I mean, its been EIGHT LONG YEARS! They have had plenty of time to release this gem on DVD, and its LONG overdue. I am tired of recording it on TV every time it airs, and I am sick of buying unofficial versions that have quality that's worse every time.

Be grateful you at least have yearly airings. Lord knows when was the last time I saw The Whipping Boy, Chips, the War Dog, or 1994 version of The Shaggy Dog on the Disney Channel.Handofdoom71 wrote:I mean, its been EIGHT LONG YEARS! Unfortunately, aside from releasing every DCOM since The Proud Family Movie, Disney doesn't see any real value or sales potential in older titles anymore. In addition, they're generally of the attitude that if it's old, not Walt-Era (thus, not Treasures-potential), or not able to serve as a tie-in to a re-released DAC, that it's not really worth them revisiting it on DVD.

But sometimes I don't even consider DMC exclusives as a real release (not even when they suddenly become available to general public in b&m stores). The DVD presentation is awful on most of them. No chapter stops, substandard transfers, and colourisation on "Zorro"
BTW, speaking of DMC, does anyone have the 5-disc National Treasure set, and if so, can they post complete specs of what's on it (featurettes, their runtime in mm:ss format and not "it's about 20 minutes", and brief descriptions of what each one is about along with who appears in them)?

I'm surprised they even allowed the special features on So Dear To My Heart.

Actually I own it.....I know the first 4 discs of it are the 2-disc DVDs of National Treasure and National Treasure Book Of Secrets..not sure what's on the 5th disc as when I started to watch it on my portable DVD player I got via DMR....The laser gave out and have not been able to bring myself to watch it since...
Also On my way out to run a few errands then I will work on that sometime today...I think I will watch it on the computer......and then if my DVD rom gives out I will throw it away and call it the curse of DMC NT 5-disc BEWARE!!! IT KILLS DVD PLAYERS!!

What's the NT-5 DVD? Is that like Sony's rootkit or something? (And ever since Disney has been using ARccOS, I think they're every bit as evil distribution-wise)
If this movie ever airs in America, let me know... I can record it for you and make a decent-looking DVD (but it'll have whatever station watermark it airs with
)
I did that for Zenon (Only from the VHS)... and I started doing it for a couple other DCOMs that people wanted.
The DMC-exclusives aren't even that great... I got a copy of Smart House, and it was just disappointing... it was another Aladdin 3 treatment... they just chopped the top and bottom off to make it anamorphic widescreen (And there's no OTV since it's made-for-TV so no trying to convince me there's a good reason for it!) Unlike the new movies, Smart House wasn't filmed in widescreen so who knows why they'd release it that way. Comparing to the VHS it's a definite tilt-and-scan.

But what "curse"? I've never heard of any DVDs that are able to crash your computer... unless they're similar to Sony's rootkit, which installs spyware to try to stop people from copying their CDs.

All you need to do is...you know...read the last few posts.
Obviously you haven't yet seen the Wiztober schedule.drf wrote:If this movie ever airs in America, let me know... I can record it for you and make a decent-looking DVD (but it'll have whatever station watermark it airs with)

Yeah, of course I haven't looked at the Wiztober schedule... I've been boycotting actually tuning in Disney Channel for years. As rarely do they show anything even remotely worth wasting time on.
But apparently it's airing October 14. I'll be sure to record it, and hopefully if I don't have too much to do for school, I'll have a DVD out before Halloween.
Who all would want one? I could burn and mail them out, or make an ISO, whatever... I'm happy to do it. The only thing is it will have the Disney Channel watermark and that fancy scrolling text (at the bottom of the screen) they do that just annoys the crap out of me... but I'll cut the commercials out so it looks as much like an official release as possible.

So there's nothing bad about the 5th disc? Here I thought it had a virus or something... no matter, I don't belong to DMC anyway so I really don't care. (And you know what curiosity did to that poor cat...Sometimes grown-ups make jokes.

I watched it to on Family and it was awesome. Only problem is Dimitri drops like 5 points on the evil scale when he's put back into the coffin in the end. he should be all screaming and raging but instead he just acts silly. Also I think Disney should make some campy period vampire movie like the one shown at the beginning (with Casa Loma in the background). It could be both hilarious and amazing.
I would buy it if it came packaged in some extensive blu-ray boxed set of DCOM that are Halloween related.
