Not the whole movies, but I watched clips of Mamma Mia! and the Prologue to The Dark Knight. I can't wait to see both of them since MM has such great music and Meryl and since I was impressed with Batman Begins I'm sure that TDK will be just as good, if not better.

The Dark Knight

When my buddy called me up and told me he had won two advance screening tickets and that we were leaving in 20 minutes to go to Ottawa to see it I nearly died. I have been anticipating this movie pretty much since the credits began to roll when I saw Batman Begins. I wasn't let down.

I don't want to say much because I know I'll end up spoiling something, but The Dark Knight isn't a superhero movie. It's a masterpiece crime drama that just happens to feature a guy who dresses like a bat. It was so amazing. I can't stop thinking about it.

5/5 Stars and an Oscar for Heath Ledger.

Yeah, but I have to wait a bit longer because dispute some of my friends going at midnight I'm taking some of those same friends to the US for an IMAX screening at 4 PM and I want that towering greatness to be my lasting memory of the film. :)

Hercules
Very good 90s Disney. Not as good as the Fab Four, but definitely very entertaining and if features one of my favorite Disney songs (the one that Megara sings in the garden.)

I hate you all since I can't see it til Saturday.

Hellboy II - An awesome supernatural superhero flick. The first Hellboy is one of my favorite underrated superhero movies and director Guillermo Del Toro's previous work, Pan's Labyrinth, is destined to be a cinematic classic, so I knew this wouldn't dissapoint and it sure didn't. I give it an A-.

Agreed. I knew it wasn't gonna be comedy of the year or anything, but since I'm just a comic book fan, I just wanted to see how they were spoofed.

I knew it was a spoof flick but of the post 'Naked Gun' spoofs I only like 'Scary Movie 1-4', & 'Not Another Teen Movie'. I saw 'Epic Movie' and was just appalled that quality people like Kevin McDonald, Jennifer Coolidge, and Mr. Buy 'N Large himself, Fred Willard were attached to such an awful 'film'.

By the way I've watched many episodes of 'Batman: The Animated Series' and 'Batman Beyond' as well as the movies...
-Batman Begins (Fantastic film no questions asked.)
-Batman: Gotham Knight (Fun in points, disappointing in others. Also I know it's anime but the mouths barely open. They just kinda flap and that erks me.)
-Batman (Ok, but not enough Batman, Vale in the Batcave, the Joker has a name, and the Joker is more Nicholson than Joker)
-Batman Returns (Well....Pfeiffer was great but this one has a lot of problems too, like everything The Penguin is made to be, and the sexualizing of the script.)

Bathing Beauty

Post by carolinakid »

Last night we watched Bathing Beauty (1944) with Red Skelton & Esther Williams. Not a big fan of Red's but Esther's big aquacade finale was FABULOUS! We also liked all the Latin American music. The disc also included Esther's interview with Robert Osborne on TCM which was a treat! She has such a dry sense of humor and is still so beautiful (well, at least she was in the mid '90s when the interview took place!)

I watched Picture This on ABC Family last night. It wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be. I was not really happy with the ending. It was diverting, and I like Ashley Tisdale...it gets a B from me.

Picture This- It was all good until the ending. It felt rushed and what was up with the witches at the end?!? :?

The Phantom of the Opera- Amazing, as usual. :)

My complaint about the ending is: [possible spoilers!]

Obviously, we don't see the lives of the characters 24/7, but in the previous scene, Ashley's character was mad at the boy, and then she's okay kissing him? I wanted him to apologize to her in front of everyone and let her know that he had no bad intensions. Just the fact that she seems to have forgiven him so easily makes me upset.

And, it's funny- I was watching the second half of Bring It On: In It To Win It beforehand, because it was on before Picture This, and that had zombie cheerleaders, so it was ironic to me that both movies that that element in them.

They also both had a Tisdale in them. :p

Yeah, I didn't even finish watching that movie after the zombies appeared...

Could have sworn I posted this in here, but oh well.

I saw The Ruins (Unrated). First impression was that it was so very similar to Cabin Fever, the "villain" was odd and there was more attention to gore than anything. It was nothing like I thought it would be overall it was horrible.

Mamma Mia!

Absolutely and totally freakin' awesome!!!
They put like the lamest musical, one of the most amazing casts and some great songs (that are sung as if it were crazy groupies singing them) in one pot and cooked a hilarious, amazing, crzy funf ride of a movie!!
Definitely THE summer feel-good movie!
(And eye-candy (lots), and I don't mean the groom)
