It's a wonderful short. It's my second favorite Pixar short behind "For the Birds" and that's as much as I can say (I saw a sneak preview).

Two weeks ago when Wonderful World of Disney played Monster's Inc., they actually played about 30 seconds of it. They basically set up the premise for you without showing the real meat and potatoes of the short.

I thought the short was pretty good, I'd probably rank it about 4th or 5th. My favorites are "Knick Knack", "One Man Band", "Luxo Jr.", and "For the Birds".

I got to say this short was terrific. 2nd best Pixar short, barely ahead of Geri's Game and barely behind For the Birds.

It was far more well-made than the film that proceeded it.

The short was funny, but it was not as clever as previous Pixar shorts. Sorry to say but I don't feel Pixar is going to win Best Animated Short for Presto.

If you like over-the-top slapstick, then you'll probably like the short. Seeing characters, whether live-action or cartoon, get physically abused in ways that would kill them in real life, has lost its appeal for me.

You are too hard to please. I found the short "Presto" one of the funniest, if not the best of the Pixar shorts. It reminded of the Roger Rabbit cartoons that Stephen Spielberg had in the front of some Disney projects.

The story line, the editing, and the jokes were top of the line, and just the right amount of slapstick to bring entertainment back to the short-before-the-feature-film project that Pixar really wants to do in the future.

Can't wait to see next year's Pixar/Disney film "Up".......it looks to be another notch in the winner's block for Pixar.

Just saw "Wall-E" for the fifth time. And it gets better with each viewing.

I gotta say this short got more laughs than any of the other ones I've seen in the theaters. (Maybe it was because I saw this one on opening weekend when the others I waited about a week or two.) Even so, this is still a quality short and I really enjoyed it.
I love how the opening titles for the short payed homage to the classic Disney shorts. A nice touch.
Though, now that I think about it, I think they should have saved that for a later short. Save it for when (IF) they do a short that actually has Disney characters.

I know that the shorts before previous films were work that PIXAR have done in the past. How about this one? Does anyone know when this short was produced?

The only short left is Red's Dream, about a bicycle who wants to be a clown. It would've been perfect to show before Wall-E, I think.

The worst Pixar short yet. This one pandered too much to the slap-stick Dreamworks crowd.

Too be fair, Dreamworks certainly didn't invent the slap-stick in animation.

That goes way back what some people refer to as the "glory days" of animation going back to Looney Tunes and Chuck Jones.

their not going to use a short they have already made publicly available both on their website and on dvd/blu-ray. when they released older shorts in the past they were largely still unknown. usually only shown to small audiences.

I think they do have more in their library of shorts though. you know that tv in Toy Story 2? it was stated that every one of those images that you only see for mere milliseconds were from past Pixar shorts. I think they could dip into some of those if they wanted. but I'm guessing they just aren't proud enough of them anymore. their probably only student level quality in their eyes.

I guess it's all a matter of opinion. The Pixar website states the short is an ode to old Warner Bros. and Tom and Jerry cartoons.

Still, it seems making the short an ode is an easy way out excuse to not making it their own. Although the shorts did have some surprising moments I admit!

easy way out? hardly. its hard to put 3d characters in such strong poses that read that well. its not like they remade a specific short. and they have steped into animation style long thought to be dead. people who stamp Dreamworks rip off on this seem to have little undertanding of where animation roots came from. this goes back to where every frame was entertaining.

Umm, what? I didn't link to any threads recently have I? and even if I did, how is a full url wasting bandwidth? URLs aren't that many characters at all. any bandwidth you'd save would be negligible.
