Frog Princess found & renamed!

I came to the site with the soul intention to see if there was any news on a "The Princess and the Frog" trailer. Lo, and behold, here it is! I'm so excited!
It seems like forever since Disney's animation department came to a halt.

I have to agree, the animation of Tiana is quite exaggerated when compared to Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, etc. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it just yet, since I am so accustomed to the more realistic approach.

It seems pretty obvious that he's going to be the narrator of the story, so better get used to him now.

By the way, does the skyline remind anyone else of Ratatouille? That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

Do you think that the teaser is based on a scene from the film? and it's not an actual scene? Like most the Pixar films's teasers (Like the Finding Nemo teaser with Dory scaring fishes and Ratatouille one with Remy stealing some food,I wonder why didn't had such teaser).

Such a great start. Absolutely fantastic. Right up until the point she opens her mouth and we have to listen to that awful dialogue.

Anyhow, I can't help burst into laughter at the "nice firm handshake" line.

But the whole silly-ness of the trailer, with the pouting lips and spontaneous movements kind of reinforce that lack of "classicness" that was present in all the other disney princess movies. Based off the trailer, it's comedy is closer to Chicken Little. That's just my opinion though.

I liked it alot up until the moment that firefly showed up. Bad memories of the gargoyles in Hunchback soon followed. I just hope that the other "cute marketable animated charactres" are likeably silent like the frog.

We could be being really picky, but I don't remember such a character in the other Princess movies! Gaston's sidekick I just recalled but he fit the part.

it reminded me of the castle intro, the full length version. minus the castle. I think I even see the same river or whatever way in the background.

The trailer was great! It really peaked my interest in the film (and I have to admit I was starting to lose interest since nothing new about the film had come along in a while). I love the frog's facial expressions, the backgrounds, music, and Tiana's voice. I think this is very promising. And I don't think this film has to be or should be just like every other princess film. It already has a sort of "refreshing" quality about it.

That's what I was thinking too. From the synopsis on IMDB, it's set in the Jazz era, which is not too long ago, so I have a feeling it's going to feel more modern than timeless. Then again Aladdin, while having a lot of modern elements, still is timeless in my eyes.
I still don't "get" this movie just yet. The background looks like something from Aladdin or BATB, and the animation looks like it comes from the later movies such as "Lilo and Stitch" and "Emperor," which had more stylized backgrounds.

I also feel something was off, maybe the whole comedy approach. I don't remember them doing trailers like that for the other fairytales. The firefly also bugs me, he seems like a stereotyped "hick" with the missing teeth and all. I always hated that there are always a few characters in most Disney animation that look...well, 'retarded' (no offense meant, that is the word that just jumps to mind). Like in BatB, you have all these beautifully drawn characters, even Gaston, but then LeFou looks all exagerrated and silly, not even very much resembling real people. I know he was comedy relief but characters like that almost take me out of the experience. Tiana does look absolutely beautiful though!

I think the writing for the trailer was pretty poor. The animation looked pretty decent, but the dialogue was completely forced for both the princess and the firefly. My thinking is that not too much time was "wasted" on a trailer for that kind of stuff.

I sincerely hope that it is just the trailer, and not a sign of what we should actually expect in the movie.

Love the animation, but to me, it seemed like they were trying way too hard to get some comedy into it. It's good to finally get some info on the film, though.

Also, I think this is a teaser trailer, like the trailers for Lilo and Stitch featuring the "fab four". Although, I thought only Pixar did teaser trailers? Hmm. Nonetheless, I really liked the trailer and of course, I'll be watching this in theaters.

My feelings mirror views posted here. I like it over all, but I have to criticise it as well. I'm guessing that this trailer has been created intentionally as a humorous teaser trailer, much like what has been done with the Pixar films. The problem is that this particuler teaser isn't all that funny and I personally feel that it doesn't work for the type of film that The Princess and the Frog is. Had the trailer not so much emphasis on the cartoony humour, it probably would have been okay or had the trailer been a bit of fluff chronicling the legacy of Disney and claiming how this film is a new classic, (lame as it sounds) it probably would have been okay. Watching it again, as ichabod stated, it's really the dialogue that's what makes it unfunny. And the whole part with the firefly seems just shoved into the trailer without much forethought. It doesn't damper my anticipation too much, though. Let's hope that this will be as good as Enchanted (or any other good Disney film, for that matter ).

Are we just all being too hard on this trailer? Back then I bet a lot of us didn't watch many trailers, but only the movie itself. Since Disney is claiming this movie as "back to the classics" we are comparing it with our favorite old Disney movies. I don't think we should be looking back into the past, our expectations would be too high for The Princess and the Frog. We should all just see the movie for what it is and give our opinion if this can stand by itself as a timeless classic.
