These boxsets will be the death of me one of these days, there's just too many that I want and not enough time to be able to go through them (unless I go hide myself in a cabin for two months). This one is essentially the four "Franchise Collection" sets re-authored onto single-sided discs (making it 15 discs instead of 8!), and I think some of the commentaries are new (the one for Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein is from its old single-disc release), while all the other extras (the bonus disc docs, trailers, etc.) are from the previous collections and the few single-disc releases there were. Still, I'd rather get this megaset than the Franchise Collections, as I hate double-sided discs and I want the commentaries.

Albert!

ETA: for some reason, the date didn't show up (28 ), though the month did. Fixed it.

ETAA: it didn't show up again, so I removed "Universal".

Wow! I gotta get this! I only have the Volume 3 collection right now. But I just found out about the Little Rascals set coming out, and I'm dying for that one too! Don't know where the money's gonna come from, ha. I'm still trying to get the rest of the Young Indy sets (only have the first) and haven't even started on the Looney Tunes. It's all I can do to keep up with Disney Treasures and their rare Disney Afternoon releases. I wonder if a Stooges set like this will come out...

I would have gotten Volume 3 as well (for Meets Frankenstein and Go to Mars), but it never was a priority for me. Of course, now I won't bother since this set is being released!

I totally forgot about the Little Rascals set! And it comes out the same day as this one! Dammit, why oh why do all the great DVD sets come out in the fall?

At least you have one of the sets. I'm still getting by on my lone VHS of "Treasure of the Peacock's Eye".

This may be good for me but it may not. I need all of 'em but Bud & Lou's Public Domain films and Vol. 1 of the Franchise Collections. I just don't like double dippin'. :|

Hmm... 119 retail seems kind of steep, but on the other hand, I only have volume volume 2 (and a couple of single discs, such as A&C Meet Frankenstein, Meet the Mummy, etc.)

I do like the idea of single sided discs, Universal is notorious for double-sided discs that cause problems.

The primary reason I got Volume 3 was Meet Frankenstein, which is simply one of my favorite films.

The thing that bothers me about buying these big sets now, is I'm wondering how long till they get Blu-Ray releases....
I'm already feeling the Blu-Ray burn of recent purchase like Heroes Season 1.

And I still need to get that big standard-DVD Superman release, the Star Wars set with the original film versions, and plenty of other standard DVD sets.

Yeah, I had all those Young Indy VHS releases, and you can imagine how annoyed I was when they never completed that set. Though, now I guess I should be glad.
