I just rented the movie through Netflix. While it wasn't awful, I definitley won't be buying it. The animation was very good, but I just found it to be very boring. A movie where the main point of the story is music, and there's not one decent song. Marinara, or whatever her name was had to be the least scary or intimidating villain I've seen, and her little helper, Ben, was the dumbest character ever. I felt like I was watching Barney or the Care Bears. And I hate when they stick CG in where it doesn't belong. That ship that killed the mother looked horrible. It makes it feel more like a video game than a movie. CG works in some animated movies like Aladdin and Beauty and the beast, but in this movie, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Okay, I won't complain anymore. All I can say is this movie gets 1 star for the 2D animation, but other than that, I was bored out of my mind.

I was just on Jim Dooley's website, and in the Ariel's Beginning section, it said that the scoring clips from the movie would be coming soon. Thats some good news ! From what I have heard of the soundtrack that Disney Villian posted on here, I think its his best work.

Just thought I'd let you know !

I haven't seen this one yet. I am about to order this movie and The Nightmare Before Christmas from Best Buy online. This week they have a special that you can order 2 of 5 movies for $30. You can chose from:
101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure
live-action hits 101 Dalmatians and 102 Dalmatians
The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Any Combo of 2 of the 5 movies above for $30. Not a bad deal, especially with TNBC selling alone for 24.99. I plan on ordering and picking it up from the store.

Just a little FYI for everyone who may not have some of these movies.

This one?

Also, rewatching one mistake, I noticed this:

It looks like a big Nautilus shell, like the one Ursula had.

Yeah :D maybe it's supposed to be Nemo? her anemone looks very similar to Marlin's and Nemo's anemone from Finding Nemo.

The fish in the hat looks nothing like Marlin or Nemo. Or the anemone they live in.

Anemones look pretty damn similar. Nautilus shells too. I think you all are grasping at straws.

Tthe clownfish in Finding Nemo. Marlin, Coral, and Nemo were Ocellaris Clownfish.

The one in Marina's hat I don't even think exists....because of the black band. The band should be white, not black. A mistake on the animator's part. Or simply, they didn't care.

Not to mention, the way her hat branches off....anemones have straight single tentacles. They don''t branch off. I think that is coral. Or a coral/anemone crossbreed that like a clownfish with a black head stripe, doesn't exist.

Hmmm, I sense hostility between two members.

Anyways, thanks for ripping the ST Disney Villain and thanks for setting me straight Siren.

I think its time to play "peace police" around here...

Its obvious why you called DV a "hypocrite". You clearly disagree with him offering MP3s to the film's soundtrack.

From what I understand you are a person of very strong beliefs. So much so that you would fight anyone that goes against it. While admirable at times it does make you seem like a bitter person.

The topic of the MP3s was done with and discussion of the movie has slowed down. Bringing it back up is just going to annoy some.

And Disney Villain, while being upset is understandable its sometimes best to stay quiet and move on. Our egos betray us by trying to pick a fight with those we have a qualm with. This is rampant on online forums because we WANT to be right. I suggest that next time someone is acting rude ignore it. If that person insists notify a mod before starting a fight.

Now the two of you are awesome and talented people. Don't ruin a topic over silly bickering.
