I am absolutely amazed at how much it seems Disney is stepping up with this release, and that list of features, espcially on my favorite Disney film. Now why can't October 7th come faster?! :p

I have heard about a clip on the new restauration. This clip is available here : http://disney.go.com/videos/#/videos/cl ... ent=167325. The bad news is that I can't watch this video because I live outside the US. Could somebody give me a link where I can watch the video ?

Thanks.

Ugh,not only we"re getting the DVD in November,we"re getting it in 1 disc edition! just like the Cinderella,Little Mermaid and Lady And The Tramp PEs! :x well, then I"ll buy the US release, thought that's okay since the US releases are more creative.
But we"re actually getting lots of stuff from UK and US (The Nightmare Before and WALL-E will be in 2 discs,we"re also getting TinkerBell,Little Mermaid boxest,Camp Rock,Ariel's Beginning (In October thought),some Hannah Montana DVD and the dance version of High School Musical).

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that Ariel's Prince. Feel so sorry for you ! IT's not right that some places should be deprived of the 2 Disc Special Editions ...

It's okay :) yeah,it's not right at all :x,thought it's not the first it happens,I wonder why this usually happens with Princess films, actually the Peter Pan,101 Dalmatians and Jungle Book PEs were released here in 2 discs.
Which country are you from, Ariel'sprince?
Israel,It's or they hate Disney and animation fans or they think that only 5 years old kids buy these films :x.

^that's really interesting, the prospect that they are only downplaying the princess releases. Is the whole Disney Princess campaign big in Israel?

Yeah, there's almost everywhere merchandise of the Princesses and they"re popular (They even brought Enchanted Tales merchandise thought Enchanted Tales wasn't released here) but I have no idea why they"re only releasing them in single discs editions, thought Lady And The Tramp isn't a Princess movie and it got a single disc edition too, thought Aladdin and Mulan got 2 discs editions.
Snow White and Beauty And The Beast were also released in a single disc edition.

It's not that bad in Germany, but they think similary (Disney=for children). Little Mermaid and Snow White only got a single Disc and some movies (Tarzan, Lilo&Stitch, Bedknobs&Broomsticks,...) are even cut to get the lowest age restriction. :x

Fortunately, you can always import from the US or UK.

What do you mean about the age? anyway yeah,it's also terrible here, the Finding Nemo DVD for exmaple was terrible (Over here, the dubbing is only for the small kids and almost everything was dubbed, even the clips with concept arts of character, why on earth they think that a 7 years old whould care how Dory almost looked like?) and the subtitles were awful (Darla says Baracuda, the subtitles says Pirana and they made up dumb names for characters, last time I have seen I just change it to English subtitles).
Yeah, that's good :D (That's how I got the Little Mermaid and Cinderella PEs and Enchanted Tales).

Being from Israel too, maybe I can shed some light on the whole issue. See, the ones responsible for distributing Disney movies here in Israel are borderline schizophrenic. At times they'll try to market it for the niche collector market and at times they'll just downplay it as a kid product that parents should buy for 'em. As for the general market; Well, lets just say not many here appreciate Disney for its sophisticated storytelling and music. People here tend to appreciate Disney as, well a good babysitter for the kids.

I didn't knew that you"re from Isreal too,I"m glad to hear that :D.
Yeah, that's pretty much how it's over here thought the Princess line is popular here.

@ Ariel'sprince, I ment:
The FSK (like the MPAA in the US) gives an age certification, but if it's to high (like only for 6 year olds), Disney Germany cuts the "bad" scenes out.

Examples (sorry, they're in German):

http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittb ... hp?ID=1116
http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittb ... hp?ID=1004

The images stand for the cut out scenes

Has anyone heard if the DVD will also include a 4:3 pan and scan version of the movie like the previous DVD had, or the Lady and the Tramp Platinum Edition had?

Yes I know the benefits of Widescreen and that is the version I want. I just know a lot of people that are going to absolutely hate the 2.55:1 ratio.

^I highly doubt it'll appear on the disc.

Personally, I'd love to watch it out of curiosity. Then again, it would take up too much space (is there enough space at all? The first disc alone seems jam packed) which would lower the quality of the 2.55:1 version.

Actually it's not that bad in Germany. Lilo & Stitch and Tarzan are the only animated classics which were cut. The two films which were really garbled, are "Pete's Dragon" and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks". These two are approx. 30 respectively 45 mins. shorter than the Originals!

Since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs we got just one PE as single-disc-editon- The little Mermaid.
I'm pretty sure, the reason why we did not get both Discs is that many fans threatened Buena Vista Germany since 2005 to boycott the release because of the second dubbing, in case they're not releasing the old, too. Well, they didn't.
