Have nothing to really add to the conversation, but I was just going to post that there was a girl who was in my class in high school (I was friendly with her, but we didn't know each other very well) that I found killed herself after she found her girlfriend cheating on her. It's so incredibly sad--even more depressing that I never really knew her.

On another less serious note: I was really honestly going to come out to one of my friends the other day. I haven't seen her in a while (we've both been busy with school and work), so I was surprised to find that she was a lot different from the last time I was around her. So I really didn't say anything because I felt like I didn't really know her anymore. She was also surrounded by guys who looked like they wanted to hump her. SO, I kind of felt out-of-place at that moment. She said she was going to call me, so I might tell her then. I mean, it doesn't really mean anything to me (because I know I'm gay and not ashamed of it), but it'll be weird to actually say it out loud. I think I was kind of inspired by the fact that several other people on here told their friends and I didn't want to feel like I was some kind of closeted gay guy.

Jack Skellington: That's really sad. =(

It's kind of scary that there are still countries in which homosexuality is such a big problem for people.
I hope that it gets better in your country. =(

I hope things go well Disney's Divinity :)

I wish I could still do that, come out to people. At the moment the only thing I care about is trying to change my little corners of the world, and I do mean little (as in my family). If I can even change their views just enough to come out and not hide anymore I couldn't care less about anyone else in the world and what they think. But as of now that's not going to happen.

Anyways....I found out that our town does in fact have two "nightclubs" one's a strip bar and the others a Lounge of sorts where the police are always going. I think I live in the wrong town for "places to go when you want to just have fun"

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, BTW isn't it like this in Germany, I mean I heard they were very conservitive over there, however I saw some same-sex couples over there when I was in Koln this summer.

I also remember that Hitler used to send them to concentration camps with the Jews, but I'm talking about Hitler (A.K.A Pazuzo of the 20th century) so I'm not sure if a few Germans feel the same hatred today.

I thought I read once that Hitler accepted gays only if they were manly and lead straight lives (ie have children and marry a woman). It was said that he was ok with it just as long as they weren't feminine because then they wouldn't protray the perfect world image or something like that. Basically, much like most of the Nazi regime, as long as the image of "perfection" was witheld anything was ok.

I could be wrong with this though...

singerguy: I'm not sure about that, but it would fit into the thinking of the Nazis, I guess. :?

Jack Skellington: I don't think that Germany in general is very conservative... Bavaria (the Bundesland that's in the south of Germany... where the famous Oktoberfest takes place ;)) has the reputation of being very conservative but luckily I live in Schleswig-Holstein (in the north of Germany) and I've mostly experienced good things.
Sometimes there are some people who look at us strange but in general, we are totally accepted.
No one of my friends had a problem with my outing, only one girl was a little disappointed because I haven't told her earlier. :D
One time my wife and I were kissing and cuddling a little bit (because we had a fight and than made up) and when an old lady walked by us, she said "Awww, love is so beautiful" or something like that.
At first I thought that she thought that one of us was a guy but we both look very feminine so I guess that wasn't it. :D

Köln is btw "the" gay city in Germany and has lots of clubs and bars and one of the biggest CSD parades, I guess.
But I'm not really a party person, so don't think I'll ever visit Köln just for that reason (or at all again). ;)

If I remember correctly, Hitler only sent gay men to concentration camps...
After World War 2 they had this law against homosexuals which they changed a lot of times (at first it was completely forbidden, then it was only allowed when you were of full age and so on) and finally abandoned completely in 1994.
Today there are still people who believe in the things that Hitler wanted (they're called Neo-Nazis) but they only form a small percentage of the population here.

Fortunately most of the people are very okay with homosexuals. =)

The Nazis persecuted both gay men and women. In concentration camps gay men were forced to wear pink triangles on their clothing (the triangle has of course now been made a symbol of pride) and lesbians wore a black triangle. Lesbians were however less persecuted than gay men.

Gays have one of the saddest story's of all Nazi victims, because unlike the Jews and other groups imprisoned by the Nazi party, gays were not set free from concentration camps. When the allies liberated the camps in the days following the end of WWII, those wearing the symbols of homosexuality were rounded up and sent to jail due to homosexuality still being illegal.

It's sadder still considering that before the Third Reich took power, Germany was one of, if not the most socially advanced country in the world. Homosexuality was widely accepted. Gay culture flourished there, until, of course, Hitler took control and moved to wipe out anything and everything that would prevent the Aryan Race from flourishing... which is ironic, since Hitler himself was the exact opposite of Aryan, but anyways...

And no, Hitler was not gay. Where did you ever hear that?

Hitler isn't Aryan ? I knew it.

I had an argument with my History teacher about this when I was in Grade 9, he thought Hitler was Blond but we coudn't tell because all his pictures were in black and white, but still even if it was black and white his hair wouldn't look so dark if he did.

Let's see:

Anyone else at school gay (as far as I know): No

Anyone else at work gay: No

Anyone in my city's gay district who is even close to my age: No [except for one individual]

I feel alone.

where the gays are

Don't get discouraged! We're out here! When I came out I was lucky to have been in Boston where there are plenty of bars/clubs filled with college guys/men in their '20s! Now even my hometown in South Carolina (we're talking where there's a Baptist church on practically every corner! ) has a gay nightlife!

Thanks for the support for a whinny gay guy everybody! One of my problems right now is that I'm a year and 2 months to young to enter and clubs.bars right now and even if I wanted too, I don't think I'm terribly interested in the drinking and the dancing either (I'm SO sociable, lol). Also I'm hypocritical in my complaining because even if I did meet some random gay guy, I probably would be all critical and such (beggars can be choosers I can assure you). I don't know, at this point I juts want friends and such, maybe not a full blown relationship.

I'm not making much sense here, sorry.

I sort of know how you feel, Flanger-Hanger. A few months ago when I came out, I really didn't have anybody else to talk to other than on here, and felt kind of scared about it, and a bit vulnerable. Where I live isn't too tolerable about any kind of homosexual and bisexual people socially, so I really keep quiet about it in our neighborhood. I'm glad though that I manage to go to school at a university that's really accepting. Since I found my school's center, I feel that I've made a lot of great friends, and happy in knowing that because I was confident to come out I met a lot of wonderful other people.

We have this gay club near my university, but I have yet to go inside since I'm not really the kind into dancing much either. I plan to go sometime soon though hopefully and see what it's like. But I think maybe it would be a good idea that you should at least give it a try, and just to see what it's like and if you meet up with any people. I've had my friends at the center tell me that they've met a lot of other gay and bi people their age in the area just by going there, and hanging around inside and chatting. Then again, all gay clubs are different depending on their areas sometimes, so I'm not really sure what the atmosphere of yours might be like. But just judging from what I've heard from my friends, it might be a good experience just to go there and hang out and see if you can meet anyone or find new friends.

Well I am sure that you will find someone it just takes time, and I have a hard time believing there is no one else at your school that is gay. Perhaps in the closet, or maybe you just don't know about it.

Same goes for at work.

Same for your "city's gay district."

Just give it time buddy, and don't be so melodramatic things will work out.
