Can't wait for Pinocchio. I just watched the trailer on the Sleeping Beauty DVD. Finally it's getting a Platinum treatment. I've been waiting a long time to get this one. :D

Actually I much prefer Emily Osment's Once Upon A Dream and Salena Gomez's Fly To Your Heart then No Sceret's Once Upon Another Dream or Jessica Simpson's A Whole New World.
Maybe Raven will sing wish upon a star? or Miley Cyrus? (Thought I think that she"ll sing Someday My Prince Will Come or Beauty And The Beast).

I wonder if they will include some of the shorts with Figaro (those with and without Pluto) and also Jiminy Cricket (the "I'm No Fool" and "You and Your..." serieses, anyone?).

This is probably a long shot, but another thing I'd like to see happen is a virtual ride-through of the Pinocchio ride at Disneyland. And the Japanese and French releases of the DVDs would contain the Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland Paris versions thereof, respectively (not that they are all that largely different from each other).

wish upon a star doesn't **need** to be redone. Its fine as it is. They don't need to modernize all the songs......... of course I know that I'm in the minority on this. :(

I LOVE Pinocchio. I am definitely buying it come Feb/March.
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I'm excited about Pinocchio! I've been waiting for this one to come out. It's one of the Animated Classics that I do not have. If Snow White comes out again soon, then I'll basically have them all.

It'll be interesting to see if they'll make this release on par with Sleeping Beauty's PE. Who knows, maybe they only put the effort into SB's release for their big blu-ray debut.

just my opinion. when u wish upon a star is the most overrated disney song. i never fancied the original i only like it as disney;s anthem in variations..especially the white n blue castle version. :)
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?

I agree. Why do they always have to modernize everything?

You never know. They included some of the medieval Mickey Mouse shorts on other DVDs.

I'm with you on that. All of those music videos of the songs I've watched were horrible in my opinion.

I'm also very excited about this release. This is the one I've been waiting for for a long time now. I can't wait!

Disney done by pop tarts

Post by carolinakid »

I don't think I've even seen any of the music videos of these pop "talents" destroying classic Disney songs. Purely skipworthy in my opinion...but didn't Streisand do a song on the Snow White PE? THAT I might give a listen to...

Kiss the Girl was okay. But I don't want to imagine how bad the butchering of "Beauty and the Beast" when that DVD is re-released some day.

Cruela De Vil by Selena Gomez was also okay.

I'm so stoked bout Pinocchio: Platinum They better fill it to the brim, pull out all the stops in the BackStage Disney section. I'd be thrilled to see a featurette dedicated to Ward Kimball along with Fully detailed audio commentary

No problem. ;)

Her cover is passable, and at least is better than the majority of the Disney Tween Star ones. The song itself is basically a glorified torch song, and that longing and lingering quality is captured pretty well in Babs' cover. The other covers by Disney (Anastacia, Ashley Tisdale, The Cheetah Girls) totally butcher it. The latter two especially, as they make it sound more like a dance club pop ballad. :headshake:

My main problem with the Disney Channel covers is that the put the original songs in the wrong genre and tempo.

This is a common thing, especially in the remix world. But certain songs are best left as they were originally. If its a slow song, then either remix it as a slow song or forget it.

At the very least, "Wish upon a star" has been remixed as slow ballads or lullabies. Once again, if they have Kyle Massey singing the "hip hop" version of "Upon a star" I will kill somebody...

There's actually some that aren't that bad...in fact Jesse McArtney covered When You Wish Upon a Star once and it was pretty good.

It would be a better idea to make a video for that cover even though it's been a good four years since that particular Disneymania was realeased
but Disney and Hollywood Records have no good acts lately and we know they only use the most recent ones...
well Hayden Pannettiere and the Jonas Brothers aren't that bad :D
