Iron Man: Which Set to Get?
OK, so there's so many frickin versions of Iron Man I don't know which to buy.
I saw an ad for a Target Exclusive set, so I ran over to the store... only to find that it was just the 2 discs in a plastic Iron Man case. I mean, it doesn't even have boxart! So I didn't buy it, since I much prefer standard DVD cases.
So here I'm looking at Walmart.com and I see two online-only bundles, one that comes with a comic book and one that comes with a bonus disc. I know Best Buy also puts bonus discs in stuff.
So assuming that I want the 2-disc set regardless... which one should I get? All the stores have their gimmicks that come with it... and I'm hoping some of you would know which set to buy.

Holy crap that's a lot!
Right now I'm leaning towards Circuit City and Borders... I thought the bonus DVD at Walmart was also for the 2-disc set but if all the 2-disc set comes with is some dumb kids' comic then it's of no use to me.
Shame Borders charges WAY too much for their DVDs (I saw some single disc new releases for $30! I can get them for $15 everywhere else!), and Circuit City's kinda out of the way for me. At least I'll know where to go.

I usually get one of the DVDs with the extra gift. Or the 2-disc version. My mom works at Walmart, so I get 10% off and didn't feel like driving elsewhere and wasting the gas for a DVD. What I am trying to say, my financial situation...I really shouldn't even get DVDs, but f*** it. I needed a happy. And $18 was a cheap happy.
I never saw it in the theaters. I totally skipped it because it was Iron Man and I was very disinterested. And then I heard EVERYONE tell me how "f***ing awesome" it was...people who like me, didn't give a rat's ass about Iron Man before the movie. So I took a gamble and bought it. Rambling over. Kick ass movie. I only got the one disc. No extra freebie...because it was just the animated series. I left it there for some fanboy or kid to get instead. Haven't bothered to check the extras on the one disc yet though.

Heh, I never saw it in theaters either. I saw part of it from, um, let's just say a downloaded version that the MPAA doesn't approve of.
But I can't wait to see it in the quality it should be in - I woulda seen it in theaters but there were just so many movies that came out around the same time that I couldn't keep up
(For half of my summer I was seeing a movie each weekend! Usually with a different person each time, but still.)

Hey, I don't have any friends that are girls!
I didn't mean a date sort of thing... I'd just ask my guy friends if they wanted to see a movie. Is that... not a normal thing to do?
But anyway, yeah, there were so many movies that came out from May to July... like Indiana Jones, Iron Man (didn't see in the theaters), Narnia 2, Wall-E, etc. that I just couldn't see them all.

There is a Blockbuster Lenticular Exclusive Cover/bobble head too. Plus the comic con (forget which con gave these out) Lenticular slipcover.
I got the Target set, and it looks great on my shelf in my opinion. However I'm worried how well the plastic case will hold up over time. The actual head is pretty good, but the clear plastic box just seems like it will tear up over time. I may put the discs in a separate DVD case so I don't have to open and close the box each time I want to watch it.
The Steelbook looks great, and it has different disc art than the standard 2 disc DVD. I have no ideal what the price was at the store, but I saw a picture online and the price tag said $34.99.

Yeah I could have gotten the steelbook DVD....however the closest store that is associated with FYE is 40 -50 miles away from where I live...so I bought the Ultimate 2-disc from Wal-mart (not the Wal-mart one with the cartoon episode with it)
Anyway I think any differ disc art would probably be a great improvement compared to the 2-disc...I mean they are Grey discs...no art at all..Just 2 gray discs that say Iron Man disc one and two......I Mean Disney Gives (most now a days) at least a picture on the disc.....

What is the steelbook?
I called my Blockbuster and they're all outta the lenticular ones... what exactly is that though? I have no interest in a bobble head... does it just have a 3D slipcover?
I'll probably check out Borders if push comes to shove.

Blu Iron Man issues with PS3 and other Sony Blu Ray Players
from the digital bits website:
The big thing so far today, is that a LOT of people are e-mailing to report problems with the playback of Paramount's Iron Man Blu-ray Disc on the Sony PS3 (and other Sony BD players we hear - the reason is the same, so please read on). As a result, we're getting a lot of people saying that the defective disc wasn't recalled after all (as reported last week), and they must have a bad one, etc. Here's the deal: From what we're told, the disc ISN'T defective. What's happening is that the Sony PS3 (and other Sony players) automatically downloads some of the BD-Live content from the studio servers the first time you boot up the disc. And it appears that Paramount initially underestimated the server load - thousands of people got their discs home yesterday, booted up their PS3s and then experienced long, long wait times while the disc loaded, making it look like the disc had frozen up and wouldn't play. But this morning, the problem appears to be resolving, as server loads are easing. (The studio tells me: "capacity was expanded dramatically last night and local servers were established worldwide to accommodate all the fans.") If you're still having troubles with Disc One of the Iron Man BD playing on your PS3, go into your system set-up menu and temporarily set BD-Live to 'prompt' or 'disable'. Then the disc should boot up fine. Wait a few hours (to allow server loads to ease more), and then restore your BD-Live setting. It might take a few minutes, but all the BD-Live content will download and your disc should work just fine after that. If the problem continues over the next few days - which it shouldn't - we'll get a customer service number for you from the studio.

I sort of wished now that I had got the steelbook instead of the Target mask set. Great movie and the mask set looks good on the shelf, but I'm going to put the discs in different cases. I just don't trust the plastic packaging to hold up over time.

Hmm.
So Steelbook is a F.Y.E. exclusive and is just the normal 2-disc but with artwork? And a fancy case?
Does the normal 2-disc set have a chapter insert? If not (and it's just the two discs) I wouldn't mind the Steelbook at all. But are the Steelbook discs the exact same as the normal ones? Or are they different somehow because of the art?
I would prefer disk art to a book with drawings, LOL, as that can always be scanned by someone *HINT HINT* but disc art can't be (unless I make a DVD-R copy and use printable discs... which would be lossy anyway)

First they cheap out on inserts, then they cheap out on disc art. I'd rather have those than a tree-killing DVD condom.

I'm not that interested in Iron Man, but when I go to the mall later this week, I think I"ll stop at FYE and get the steelbook just for the hell of it and because if I ever do get interested in Iron Man, I'll have the version with disc art (geez, how pathetic do I sound?).

The steelbook discs are the same as the normal 2 disc set other than the disc art. I'm not sure if the normal 2 disc has a insert, but in my opinion the steelbook is worth it without the insert.drfsupercenter wrote:Hmm.

The steelbook can also be bought at Suncoast. Also a lot of people have posted that they got a $7 mail in rebate for Iron Man when they bought the steelbook.

LOL, that's OK... who wants to date a guy like me anyway? Heck, even speaking in words that most people can understand when I'm talking about computers is hard for me... usually people get lost at the first few wordsI'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Plus, I'm only in high school... I'd rather keep my grades up and not get distracted by dating anyway...
I've never heard of Suncoast, and I highly doubt we have one near me. We have an F.Y.E. at the mall near me, but everything there is insanely overpriced... so I'll have to call and ask what they're charging for the Steelbook.
What's the back cover of the Steelbook look like? I was looking at the normal 2-disc set and it looks pretty cool... I'd hate to lose that just to get disc art.
