Disney Not Releasing Classic Toons Anymore? Ducktales, Gummi

Post by jamminjake245 »

Does Disney have any plans to continue their line of classic Disney cartoons anymore?
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

I don't know, but times are changing if the Disney afternoon shows from the 80's/90's qualify as "classic" disney cartoons. I certainly wouldn't use that term and I'm of the generation that watched those shows originally.

I agree - I want the rest of the Gummi Bears, darn it!

The world needs more Gummi! Lots of it!

(That and Ducktales . . . maybe if they released some of the other Disney series, like Aladdin, TLM (The Little Mermaid), and heck, 101 Dalmatians and Jungle Cubs (I swear, I'm probably the only fan of this show), we big fans would give them our money . . .

Have you ever thought of that, Disney?

Hopefully an October wave will happen, though I'm not holding my breath.

A note to Disney: I want to give you my money for shows like Darkwing Duck and Ducktales, but if you won't release them I will go to bootleggers rather than not own them, and then you lose out on my $29.99...

I think we can blame poor sales on this.

No bonus features, video quality which could be better, torrents...it's no wonder these don't sell (well, I buy them).

It really makes me angry with things like this. I was so excited to see some of them released, so naturally I buy them, because, not only do I love them, but I hope that more releases will be coming. Now, a couple years later, they are going to leave me hanging with unfinished DVD sets?! That is one of the things I hate the most! Seeing incomplete sets on my shelf. Release them. Release more. Release them NOW. That is all. :)
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!

So in October we usually get Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers, and in August we get Darkwing and something.

I have really been looking forward to Darkwing and Rescue Rangers in the fall, but have been worried cause we haven't heard anything yet.

I e-mailed Disney a couple of days ago about any news for these releases and got the following response:
"Thank you for your e-mail, we appreciate your interest in DARKWING DUCK, DUCKTALES and RESCUE RANGERS.

At this time, we do not have any release information for additional volumes. We will forward your request for release to our Marketing Department for consideration."

So yup, looks like they might not be finishing these...but then again you never know, and it can't hurt if more people start asking about these too.

^ We don't discuss bootlegs here, but eBay will be your best bet.
