Which Witch is which? Who is your favourite Disney Witch?
Wicked Queen/Peddler Woman - Maleficent- Ursula - Mad Madam Mim - Witch Hazel ? All great Witchy heroines or villainesses depending upon your view which Witch is which for you?
I love the Wicked Queen/Peddler Woman but I also love Maleficent and the rest of the gals!
Please post as many pictures of these great characters - I am so looking forward to Sleeping Beauty this October and to Snow White * next year - I can't wait to see those great new transfers!! Please post any screen captures/ plus any great Villain photographs!!
* I love the extra few seconds cut from the Apple Dipping sequence Boil Cauldron Boil , in which the Witch or Peddler Woman stirs the great cauldron of poison brew with a giant bone as skulls float upwards, on the previously issued Laserdisc boxset there was the Pencil test for this sequence as well as the finished footage cut from the final movie version , and so I'm really hoping that this re-appears on the new Platinum Edition of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 2009!!!

My favorite is Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler) from Hocus Pocus.
Of the animated ones only, my fave is probably Madam Mim, though I enjoy Witch Hazel a lot too, and the hag from Snow White is the spookiest.

I'm glad someone said that--I always loved that movie. Midler plays the part very well.My favorite is Winifred Sanderson (Bette Midler) from Hocus Pocus.
But Ursula is my favorite, if you even had to ask. I also like Madam Mim. I'm not too impressed by the others. Still, I like how, with every "sorceress," they give a unique design. Witches can very easily be generic, and Disney's always found a way to give a new interpretation every time.

Listening to most often lately:
Christina Aguilera ~ "Cruz"
Sombr ~ "homewrecker"
Megan Moroney ~ "Beautiful Things"
Don't kill me but, Who the heck is Witch Hazel? I have never heared of her before...
Anyways, my favorite would probably be Maleficent...or Mad Madame Mim for her wackiness...

I would say Maleficant, as she really is a rich character (mind you, so are most of the female Disney villains) . Yes, as people have said, she is technically an evil fairy (in the original fairy-tale by Charles Perrault, at least, and I believe that the Disney Studios intended her to be so), but like all evil fairies, she acts much like a witch and could easily be mistaken for one such creature. So I think that she may as well be included.
I also have just been reminded of Miss Price from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, who deserves a little nod somewhere. And of course, there's also Mombi from Return to Oz. I'd take off my hat for her...perhaps even my head.

My favorite witch is a tie between Samantha Stevens (Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched) & Gillian (Kim Novak in Bell, Book & Candle).
Edit: Favorite Disney witch is Ursula the Sea Witch (kind of confusing since the original poster lists Witch Hazel as a choice & she is a WB witch not Disney).

15 gallon 7 pint blood donor as of 1-4-11. Done donating. Apparently having Cancer makes you kind of ineligible to donate.

My favourite Disney Witch? I'd have to say Eglantine Price.
I also love Aggie Cromwell, played by Debbie Reynolds in the Halloweentown movies!
