Five words: Batman and Robin Pop Tarts.
Anyone remember those? I do.
But anyways. papa64 you definately kind of cleared things up, I think. I totally disagreed that the film was "overrated" but I couldn't think of how else to put it in simple wording. Overmerchandising works.
And car toys ARE popular, consider Hot Wheels. It's kind of why the Disney Princesses are popular and (dare I say) overmerchandised, because they're in the same vein as Barbies (NOT the films, mind those of you who might get offended by that comment, JUST the dolls and toys. You can hardly call a Pixar film, EVEN Cars, "Hot Wheels," their merchandise just has similar appeal).
Anyone know about those Disney character themed Hot Wheel-esque cars sold in the Disney Parks? If that's any indication of car-related toys popularity. I liked Hot Wheels and other toy cars when I was younger, and look at those Disney cars from time to time to see if there's one I simply can't live without (haven't ever seen one, but I'm sure if I were 6-7 years younger... I'd buy 'em all).
ALSO: (just thought of this) I really love films like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, etc. and I don't consider them "girl" films, just like I don't consider Cars, Pirates, Narnia "boy" films. A majority of their merchandise (in the boy's case, action figures, playsets, NOT notebooks and I <3 Jack Sparrow t-shirts), however, it's a little different. Hot Wheels are "boy toys" and Barbies are "girl toys." I know I've heard Ariel'sprince bring this up on MANY threads, and while I think it's wrong, it's not only McDonald's and Disney, it's just the world, regrettably.
