There are a lot of shorts I love but the one the stands out, the one that I liked ever since I was a kid is The Art of Skiing. I like it mainly because I pretty much grew up on a pair of skis.

That would be MICKEY'S TRAILER, SwordInTheStone.

My own favorite Disney shorts include

RIVAL ROMEOS— such wonderful action with Oswald's and Pete's cars
OZZIE OF THE MOUNTED— oh, what a lovely (and extended) chase!
GALLOPIN' GAUCHO— an early high-water mark for Mickey, with some wonderful comedy and great personality
TRAFFIC TROUBLES— I have here a wonderful discovery, it'll make an old car new and a new car old!
POLAR TRAPPERS— oh boy! roast chicken!
FIRE CHIEF— Donald can't win, he just can't win

Sounds like it could be 1934's Peculiar Penguins.

Of course The Small One

I also love Lambert the Sheepish Lion and a bunch more, I will have to list them later.

Anyone remember Goliath II. It was about a tiny elephant, the size of a mouse that was born to a proud and huge father who felt ashamed of his son's tiny size. There was a mouse and a tiger in it as well.

Favorite Disney short?

Post by GoofyGoofyGoofy »

What's your favorite Disney short? I haven't seen too many of them but mine is "Motor Mania", a Goofy short (which doesn't actually star Goofy, but a Goofy-look alike named Mr. Walker/Wheeler). I remember watching it years ago on a Wind in The Willows tape I have. It also has a Donald short I can't remember the name of.

Great topic! There are quite a few shorts that I've always loved, so it's hard to choose, but I feel that my favorite is a Goofy short called "Lion Around".

The cartoon you're looking for is DONALD'S DREAM VOICE.

Donald's trying to sell the brushes you remember, but has trouble because nobody understands his voice—so takes expensive voice pills to give himself a svelte-sounding male human voice. The brushes sell very well after that, but then comes Donald's plan to propose to Daisy before the pills run out...

Here are some of my faves:
Goofy in "Hockey Homicide": I personally love ALL of the "How to" shorts, but this one is hilarious! Some of the visual gags are great (like the scene in which the hockey players strip the poor goalie just to find the puck!), but what makes this the greatest is the ending. HOLY COW THAT'S A LOT OF MADNESS AND VIOLENCE!!! Even Monstro appears! What I enjoy so much about this scene is that it manages to be violent without being graphic. Nowadays, violence=bloodshed. "Hockey Homicide" manages to create the hilarity of violence without any real consequences or disturbing images. Fantastic short.

The Old Mill: Funny how this is mainly a visual short with no real plot, yet manages to be captivating and haunting. I always got worried for the animals as the mills starts to act violently (that mother bird was LUCKY that she didn't get crushed).

The Golden Touch: I enjoy this telling of the classic tale. King Midas really does look like a greedy, sleazy fellow. The visual gags that follow after he realizes that the golden touch is a curse is great. "With onions! WHOOPE!"

Mother Goose goes to Hollywood: I honestly do not know who half of the people the short parodies are. Yet, I always thought it was such an amusing, silly short!

The Tortoise and the Hare: Toby Turtle is the greatest! The hare was such an arrogant fool! The close finish was also great.

The sequel to "Tortoise and the Hare" (forget the name of it): I love this short so much mainly because its a "Silly Symphonies All Stars" short, featuring a lot of characters from earlier Silly Symphonies, including Practical Pig as the guy that rings the bell :p .

Reason and Emotion: This WWII short is HILARIOUS! It perfectly captures how emotion can lead to ignorant reactions and thoughts. The woman eating herself to a fat life was great, mainly because the women representing reason and emotion are incredibly funny! "I want some mash PO-TA-TOES!"

Noah's Arc: I am talking about the stop motion version. I always found it funny how the film looks as if ANYONE could make it since it uses so much household appliances and trinkets. Yet, Disney is the only one that could make it unique and magical.

The Truth About Mother Goose: Not much of a story, but their take on classic Mother Goose rhymes is really good. I always felt bad for Mary :(.

Donald Duck in "Plastics": Again, I forget the title. This is the one in which Donald makes an airplane out of plastics. It eventually melts and the results are hysterical.

Donald Duck in "The Gift Wrapper": Again, some of the visual gags are great, especially the ending when Donald beats up the guy on the speaker XD .

I have many more favorite shorts. If I remember them I'll post them.
