Favourite 'father figure' from a Disney movie?
Next to hero/heroin, villain and sidekick there is often a father figure in a supporting role in a Disney movie. Sometimes a natural parent, sometimes adoptive, either human or animal. They may be foolish, wise, supporting or in conflict with their offspring, but mostly they are loving and caring parents.
In short, which father figure is your favourite?
P.S: My apologies if you are missing certain persons, but I cannot add more options to the poll.

I voted for Mr. Banks. He's such a funny figure. At first he doesn't seem such a good dad: he doesn't pay enough attention to his children, is to occupied with his work and to obsessed with so-called discipline. But in the end he comes round and sees how great it is to have fun with his kids.
Other father-figures I quite like:
- king Triton
- Fa Zhou
- Kerchak ( o.k so he has a hard time accepting Tarzan, but I understand his motives for wanting to protect his 'tribe' - underneath he has a good heart. He's a complex figure and I like that)
- Maurice: he may be a bit weird with his odd inventions, but at least he's not such a bumbling idiot like the sultan or professor Porter.
- Mufasa

Geppetto is my absolute favorite. He's the father'd I'd want to have. He's loving and doesn't lose his temper like nearly every other father on this list. I like King Triton, too, as he's just the average father (not perfect, but not entirely horrible either). Zeus also looks pretty hilarious.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
Definitely not King Triton if thats what your thinking...
I voted for Mufasa, he's a good dad thats strict sometimes but knows how to have fun and forget about a bad situation. Gepetto is probably my second choice.

"Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king. Remember who you are" - wish I had a dad like that

I chose Mufasa simply because out of all the Disney fathers he's the most balanced. He's wise, strong and stern, but loves to have fun, is very caring and a great guardian.
The problem with the Disney Fathers is that they are either so uptight that its amazing someone married them or very sweet and kind, but completely absent minded. There's no balance or credibility in the character and at times you hate them for being so imposing on the main character (Triton, I am looking at YOU!).

I agree with you for the greatest part. Disney fathers mostly seem to be either 'uptight' or ''kind and sweet, but absent minded'', but I take an exception to Fa Zhou. (apart from Mufasa). He is kind and caring , but certainly not absent minded. The only time you can call him uptight is when he feels it is his duty to sign up for the army - which I think is understandable. On occasion Gepetto is also absent-minded, but he does not have the childish behaviour of the Sultan or Professor Porter. Maurice is also a more balanced character than these two.
Yeah, those are definitely the exception to the rule.BelleGirl wrote:pap64 wrote:I chose Mufasa simply because out of all the Disney fathers he's the most balanced. He's wise, strong and stern, but loves to have fun, is very caring and a great guardian.

I voted for the Sultan, although I think I'd rather be his friend than son. Think of all the crazy cooky advetures you'd have with him. He's a man with simple interests. I can imagin taking him to WDW and seeing his face when he see's Mickey for the first time!
I just realized how much of a total role reversal being his child would be...
