Simpsons season 11: worst. package. ever?

Post by rexcrk »

So I bought Season 11 of The Simpsons today, I already watched the first 3 episodes and I'm loving it of course.

However, I must say how disappointed I am with the package that holds the disc. Unlike the previous sets, the discs aren't in 4 spots that hold them, but they're inserted in the fold-out case. It's pretty terrible :|

You can see the pics here <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html? ... ges_all</a> .

I the episodes are fantastic, but I can't stand the packaging... very lazy on Fox's part =/
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

That's horrible, and I'm sure will make the discs pretty easy to get scratched. If I bought Season 11 I would put the discs in a different case.

I wonder if a regular box will eventually come out, or if the Krusty head is it. Maybe there will be a mail away thing like they did for the Homer head.

The regular box is just the Krusty box without the Krusty head part. In fact, if I wanted to I could take off the Krusty head and have just the regular box... but I think it's kinda cool lol. Actually the only reason I got the Krusty head over the regular was because it was 10 bucks cheaper... for whatever reason O_O

Surely is by far the worst package made, but don't expect to to be the worst ever...usually this "unusual boxes" have grown...in their ugliness

they were also cheap on the omen blu-ray set

the spindle that holds the discs is made of foam- the cardboard itself is very flimsy

Not as cheap as the UK Omen Blu-ray set. You don't get the remake in ours. :(
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Dang "Eco-Friendly" packaging...

Yeah, save the planet and all, but when they make junk like this (and the Futurama Beast w/ a Billion Backs set and the Wall*E soundtrack) and pass it off to consumers, that's going too far...

Actually, the Best Buy near my house had both the Krusty Head Set and the Standard Box set. I assumed that both sets are supposed to come out together or else the Best Buy near my house was misinformed.

Ironically, I'm starting to regret getting the standard box instead of the Krusty head. I went back to Best Buy today to get Sleeping Beauty and I looked at the Krusty head set. Apparently the plastic cover of the Krusty head provides slighty more (not by much) protection by covering both sides of the DVD box. The standard box leaves one side (the side where you take out the DVDs) opened for exposure and is the odd one out on the shelf when faced forward because it doesnt have the label on the facing side.

Man, I wish I had a good digital camera so I can show you what the heck I am talking about.

I think we should all protest environmental friendly DVD packaging now! LOL

Another thing: I'm also starting to regret buying this right away for $30 because something tells me that the value of this set is gonna be lower than other Simpson seasons in a few months.

This is slightly off-topic, but does anyone ever see the standard box in stores for Season 6? I've seen pics of it online, but can't find one anywhere to purchase. It's the only season of the show that I haven't bought yet, because I despise the plastic head packages, and all the rest of mine are in boxes. Have the S6 boxes made it into stores where you live, or do I need to buy online?
It may have all started with a Mouse, but the Duck is still better.

I just got back from Wal-Mart and all they had was the standard boxes of Season 11...

I am holding out for a complete series box set when the dreadful day that the show does come to an end...which I realize I might be virtually shot online on this forum for even commenting on the shows eventual end.....I mean I waited for a Flintstones Box set and it payed off although that's Warner Brothers domain...

I've seen them a few times, but they seem to be a rare find compared to the Homer head.

The only time I have seen the standard box was when the DVDs of the seasons were re-released with movie money. The standard box is still available used many places, but at Costco they sell it for $19.49. I just went there last week and they have ALL the seasons in their standard boxes for $19.49 (except for season 11, presumably. Seeing as it was just released).

Question - When I went to FYE today I saw the Krusty Head version of the box and it looked like it was just the standard edition wrapped with a Krusty Head covering the standard box. Is that what it is when you remove the wrapping?

At 20 seasons and counting... a complete series box set would be VERY expensive

But that's never gonna happen 'cause the Simpsons will NEVER die! :P :D

And as for a previous question, the Krusty head box is just the regular box with the Krusty part glued on the front (and then a plastic sleeve over it).
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

So I could just buy the Krusty head version and if I wanted to make more room on my shelf, I could take the head part off and have the standard packaging? I like that, because it's almost like you're buying both versions of the packaging.

That's true...that would be expensive...but that's what amazon.com discounts are for :P

Every show will come to its end eventually.....Even The Simpsons someday....I mean I never thought ER would end but look at it...

IF/and/or/when Simpsons ends...it will never be forgotten...it will be as iconic as the Flintstones...
