Just switch the slipcover from the single disc to the two disc set.
Yeah I have to agree with you the two disc set art cover is crap...let's only hope Best Buy has some kind of steelbook cover that looks better. :D

These were also passed by BBFC, but I had to go to class and couldn't post them until now.

More from TheDigitalBits...

In the meantime however, a LOT of you have sent in e-mails asking how the aspect ratio is going to work on the DVD and Blu-ray Disc editions of The Dark Knight (due 12/9). I've just heard back from Warner Home Video on this, so here's the deal: The widescreen versions of the DVD will present the film in a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio, reproducing the standard theatrical experience of the film. For the Blu-ray Disc however, while most of the film will also be presented in the 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, the scenes that were specifically shot in IMAX format will be presented at 1.78:1, which will fill the frame and will thus recreate the IMAX experience at home. This is not via seamless branching (you can't turn it off). But trust me: It's very cool. It's not gimmicky at all, it really adds something to the film - an extra little bit of 'oomph' to the action scenes, so to speak. So there you have it. It goes without saying that we obviously can't wait to get our hands on the discs.

That makes it sound like only the Blu-Ray will have it, doesn't it? (the IMAX aspect ratio)

And wtf, 1.78:1? Those scenes were shot 1.44:1... I hope they just mean that's it anamorphic and that they plan on pillarboxing it... otherwise I'll avoid it...

So maybe it just doesn't let you watch the whole movie with the IMAX scenes in?

No matter, it should be a simple remaking job using seamless branching... (though, seamless branching is, ATM, one of the things on DVDs that I have no idea how to emulate)

I could, at least, make an AVI of the "IMAX Version".

What part of "THE DARK KNIGHT - IMAX SEQUENCE FOR SD SPECIAL FEATURES DISC" did not register in your brain? Do you ever read an entire post before you reply to it?

From what I understand, the trailers and spots are part of the DVD release. This all sounds very confusing.

What's it mean by "IMAX Sequence" though? That it just has the IMAX scenes by themselves?

Twice already I noted that the IMAX scenes will be included in the DVD, and in addition, I added a post from TheDigitalBits that said that on the Blu-Ray they would be integrated into the film. And all you need to do is use a little something called "context clues" to figure out that...if it's been classified as "FOR SD SPECIAL FEATURES DISC"...then by god, that must mean it's only going to be a special feature and not part of the actual film.

Dear lord, I give up. I'm tired of having to spell out and explain everything for you if all you need to do is read the damn posts. Seriously.

Today I picked up the Two-Disc version at Target because of the cool mask packaging (I'm gonna get the Iron Man and Incredible Hulk versions later, possibly next week). And I found that it actually includes a bonus DVD in addition to the two-disc set!

I thought it would just hold something like the "HBO First Look" making-of or some EPK interviews edited together. And to my surprise, it was actually Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight!!!

I had caught the documentary when it originally aired (along with Batman Tech), so I'm glad that it is on DVD!

:D :D :D

I had forgotten the Target set had another disc.

There are two versions of the Iron Man mask out now. The original red/gold release, and a new silver mask. Both are Target exclusives.

Thanks, DarthPrime!

I haven't yet seen Iron Man (hence buying it), so I don't know which version of the mask packaging to get. I've seen the red/gold one, but haven't seen the silver yet. When I go, whichever one looks better (or is in better condition, as some cases get slightly scuffled since they don't fit in the normal DVD slots) I'll pick up.
