Made of honor Was okay, predictable and forgettable, but a nice way of spending 90 minutes on a plane.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Not as good as the first one, but more action and nice effects. I might have to watch it again on DVD.
The Parent Trap (1998) I love this movie, great writing, wonderful sidekicks, nice soundtrack and makes you almost forget what Lindsay Lohan has become.

I rented this week's ago. I would not say excellent, but I will say tragic. It was on my christmas list last year, I am thankful I did not get it as a gift. But I'm happy I saw it once.

The Kingdom
I've had this since it was released, but I've only just watched it. I watched it in two parts, because I got a little irritated with the movie, and decided I would be better off going to bed.
What put me off the first half was the fact the terrorist mastermind that they were hunting for was called Abu Hamza, which just happens to be the same name as er.. Abu Hamza. Which took me out of the film as I thought that they were talking about the Abu Hamza which put a totally different spin on things (i.e. Typical Hollywood 'rewriting' of facts) so I really hated it, as the publicity promised me more.
However, I watched the second half just now and the conclusion shows that its not the Abu Hamza. Still, it was a bad decision from the screenwriter to pick a name of a real life [possible] terrorist.
It's a fair film, which perhaps lags a little in the middle. Regardless of my confusion and split viewing, I probably would be yawning a little in the middle a little. But again, when viewed as a whole, the middle bit is needed so you feel sympathy for the characters at the end. And the final coda is really important.
But it has other problems too – the shaky camera work did actually make me feel a little sick (another reason for me initially deciding I would probably be better in bed) and I often found the dialogue hard to hear (but I do only have sound via my TVs speakers – but I don't have this problem with the majority of my films)
Over all 7/10
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior
I hope you are all sitting down, because I'm going to shock you all. I actually liked this. It has its faults, and while I enjoyed it I can't honestly say it represents value for money. But it’s a good romp – more in the style of Xena and Hercules than the Mummy movies or even the 1st Scorpion King. Like Xena, it's awash with modern colloquist speech (would an ancient greek really say for example "It's not my cup of tea"? Would he even know about tea?).
While its low budget origins often show, I don't particularly care. The final battle is against a mostly invisible monster (to save money no doubt), the minotaur is very poorly realised. But I don't really care.
While for instance the method of teleportation and movement of the goddess of the underworld may not be realised as well as the CGI/motion captured Grendel's mother in Beowulf, it has much more imagination. And the same is true of the script. I know some have criticised the script, but its not worse than 75% of the summer blockbusters released over the past five years or so (some of which have trouble actually telling a coherent story, despite all the money spent on the effects).
It’s fair to criticise the acting though, but even them you can sort of excuse it. The big UFC chump playing the baddie had no emotion because he worshiped the dark gods, who sucked it all from him? And the young Scorpion King grew-up to be The Rock. So sorted!

On Saturday, I came back from a vacation to California, and on the various plane rides, I watched "Speed Racer" (the editing was excellent, and it looked pretty, and, although it did get better as time went on, it wasn't my cup of tea), and "Notting Hill" (this played on 2 flights, and I enjoy Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts and had wanted to see this for years, and it was really good!). Bobby & I watched the first half of "The Producers", too, which we have to finish, and it has it's funny moments and I like the music, but it's not the greatest musical, IMO.

Very lovely film. Sincere and not artificial or contrived in any way. Kate Winslet shines, as does Cameron Diaz.
OK, I know I'm gay ... but Kate Winslet looks so beautiful in this film, she ... gives me shudders of pleasure.
Just one query. Why does the screenplay seem smarter in Winslet's lines?

Because Kate Winslet has that magical ability to make any screenplay sound better when she says the lines. Pretty good really. Better than TLM2, and I enjoyed it more than Cindy3. And before anyone jumps on my back, there is a difference between enjoying a movie and realizing what's great about it. For instance, you can say you enjoy Chicken Little, but you understand why Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is great.

Darby O' Gill and the little people from 1959. Starring a very young Sean Connery in his pre-Bond time as the gardener Michael. But the character of his co-star, Kathy, was as spirited as any Bond-girl.
Earlier I saw:
Bobby movie about several of the people that gathered round Bobby Kennedy in the Ambassador hotel on the day that he was murdered. Really good movie with great actors. But I don't really understand the line that "America lost it's innocence on that day"I mean, wasn't that already lost at least five years earlier with the murder of pres. John Kennedy? Or maybe even long before that with the assasination of Abe Lincoln....
The Illusionist Spellbounding Illusion I must say. Great story.
