singerguy: I'm not sure about that, but it would fit into the thinking of the Nazis, I guess.
Jack Skellington: I don't think that Germany in general is very conservative... Bavaria (the Bundesland that's in the south of Germany... where the famous Oktoberfest takes place

) has the reputation of being very conservative but luckily I live in Schleswig-Holstein (in the north of Germany) and I've mostly experienced good things.
Sometimes there are some people who look at us strange but in general, we are totally accepted.
No one of my friends had a problem with my outing, only one girl was a little disappointed because I haven't told her earlier.

One time my wife and I were kissing and cuddling a little bit (because we had a fight and than made up) and when an old lady walked by us, she said "Awww, love is so beautiful" or something like that.
At first I thought that she thought that one of us was a guy but we both look very feminine so I guess that wasn't it.
Köln is btw "the" gay city in Germany and has lots of clubs and bars and one of the biggest CSD parades, I guess.
But I'm not really a party person, so don't think I'll ever visit Köln just for that reason (or at all again).
If I remember correctly, Hitler only sent gay men to concentration camps...
After World War 2 they had this law against homosexuals which they changed a lot of times (at first it was completely forbidden, then it was only allowed when you were of full age and so on) and finally abandoned completely in 1994.
Today there are still people who believe in the things that Hitler wanted (they're called Neo-Nazis) but they only form a small percentage of the population here.
Fortunately most of the people are very okay with homosexuals. =)
