Get into ANY Disney Park for FREE!

Post by Siren »

No, I am not suddenly spamming the boards with fraudulent advertisement...

NEW YORK (AP) -- Walt Disney World will be admitting visitors free on their birthday next year. Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, announced the promotion at a New York news conference Thursday. It will apply to all Disney parks.
Visitors will have to show valid identification and proof of birthdate to qualify. Details are available at www.disneyparks.com, where birthday visits can be registered in advance.

Aaaww...You look like the type that does that :p .

Anyways, this sounds cool. But it would have been cooler to let people in for free on their UN-birthday! :D

Looks to me like Disney is feeling the pinch of the shitty economy. Most of the theme parks are. I went to Universal/IOA the other weekend, it was DEAD. Not even close to half capacity. Compared to December when it was to capacity. NO lines though

Wish they'd start it now. My birthday is in October. I'd love to be able to go next month for free. It'll be nice to be able to go in 1 year+ though.

Awesome news! Luckily for me, my birthday falls on a Saturday next year, so I can plan a Disney trip for that weekend. Like buffalobill, though, I wish they'd start this year since my birthday's also next month (and I very well may be going to Disney around that time).

That just makes me feel like the company really want to make their fans happy and not for materialistic reasons. :)

Hmm, where are those people who can make fake IDs when you need them?

Nah seriously though, I'll be going as part of a school trip... it's paid for mostly by fund-raising.

It's too bad my birthday falls on a Friday in January, I have class that day...

On the other hand, maybe I can finally persuade my sister go to Disneyland on her birthday, she hasn't been there since we were kids and she's never been on the PotC ride...

They better not do something whack and push it and start it on January 2nd, cause I want to be the first one to do this ever. New Years at Disneyland is where I will be!

Or that the company already knows that people buy multi-day tickets well in advance and one-day trips are discouraged as much as possible. Plus people who go on their B-day's or go in groups in which everyone else will have to pay and no doubt spend extra on food and merch because they have a birthday guest with them. It's a win win situation for Disney because they still get money from you and a hollow but simple to understand marketing campaign. I have been to Disney on my birthday before and with those crowds I'll never do it again.

As for ID issues 1. Is it a good idea to bring such valuable items on your trip? 2. You can register your B-day online so that they can check your database to see if your not lying. 3. I'm sure Disney is well aware of fake IDs which is why I'm sure they'll be extra careful this time.

Still this new celebration is better than the Year[s] of [2.3]Million [prizes which they never gave to me] Dreams. But I'd rather Disney not try and force a celebration on us and wait for a real reason to party *cough* Disney World's 40th *cough*

Crap, why isn't this promotion international? I live in the Netherlands, and I'd love to go to Disneyland Paris on my birthday. This is a bummer.

That's a cute idea. Birthday kids (or adults ;)) get free admission and I would assume that everyone who accompanies them still pays, which might help them sell more tickets. But it's still a discount, so everybody wins.

Thank goodness my birthday is in the summer!
