Is it any good? I just brought a crimson DS Lite about a week ago and was at Gamestop looking for games. I had come across Enchanted and considered buying it, but I changed my mind and brought another game.Ariel'sprince wrote:I LOVE my DS,I got DS Light in October.
So far I have:
Enchanted (My first game).
My Games
Mario Party DS
Super Princess Peach
(Yeah, my list sucks, but I should be getting more soon! Hopefully...)
I'm also curious about Disney Friends.
I've been wondering about Enchanted for the DS myself. I've been playing my PS 2 alot lately because I got five new games for it. I have to cool it with the video game buying so I can have money for Disneyland. I was to stop at the Crystal shop (forgot the exact name) and see if they'll make me a Mushu and Stitch figure out of glass.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

Alright, well yesterday I finally bought one. It is the Crimson/Black DS Lite and I also purchased Brain Age 2 (really fun so far!). I just really like all of its functionality and just the way it looks. I plan on getting New Super Mario Bros. and Pokemon Pearl when I get more money (I should be getting some more tomorrow since I'm baby-sitting tomorrow). I do have another question though. I need some starter pack or something in which I could clean and travel with my DS. I've looked on Amazon but I'm not sure which is the best. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.
And in case anyone is wondering yesterday my brain age was 60
This morning it was 41
I'm thinking it will take awhile to get to the ideal 20 but I'm working on it.

Not sure on the travel case, but I see several packages at each store. I think it was Circuit City and I saw one that came in a metal briefcase. It looked pretty nice, and had a lot of add ons for the DS in it. It was around $25.
Although all of my DS play time is at home, I still need to get some screen protectors for my DS. I'm afraid I'm going to scratch that screen up bad one day.

So do I...I really hate paying $30-35 for a new handheld game, or $40-50 for a console game, but sometimes it is a matter of getting it now at that price, or never finding it again...
So I paid $50 for a Supercard and never need to buy games.
I do own a few games, before I knew what flashcarts were, like Mario Kart, Super Mario 64 DS, etc... and I bought Pokémon Diamond because you can't use dual-slot if the flashcart occupies both slots.
But I have about 40 DS games and 30 GBA games, also emulators for NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega Master System, and more... videos, music, pictures, and even an IRC applet, all stored on a 2GB SD card that I carry everywhere with me. Beat that, I dare you

--EDIT--
Oh, I forgot to mention... I have the original DS. Honestly, I can't stand how flimsy the DS Lite is... true it's like 10% smaller but it's incredibly annoying because of that stupid power switch, and the screen moves around a lot (hence the "flimsy" comment)... the original DS is like rock-solid, you can drop it and stuff and it won't even be affected. So I pretty much refuse to get a DS Lite unless someone gives me one for free.
If I won the lottery, though, I'd buy that Pokémon DS Lite bundle, because it looks so cool and that Mystery Dungeon DVD is only available with it (I actually paid $25 to get one on eBay so I didn't have to buy the whole bundle)... Anyone actually own that Dialga/Palkia DS Lite?

You guys might check out Wal-Mart, there are a few clearance DS (and GBA?) games, including a Wal-Mart exclusive - Chibi Robo: Park Patrol (sequel? to the GameCube game.)
These are priced somewhere around 15 bucks.
Circuit City also has a clearance bin with DS and GBA games, you can find some good deals in there.

A new DS is on the way, and includes a camera and its music-capable.
I'm wondering if the advanced wireless might include WPA/WPA2 support?TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese video game maker Nintendo Co Ltd plans to launch a new model of its DS handheld machine that can take pictures and play music by the end of the year, the Nikkei business daily said on Sunday.
The move would pit the top-selling portable game gear with Apple Inc iPod and camera-embedded cellphones in general.
The price for the new machine, which will also be equipped with advanced wireless communications functions, is expected to be below 20,000 yen ($189) in Japan, compared with 16,800 yen for the current model, the Nikkei said.
The Wii game console and DS have been Nintendo's twin growth engines, helping its share price to grow more than three-fold over the past three years.
The DS far outsells Sony Corp's rival machine, PlayStation Portable (PSP), globally.
But in Japan, the PSP's unit sales exceeded the DS's in five consecutive months through July, according to game magazine publisher Enterbrain, in a potential sign of slowing momentum for the current DS model.
Nintendo officials were not immediately available for comment.

I heard about that, but isn't just a rumor? Nintendo hasn't said anything yet. I've heard that they might remove the GBA port from the new DS. If they do, it's a very stupid move. Some DS games need the GBA port (Guitar Hero On Tour for example) or will lose part of their functionality (like Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum.) I still have my original DS. It's scratched up, and the paint is starting to come off, revealing white plastic. But it still works great, and I can't count the times I've (accidentally) dropped the thing. My only complaint are two scratches on the touch screen that are really bugging me. They aren't serious, and even I thought I "cracked" the screen, it was just me spazzing out. If I had cracked the screen, the colors would be all messed up, "runny" according to Nintendo.DarthPrime wrote:A new DS is on the way, and includes a camera and its music-capable.

With games like Guitar Hero, unless they dump backwards compatibility, I think the next DS will have a GBA port. As far as I have heard this isn't a rumor. No ideal when this thing will become available.
Unless its got updated graphics, or something that makes it a must have I'm going to pass on the next release.

Nintendo was asked about the rumors of a new DS, and as always, refused to comment on them. There's also the possibility that it's going to be released only in Japan. I guess we'll find out either tomorrow or Friday because Nintendo's holding a press event.DarthPrime wrote:I have heard this isn't a rumor. No ideal when this thing will become available.

The new DS is offical. Now called the DSi.

So far nothing really that exciting in my opinion. Unless something must have comes out, I'm going to skip this new DS. Getting rid of the GBA port was sort of a shock with games like Guitar Hero using it.

I guess the DS Shop will be ok, but I hope its not tied to the DS like Wii VC/WiiWare is on the Wii. Hopefully this has WPA/WPA2 support. That's the main reason I leave my DS Lite offline.- new platform
- 12%, 2.6 millimeters lighter, no more GBA slot
- bigger screens, better speakers, 300,000 pixels cam (might be 3 MP)
- built in memory
- downloading games from store
- built in web browser
- SD card slot
Nintendo DS Shop," you can download "Nintendo DS Ware." Software will be split into four categories: Free, 200, 500, Premium (800). And until March 2010, you'll get a free 1000 points (1000 yen or $10) when you buy a DSi.

That's a nice bundle. Not sure if it will be bundled in the US. I'm guessing that it won't be.
From what I've read the DSi is expected to come out in the US sometime around June 2009. Its already out in Japan. I saw a few places where you could import it, but its $299.99. Of course the US price is going to be a lot cheaper than that. I'm thinking that it will be in the price range of the PSP.
For those like me that are curious on the features it does support WPA and WPA2 like the Wii. Also the DS Shop is tied to your DSi as far as I know. Wii Points will also be renamed Nintendo Points and they can be added to the Wii and DSi, but not exchanged between the two systems.
