What do you want to see on Blu-Ray?
What do you want to see on Blu-Ray?
Now that HD-DVD is six feet under a decent amount of people should have Blu-Ray players or PS3's by now. But the Blu-Ray catalogue although decent is still somewhat lacking. What do you want to see on Blu-Ray ASAP?
Me?
Star Wars Saga (Probably a few years off)
Indiana Jones Tetralogy (Probably sometime in 2009 with KOTCS out along with the DVD)
Jaws (Probably in 2009)
E.T (Probably a few years off since the 25th Anniversary passed with no word)
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children (Should be here in early 2009)
Superman Series (Probably when the next film comes out on DVD)

Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi (original versions not the Special Editions)
Back to the Future Trilogy
and the Indiana Jones Series
Probably have to wait a few years for all of these. Although Back to the Future might happen first (Wasn't it shown in a HD DVD ad one time?). I think there is no chance we will see the original Star Wars Trilogy in its original form on Blu-ray, but I can hope.

The Rocketeer
Hocus Pocus
The Happiest Millionaire
Hercules
The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band
The Swan Princess (region 1 DVD isn't)
The Great Locomotive Chase

Ben-Hur (next year)
North by Northwest (next year)
Babes in Toyland (1961)
Oliver!
Something Wicked This Way Comes
Return to Oz
The Great Mouse Detective
and just because I feel like it:
Around the World in 80 days (1956)
Oklahoma! (these two in their Todd-AO glory with the curved screen effect)
Condorman (because it's been OOP for so long)
Midnight Madness (ditto, and I'm just curious to see it)

Well, I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet (as for the Play-Station 3, I'm not really interested in that, in all fairness), I probably won't be getting one until after I've finished my degree (which will be two years time, so not extremely long). I have to say, however, that whilst I will be probably upgrading some things, the leap for me won't be like with video with an uncontrollable desire to upgrade nearly every title. I'll likely upgrade it if the bonus features are substantially better the DVD's features, but I wouldn't upgrade a film that I like just because it's in HD, to be honest. These are some films, however, that I will most likely upgrade just for the hell of it, whether the Blu-Ray blows away the DVD bonus features or not. I'm probably gonna forget some here, but my list today includes:
The Wizard of Oz
Return to Oz
Labyrinth
Casablanca
The Apartment
Back to the Future films
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Stardust
Amelie
Pinocchio
Sleeping Beauty
Okay, most of the obvious Disney classics, and some of the Pixar stuff too
Classic Disney shorts (or at least some of them...would get the ones which I didn't manage to get on DVD either way)
The Simpsons (again, most likely only some of them)
And some things already out which I'm trying not to get on DVD as the Blu-Ray is already out and I kinda wanna save it for that format (most likely I'll blow and go and splurge though):
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Enchanted
Pan's Labyrinth
The Wizard of Oz
Return to Oz
Labyrinth

Ideally I would want everything...and there are too many to name and remember so here is my short quick list:
Breakfast Club (it has to be coming)
Jaws (with the E! story on it...only cause you can see my dad)
Back to the Future
Wizard of Oz (that has to be coming too)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (for my boyfriend)
And I'm VERY VERY excited for Nightmare Before Christmas
I can't think of anything else...i'm too lazy
Anything Disney
In a perfect world....Mr. Boogedy
All the tv series/movies that aren't released yet

I could crank out a list, but my most wanted are all pretty much guaranteed release eventually---titles in the Platinum series, Mary Poppins, The Nightmare Before Christmas---
I'll settle for saying I'll be satisfied if WDHE ever gets around to announcing a Pixar catalog title to street alongside WALL*E this fall. Nemo was announced, then pushed back to 2009 with no replacement mentioned, then teased again on Disney's own short-lived Home Entertainment Forum. Last year I was spoiled by the simultaneous release of Cars, Ratatouille, and the Pixar Shorts---I'll cry like a crack baby without two features this year.
And Destino. although I wonder how they'll create a marketable release centered around a nine-minute title feature.
