I need some help (sorry if this is against the rules)

Post by nachonaco »

Hi guys,

I need some help. I would like to make some Disney AMVs, but I am really really stupid at converting and decrypting DVDs....

Is there any way I could convince you to help me find .mov files of The Lion King, Pocahontas, Little Mermaid, Hunchback, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast? (all of which I own on DVD, I just can't rip 'em onto my Mac).

The reason I said it may be against the rules is because, although I own all of the DVDs in question (some of them in multiple formats) I cannot rip them and I would be scared I would mess something up....Also, a bunch of my DVDs are scratched up.

Rarely do I see movies on Limewire in MOV format. But you can check there. But there is NO telling the quality till you download it.

Better plan is to download Magic DVD Ripper. I do not know if it converts to MOV file. But it has a large list. From there, you can download a MOV converter. Like MPG to MOV converter.

OR

Buy an ADS DVD Xpress DX2
http://www.adstech.com/products/USBAV-7 ... BAV-709-EF

It allows you to hook up a DVD player (VCR and camcorder too) directly to your computer and record the movie like you were recording a TV show onto a VHS. It works great and the quality is excellent. I've used one of these for years to get video off VHS and camcorders, as well as DVD. It also navigates right around the copyright blocks on DVDs, since you essentially are tricking your your DVD player. It only thinks its playing, no idea you are recording :)

Which one can't you use? Do Macs have a USB port? If not Magic DVD Ripper or DVD Decrypter would be the best programs. And yes, I know you mentioned you had a Mac before. You asked for suggestions and I gave them. I don't know what works on a Mac or not.

Heh, sorry, Siren, I really wasn't sure if I HAD mentioned it (I have a BAD memory...I really do)...And I looked at the Magic DVD Ripper and it doesn't work on a Mac computer. :( It says XP and Vista only.

A good program to use is Handbrake, which works on Macs.

Thans Magic, I downloaded this last night and played around with it, my friend gave me the specifics, but they were wrong.

Would you happen to know what the settings are that I'm supposde to use to rip TLK?

OK, I need some help...LOL.

Would ANYONE happen to have The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast in .mov format? I would rip TLM myself, but can't find the disc for it and my copy of Beauty and the Beast was a bootleg (I got it from a friend because I already own the tape and plan to buy the next PE that comes out. I did try to find it in stores, though)

Did you try looking on BitTorrent or maybe download Frostwire? Either way, be careful of hitchhiking viruses

I really don't trust downloading sources. That and my dad would tan my hide if I did. :P
