Well, apparrently, The Monkey's Uncle is finally coming out - - but as a Disney Movie Club release.

Too bad it won't be in stores and available to the general public, but at least it will be available.

Will it be remastered? Have a trailer? Textless title sequence bonus? I doubt it. But I hope people find a way to buy it (and we get more Annette titles to boot -- Escapade in Florence next?).

I cant say anything about quality but according to some listings on Ebay there are no bonus features and of course its in the full screen format.

Just got it in the mail today (they had sold out of them- it took me 3 weeks to get it!)

Here's a screenshot from the dvd:

There are no extras at all, and yes it's in fullscreen. However, it looks really good!

I also grabbed Moon Pilot and So Dear to My Heart, and they too have beautiful transfers. So Dear to My Heart contains (what I believe to be) the same extras found on the 2002 release, which I never bought.

If anyone wants more screenshots of Monkey's Uncle I can post more from my dvd.

Like you Merlin, I was glad to hear that they sold out (and not just Monkey's Uncle- they had sold out of all 3 most recent releases :jawdrop: - and this came from the mouth of a Disney "cast" member), so hopefully they'll release more (they seem to have gotten the picture with 6 "vintage" releases in the last 2 months).

I hope beyond hope that Sammy the Way-Out Seal comes soon, as well as Child of Glass (an October release maybe????)

But any and all of your suggestions would be great!!!!

No, the Brazilian release (compatible with Region 1 players) contains about a half hour of narrated behind the scenes footage which is a true treat and a joy to watch and hear. This archival footage has been replaced with two cartoon shorts on the new Disney Exclusive release.

Ahh, okay- well I'm just glad to have my version whether it's got all those other extras or not. I'm fine with what's on the exclusive- if Disney can't release something in America, I'm not buying it. :)

Okay, for anyone who has this release, the Monkey's Uncle, is there a way to get the dang subtitles off? I haven't found a way yet, and they are quite annoying. It just automatically played w/them, no option on the menu screen to turn them off. Thanks is appreciated.
I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

I have no idea if this will help as I don't have the release, but I noticed on some of my DVDs with Fastplay, if you view the feature in Fastplay mode, it automatically puts a subtitle over the end credits saying "stay tuned for bonus features after the movie" or something lame like that.

Of course I was relieved to see these titles were not displayed when viewing in the standard (non-FP) mode, but still did some experimenting and found that in FP mode, the subtitles over the end credits could be deactivated by my DVD player itself, which has a display where you can scroll the various audio mixes and subtitle tracks found on the DVD.

So perhaps if the DVD menu itself has no screen to turn off the titles, a button on your DVD player remote will be able to take you to the subtitle mode viewed through your DVD player, which could then theoretically be set to "OFF".

"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

I just wish collectors in Australia like me could get titles from Disney Movie Club without having to deal with profiteers on Amazon Marketplace or Ebay.
