering if anyone here has a driver's license or a learner's permit and is at least 20 years old.

I've been 16 for almost a year and I've yet to get my G1. I was busy much of the Christmas season and then my parents nagging for me to get it just put me off doing it. I hope to attempt at some point but who knows how long it will take. Hopefully by next year I'll have it.

Forgive me if it makes me sound like I'm being rude or harsh, but is there anyone here 20 years or older who does not have a permit or a license?

It's not rude. It's a simple question that you wanted to ask. I misread and thought you were asking everyone while still stating your age. Although I think it's a adding to the discussion when I say that my parents have about three friends in there late 40's/early 50's. So your surely not alone in the over 20 bunch.

I never had a full license until I was somewhere around 25-27 (I'm 38 now.) I went to private schools when I was 15 1/2 until I graduated, so no driver's ed class at a public school for me.

For the earlier part of this period, we lived out in the boondocks, and anywhere worth driving was about 15 minutes away, so the family would go together.

We didn't have the money for a car just for me, so I went everywhere with my mom (or dad before he died,) or rode the bus (OKC has a pretty good bus system.) My mom and dad both worked, and we just never got around to getting a license for me

I really didn't have many places to go anyway:

Stores - go with mom, especially since she wouldn't be able to carry much by herself.
Malls - walk or ride the bus (about 2 miles for one of them.)
Movies - walk or ride the bus (about where the closest mall was.)
Work - parents took me/picked me up, or I rode the bus.

Now it's different, my mom can't drive anymore (well, she probably could, but she'd rather not risk it.) I drive her to work/drs. appointments, etc.

I am 20 and I still do not have my drivers license. Maybe I should learn to drive some time.

I don't. I took driver's ed at 15 or 16 in HS and I could have had behind the wheel and a license by then, but no one wanted to take me to get a permit. Every once in a while it comes up as this big thing that NEEDS to happen, but I dont really care.

I have a friend who turned 23 and still can't drive. She let her permit expire and she just doesn't care. She says she wants to learn but doesn't do a thing about it. Complains about her mom having to drive her to school and work, doesn't do anything about it.
So sometimes she'll call me and want me to drive 30 minutes, pick her up, take her to some club, drop her off, then pick her up and take her home because her mom won't. I said heck no.

Wow, that's ridiculous.

A friend of mine is 4 months younger than me and she still doesn't have her driver's license or permit. She had a learner's permit at one point but she let it expire. She wanted to learn how to drive but no one would teach her. When no one wanted to teach her, she wanted to enroll in a driving school, but her parents shot down that idea. So I drive if we want to go somewhere together. I don't mind because she doesn't ask for rides from me all the time. Normally, she'll just take the bus or her parents will drive her. Here's the kicker though, her brother is learning how to drive and her parents are all for teaching him how to drive.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.
