There's a POTC blu ray trilogy box set coming out this Tuesday. From what I've read it's also just a repackaging of the individual releases. I haven't gone blu ray yet so it's not for me.

Only if you want a superfluous outer box and a real DVD for Cars.
Well, I could get one if I wanted to, I just had no interest in watching Cars... if it was more than one disc I'd consider but it's certainly not very high up on my list of favorite Pixar movies, so it's not too big a deal.

So I take it stuff like A Bug's Life isn't in that set? (I never liked that movie much, anyway)

A Bug's Life is in the set.

Like I already said, it's the first 8 Pixar movies, in single-disc form rather than two-disc (for the first six Pixar films).

I am excited about TLM set. It's one of my favorite movies and I love Jodie Benson. I can do without Mulan's box set. I just don't find it necessary or appealing.

I've seen the Pixar one at my local Costco a couple of times. Looks to be an exclusive, but it's obviously is missing Wall-E. I would have tried to take a snapshot or two with my camera phone, only I didn't have it with me at the time.

If anyone sees it and picks it up, can they confirm what type of casing it has, cause it looks thiner than 8 full size DVD cases, is there a nice custom digipak or is it just those lousy thin cases?

Even though I'm not going to buy this as I have them all, I'm just curious, is the Shorts DVD in that set as well? :?:

No it wont have them. Since it is the Ultimate Movie Collection, the shorts probably wont be available.

although i've seen a few websites advertise this as a 14 disc set, no other "official" website, such as amazon, says it's anything other than a 8 disc set. Since there are 8 films and only 8 discs I'd say that's all that's on it. To be honest, I can't even be too sure if there are any special features at all.

I feel like this set had a lot of potential, but just didn't deliver. That's what you get for trying to slap 8 films in one set though.

Hmm, *7* discs for Pirates?

I have the 2-disc of Pirates 1 (was there any other?) and the 2-disc "limited editions" of movies 2 and 3. Where would this 7th disc be coming from? I might actually need to find it somewhere if it contains stuff not on the 6 discs I already have...

There's only three discs for TLM and Peter Pan box sets. There should be four in each, if they're just re-packaging the DVDs the way they were released. Maybe an Amazon mistake?

Edit: I also REALLY want to see what the cover of the Peter Pan box set will be. I love the one that was released in France (?). I think it was France. The one with his shadow.

Sounds like it might be the "lost disc" that was offered at Wal-Mart for a time?

My thoughts exactly, although I can't imagine why it would be included. From what I remember people saying it wasn't really anything to get very excited about...

Thanks to the Best Buy exclusive DVDs, I've got a 9 Disc collection of Pirates films. It'd be 10 (or 14) if I was able to get the Soundtrack Treasures Collection.

If that December 16 boxset for POTC is the two-disc sets and a boxset exclusive DVD that isn't the Lost Disc, I will be very annoyed.

Hopefully it's the contents of the Lost Disc, the DMC Best Buy disc, and the AWE Best Buy disc. Then I wouldn't have to worry about double-dipping and those that don't have the exclusive discs need not worry anymore.

Being as you get all of the "Lost" disc's features on the Blu-ray of the first Pirates film, it only makes sense to put it into a new three film collection, or else people would complain again about Blu-ray getting preferential treatment.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Woah, that's news to me. What Best Buy exclusive discs? I know some movies had it... never knew Pirates did. Mine are just the 2-disc ones I bought at Target.

What all is on those? If they're any good I can surf eBay or look for an ISO somewhere... because I like stocking up on bonus features :)

Dead Man's Chest Best Buy Bonus Disc Features: (38 minutes, 13 seconds)
-Pirates On Location - two behind-the-scenes featurettes that focus on filming in these two particular sets. Mainly promotional fluff, but with some great footage. The Cannibal Island one is particularly interesting. (11:56)
--Cannibal Island (8:18 )
--Tortuga Bar Brawl (3:38 )

-Inside Dead Man's Chest - three rather EPK-ish featurettes focusing on their respective topics. Disposable but still enjoyable to watch for the lightheardedness. (9:36)
--Pirate Lore (2:35)
--Location & Sets (4:18 )
--Story & Characters (2:39)

-Pirates Around the World - a collection of trailers. I was on cloud nine when I found these were on the disc. (16:41)
--Theatrical Trailers (9:59)
---English (2:03)
---French (1:57)
---Portuguese (2:02)
---Italian (1:58 )
---German (1:59)
--Teaser Trailers (6:42)
---English (1:43)
---Spanish (1:41)
---Italian (1:39)
---German (1:39)

-Stills from the Set - does exactly what it says on the tin (39 Stills)

At World's End Best Buy Bonus Disc Features: (45 minutes, 9 seconds)
-Pirates of the Salt Flats - it's like the easter egg featurette about filming at Salt Flats, except longer and better. (8:25)

-Acting Below The Surface - a sort of "Anatomy of a Scene" showing how the actors prepared for and how the director shot the scenes with them underwater on the upside down Black Pearl. (6:46)

-The Return of the Dutchmen - a featurette about the Dutchman. While it is a good featurette, I haven't watched it since I got it so I don't remember much about it. (10:34)

-Destroying the Endeavour - a really spectacular look at...destroying the Endeavour. One of my favorites on the disc, with some good b-roll footage of the explosions before the effects are added. (8:14)

-From Wax to Will: Orlando and Madame Tussauds - a fun featurette that looked at how much development went into the Will Turner wax figure. (4:14)

-World's End: World Premieres - footage from the premieres. (6:56)

Aside from the trailers (which they should've included, dammit!), the DMC Best Buy featurettes are pretty disposable and not to be missed by some (though I did like them). However, all the material on the AWE Best Buy disc is really great stuff, and they really should have been included on the two-disc (and there was room!).

Is that it?
Or is that just the two-disc I already have (if it is, ew $30 for two discs... I paid $20)?

I might have to start looking on eBay or something... but if the extras aren't that great I probably have no real use for them.
