Sex And The City: The Movie & The Series on DVD
I was wondering. When the movie is released on DVD in about a week, do you think any major retailers (Circuit City, Best Buy) will have an offer on the DVDs (like "Buy the 2 Disc Deluxe Edition of the movie, get a season of the series free" or "half price")? I know that when season 8 of Roseanne came out, Best Buy had a "Buy season 8, get any season free" promotion, so I was wondering if they'd do something similar for SatC.
I'm asking all this because my friend invited me to his college because on September 19th they are showing the movie, and I wanted to finish up the series before then, but I'm not sure if I should finish buying the series or wait til the movie comes out on DVD to get a deal. I own seasons 1 - 4 and today I purchased season 6, part 2 so I could watch the finale so I would understand the movie. Do you guys think I'll be completely lost if I finish sesaon 4 and maybe (If I have time), go back and get season 5, watch THAT, and then jump to the finale? I'm sure I won't be too lost, but just in case. I'm debating on whether or not to go back and get 5 and 6.1, but I doubt I'll have time this week anyway.
I know I probably won't even finish the series by Friday, but I'm trying to be optimistic.

Hmm interesting to know Target and Circuit City have almost the same prices.
Thanks! I know I'm going to watching all the seasons eventually, just wasn't sure if I would have to speed up the watching of them to understand. Good to know I won't be so lost! Now I'll definitely wait until the movie comes out on DVD to get that and the last 2 seasons I need.carolinakid wrote:
All the seasons are must see but in all honesty, you don't have to be caught up to understand the film. It begins with a good summary of all four characters but even without that, you shouldn't have any trouble catching on to what's going on. Don't worry...

I will! I'm excited to see this now! I'll probably pick up the theatrical cut since that's only gonna be $13.99 and I'll probably pick up the remaining 2 seasons I need (5 and 6.1). As far as the 2 Disc Extended Edition, I think I'll wait until the price drops or maybe on Black Friday I'll pick it up.
Wait, will the 2 Disc edition come with the extended AND the theatrical cut of the film?

I saw the movie last night, and LOVED it! The part where the girls went on vacation and Carrie was sleeping for days was a bit depressing. As a guy I was a little bored at some parts (because it was a chick flick), but I loved it anyway, which I can't believe I'm saying.
And goofystitch, I think the only difference between Best Buy and Target's editions are the covers, which are the same as the soundtrack. The cover for the Target edition is this:

minus the words at the bottom and the picture of Carrie. It's pretty bland.
From what I understand, the Best Buy edition has this exact cover, minus the "volume 2" printed below it, and I think the background might be a very light shade of pale pink.

I like the Best Buy version better.

I like the cover, I don't like the inside of the steelbook. I also don't like Target's exclusive cover, so it looks like I'll be going to Circuit City to pick this one up, along with season 5. I'm not sure when I'm gonna get there, I have so much going on tomorrow, but I'm not sure about the rest of the week. I'm afraid if I wait until Saturday to go, they'll have run out of copies of the 2-Disc SE or copies of season 5. Also, does the 2 Disc SE include a copy of the theatrical version too? I know New Line has included both theatrical and extended/unrated editions on some of their DVDs.

Has anyone picked this up yet? What are your opinions? And can someone verify my previous question (for those who have bought it)?DisneyFreak5282 wrote:Does the 2 Disc SE include a copy of the theatrical version too?
