While not as great as it used to be, Toon Disney is where we got to watch some of the old animated shows.
Thanks a lot, Disney, for taking away:
Chip N'Dale: Rescue Rangers
TaleSpin
Ducktales
Quack Pack
And more!
UGH! I AM FURIOUS!
NOBODY WILL WATCH YOUR XD CHANNEL, DISNEY! Boys are allowed to like Disney Channel just as much as girls! This just irritates me.![]()
What is the e-mail address for The Disney Channel? They are getting an e-mail from me.

I really hope they do a Vault Disney channel that features older shows (Though Disney would just ruin it like they did with their other channels).

DISNEY TO RE-BRAND TOON DISNEY AS DISNEY XD
WITH ANIMATED AND LIVE-ACTION PROGRAMMING
GEARED PRIMARILY TOWARD BOYS
-- Transition Set for February 2009 on TV, VOD, Mobile and Online --
BURBANK, August 7, 2008 . . . Disney will re-brand its Toon Disney television and online platforms in the U.S. to become Disney XD. The new brand will include a compelling mix of live-action and animated programming for kids age 6-14, hyper-targeting boys and their quest for discovery, accomplishment, sports, adventure and humor. The transition will begin in February 2009 on television, online, mobile and VOD platforms. The programming will span series, movies and short-form, as well as sports-themed programming developed with ESPN. The announcement was made today by Rich Ross, President, Disney Channels Worldwide. The channel is a 24-hour, advertiser supported network and currently reaches nearly 70 million households via its basic cable affiliates.
For the 19 Jetix channels and six Toon Disney branded channels and programming in all other parts of the world, any potential re-branding decisions will be made on a case by case basis at a later date.
Ross said: “Disney Channel is a huge business serving kids all around the world, and it's especially successful with girls, and our goal with Disney XD is to have that same success ratio with boys. Disney XD will showcase great stories and empowering characters with Disney's brand credibility and a cool creative factor that will set it apart from the pack."
Disney XD will be the seventh brand in the kid-driven, family inclusive TV and radio business of The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS). The global portfolio encompasses Playhouse Disney, Disney Channel, Radio Disney, Disney Cinemagic, Toon Disney and Jetix.
Disney XD programming will reflect the boy demographic’s fundamental values of accomplishment, learning, discovery and growth, and will be differentiated by Disney-branded live-action movies, new and library animated programming and original programming developed with the leader in sports entertainment, ESPN. These initiatives range from original programming to newly packaged X Games content.
The Disney XD launch schedule will include:
"Aaron Stone" – an original live-action, single camera adventure series about a teenager who is enlisted to become the real life version of a legendary, crime fighting online game character. The series stars Kelly Blatz, David Lambert, JP Manoux ("ER," Disney Channel's "The Emperor's New School" and "Phil of the Future") and Tania Gunadi (Disney Channel's "Pixel Perfect" and "Go Figure"). Executive-produced by Bruce Kalish (Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson") and Suzanne French ("Overruled!" "Life with Derek"), the series is produced in High Definition (HD) format by Shaftesbury Services II, Inc.
"Mongoose & Luther (working title) – an original comedy, filmed in single camera documentary style, about two best friends who set their sights on becoming world famous skateboarders. Starring are Hutch Dano, Adam Hicks, Daniel Curtis Lee and Ryan Newman. The creators and executive producers are Matt Dearborn and Tom Burkhard (both of Disney Channel's "Even Stevens"). Filmed in HD format, the series is a production of Turtle Rock Productions, Inc.
"Hero and Not" (working title) -- an animated short-form series produced in Italy by Studio Bozzetto & Co SRL.
"RoboDz" -- a comedic 3D, CG-animated and live action short form series co-produced by Toei Animation Company Ltd., and Walt Disney Television International Japan.
Disney's animated hit "Phineas and Ferb" -- television's #1 animated series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 and, among all primetime animated series on TV, #4 among Boys 6-11 and #3 among Boys 6-14.
"Batman: The Animated Series," "Superman: The Animated Series," "Spider-Man" and "Iron Man."
Disney's flagship TV content provider, Disney Channel, is already the leader in the Girl 6-14 demographic with hit series ("Hannah Montana" and "Wizards of Waverly Place") and the gold-standard in live-action movies for kids and families ("Camp Rock," "High School Musical" and "The Cheetah Girls"). For 2007, Disney Channel was basic cable's #1 channel in primetime among Total Viewers (2.69 million), the biggest total audience for any cable network on record. It was also #1 in primetime for the fifth year running in Kids 6-11, with a streak of seven straight years in Tweens 9-14. In total day measurement, it was #1 among Tweens 9-14. Disney Channel's success continues in 2008. As of last week, Disney Channel primetime has been #1 among Kids 6-11 for 172 consecutive weeks and #1 among Tweens 9-14 for 168 consecutive weeks.
Disney Channels Worldwide is a portfolio of Disney's successful and burgeoning global kids' TV business: Disney Channels, Toon Disney/Jetix in the U.S. (which will switch to Disney XD), Playhouse Disney channels and Jetix channels in Europe and Latin America, which in total reach more than 600 million viewers in over 100 countries in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and South Africa. The group's multiplatform strategy includes subscription video-on-demand and content-rich broadband websites Jetix.tv and DisneyChannel.com. The Radio
Disney Network, which has set the radio industry standard for kid and family content over the past decade, is also part of the portfolio. Disney Channels Worldwide is part of the Disney-ABC Television Group, a division of The Walt Disney Company.

PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN ON THE LIVE-ACTION
ADVENTURE SERIES "AARON STONE" TO PREMIERE IN FEBRUARY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE
RE-BRANDED CHANNEL, DISNEY XD
BURBANK, August 7, 2008. . . Production has begun on the live-action original series "Aaron Stone" for premiere in February, coinciding with the launch of the newly re-branded kids' entertainment channel, Disney XD.
The single camera production, filmed in High Definition (HD) in Toronto, stars newcomer Kelly Blatz as Charlie Landers, a teenager who is enlisted to become the real life version of a legendary, crime fighting online game character. Also starring are JP Manoux ("ER," "Disney Channel's "The Emperor's New School" and "Phil of the Future") as Aaron Stone's android robot, Stan, Tania Gunadi (Disney Channel's "Pixel Perfect" and "Go Figure") as his friendly neighbor, Emma and David Lambert as his pesky little brother, Jason.
"’Aaron Stone’ is an example of Disney's commitment to entertainment that delivers on what kids and especially boys want – relevant, relatable characters with themes of accomplishment and getting to the next level," said Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Series. "With an inspiring lead character like Aaron Stone and a certain cool factor that will keep boys engaged, the series is a perfect fit for the upcoming Disney XD branded channel."
In "Aaron Stone," young Charlie Landers is the best player in the popular online console game, Hero Rising, with his now legendary crime fighting avatar of Aaron Stone. When a billionaire recluse enlists him to become the 'real life' Aaron Stone, Charlie's world is changed forever. Living with a single mom and younger brother, Charlie feels the pressure to take care of his family, but he quickly learns he must become Aaron Stone to keep his family safe. With the help of Stan, Charlie learns to secretly fight crime while coping with his normal life of school, sports and family.
"Aaron Stone" was created by Bruce Kalish (Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson") and is executive produced by Kalish and Suzanne French ("Overruled!" and "Life with Derek"). The series is a production of Shaftesbury Services II, Inc.

[Yeah, I've noticed they've been showing the superhero shows extremely often lately."Batman: The Animated Series," "Superman: The Animated Series," "Spider-Man" and "Iron Man."
Aaron Stone actually sounds interesting, if Jett Jackson is any indication (that was one of the few Disney shows I enjoyed). I could care less about the skateboarding show though. I just don't understand why they have no plans to incorporate Hercules and Aladdin into this new channel, both of which are male-oriented for the most part and very Disney. And what about Digimon? That's the only Jetix show I ever have the urge to watch.
Ah well. I guess this'll be another reason not to watch the Disney channels.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

aaron stone sounds interesting, even watchable. the skateboarding show.. skateboarding is kind of dumb. someone i used to be very good friends with pretends to be so interested in it, and he can barely do any REAL tricks. it's stupid, and half the people who do it are posers. ANYWAYS, regardless of my rant -which in no way was meant to offend anyone- even stevens is one of the best shows in disney channel history, i think, and i love mockumentary, so i meant check it out.
i won't have the channel anyways. i'll have to watch them on the online disney xd.

i ALSO look forward to the movies they'll show on that channel. i've always wanted to see pirates of the caribbean and chronicles of narnia on disney channel. i hope they don't make as many made for TV movies, they're on disney channel like EVERY night. then again, the ones targetted at boys were usually the better.

Did it say when? I'm asking because I wonder if, when "The Suite Life on Deck" starts, will Disney Channel still air TSLoZ&C, or will it be shown exclusively on Toon Disney/Disney XD?UmbrellaFish wrote:Just wanted to point out that I recently saw a commercial that "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" is coming to Toon Disney. You're welcome Amy!
It seems to me that this whole channel will be Jetix extended. As a Gargoyles fan I'm crossing my fingers that "Gargoyles" will get on this channel, and in a relatively good timeslot!musicradio77 wrote:I don't know what's going to happen with Jetix. I don't know about Jetix remaining. I was keeping an eye on Digimon (comes on every night at 10 where I am) for when season 5 ended, because it usually re-runs and I wanted to tape the first season (which I only have the second half of, unfortunately). But it no longer has any listings for Digimon. Just Batman, Iron Man, the Hulk, Spiderman, etc. etc. etc. What crap.
I thought the announcement said this would start next year, not September 1st? This just irritates me more and more.
