Super Mario Brothers

Amazingly my cousins still have the game from way back when...and it works! Unfortunately they let the girl from church borrow it and she never returns ANYTHING. :(

Well today I got Far Cry Predator and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for the Xbox 360.

It's fair to say Far Cry Predator is a disappointment, but its not fair to say the graphics could have been done on a normal Xbox, the draw distance is incredible, and there's definitely more detail.

However, the AI seems just the same, which results in situations where you can be standing a few feet away from some enemies and they don't notice you at all, while others hunt you down like a dog from over 100m away. Still, it's Far Cry, so worth playing. Plus, once I complete the game, there's the complete new "Evolution" to play.

As for Oblivion WOW! The tutorial is a bit boring. Yawn I thought, more underground tunnels. Boring! More sewers. Been there. And then you get outside, and the whole world just opens up in front of you! It's not actually as "lush" as Far Cry's, but it seems more real. It's huge, absolutely massive, and full of tiny details. After completing entering the world, I've fought off some bandit thieves and explored some ruins, taking care to harvest the local plant-life, before settling down on a fallen column and watching the stars come out.

Oblivion is rather complex, but it's the first game for the 360 I have which really feels "Next Gen" in scope, rather than just a lick of spit and polish to the graphics.

"Kingdom Hearts II" is easily the best video game I have played in a very long time.

My only gripe is this whole 'Roxas' storyline. When I have been waiting forever to get the sequel to my favorite game, I don't need a whole new story to begin.

Well, my Elder Scrolls: Oblivion disc had a scratch on it, so I need to send it back. :(

Who knows. I could have scratched it, or it could always have been on there. That's the problem with games these days, they're so big, if there is something wrong, you're unlikely find out immediately.

That game was taking over my life. And it will again... soon.

In the meantime I've been playing Tomb Raider Legend. Like most other 360 games, its just a current generation title with extra graphical sheen. But it's enjoyable enough, has excellent lighting effects, and for once I don't mind that it's easier than the first couple of games in the series. After those two, the series really went downhill, only to hit rock bottom with "Angel of Darkness". The difficulty seems to be just right now to be playable and fun which is what all games should be, after all. I found the first two games excellent, but way to hard.

It has a good feel of the older games, but sadly, still has many of the old system's faults. Combat, especially against animals is as awkward as it ever was.

I love the detail - play the flashback at the start of the Peru level, and you're back in the Tomb Raider I costume - cyan leotard and brown shorts. Excellent.

I want to play more Oblivion! :(

I just beat Kingdom Hearts II about a week ago and a couple days ago I bought The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age which is also a REALLY great game!
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

I'm a big fan of sim games for my computer, and I've been playing the Tropico games a lot recently. They are both a LOT of fun.

In the original game, you are the leader of a small Caribbean island nation, and as such you are responsible for the well-being and prosperity of your inhabitants. This is a GREAT game if you are bored with the Sim City series, since instead of worrying about things like traffic, urban blight, and sea monsters, you have to be able to deal with different factions (military, communist, capitalist, religious, ecologist, etc.) and how your actions go over with them. You don't zone land, but instead build everything that your people will need, from housing, farms, and mines all the way to movie theaters, churches, restaurants, and even radio stations and immigration offices. You can earn money by exporting goods, like produce, fish, cigars, iron ore, coffee, or even rum, or you can build hotels and attractions to lure rich touristas and their money to your island. It's really unique in that the game is open-ended as to what sort of a leader you want to be. If you want to run a communist nation, go for it. Militaristic dictatorship? Rule with an iron fist. Zealous theocracy? Have at it. Pacifist eco-paradise? Groovy.

Tropico 2: Pirate's Cove isn't quite so complex, but it's still a great game. In it, you are a pirate captain in charge of a buccaneer's hideout (sort of like Tortuga in Pirates of the Caribbean). Under your charge are pirates who can go out on raids and glean "donations" from the French, British, ans Spanish fleets; and captives who do the dirty work on the island, such as growing food and serving up grog. You can hire famous pirates from real life and literature (Captain Hook and John Silver are two choices!), and build different kinds of ships for them to command on raids. And, you can even build a secret cave to stash away gold in for "retirement". I do hope that they release an expansion pack for this one, and add Jack Sparrow as one of the captains for hire 8)
Oh, I'm sorry, you're all standing...here, let me make you a chair!

Here are three computer games that I recently discovered that are so much fun:

Diner Dash:
http://get.games.yahoo.com/proddesc;_yl ... =dinerdash

Hot Dog Bush:
http://games.yahoo.com/free-games/hot-dog-bush

Penguin Diner:
http://games.yahoo.com/free-games/penguin-diner

They all have very similar premises...and I love them. I don't know if that means that I should work in the restaurant industry or what. But they're so addictive.

And, as I was finding the Diner Dash link to post here, I found a link for...wait for it...

DINER DASH 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so have to play that! I didn't know that it exsisted!

:pink: :pink: :pink:

*edit* Diner Dash 2 isn't compatible with the Vista OS, so I can't play it on this computer...I'll have to try it on Bobby's computer...I hope it works!

Man, it's been so long since I've devoted any time to a video game, other than Smash Bros. Brawl.

I definitely need to get back in touch with my gamer roots and delve into some sort of game of epic proportions, but alas, there hasn't really been a unique game to really capture my attention.

Any suggestions?

RISE FROM THE GRAVE! :D

Blackcauldron, there is also a Wedding Dash game... I somehow get the feeling that they will probably make about 20 more in this series, before the year is out.

=====

Currently, I have been replaying Lego Star Wars 1 & 2, my friend had picked up Lego Indiana Jones, and we played a couple of levels together. That made me crave more Lego action, so I had to throw the Star Wars games in again.

I recently beat Psychonauts, God of War, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, and Sly 2: Band of Thieves.

I have also been playing Jak II, and I put 30+ hours on Persona 3, but then I bought the upgraded version - Persona 3: FES.

On the DS, I played through Touch Detective 1, and started TD 2 1/2. Also, I started Trace Memory. In addition, I have been playing Mr. Digger: Drill Spirits (I think that's the name...)

So, I downloaded Wedding Dash (the "free trial" version), and my computer screen went black while I was playing it. Diner Dash doesn't do that...it's because it's a free trial. I don't know if that will ever happen in Diner Dash...maybe I stink at it and haven't gotten to the level that you need to get at for it to go black, I don't know. But, I really enjoyed it while it lasted! Thanks so much for letting me know about it, littlefuzzy! :) I'm going to try to download Wedding Dash 2, but I bet that it'll say that it's not supported on Vista...we'll see. *edit* It seems to be downloading correctly! YAY!

*edit* That's right- Diner Dash is ad-supported, so that's why I can play unlimited for free. I wish that the rest of the games were like that...

On my import PS2:
Tales of Destiny Director's Cut -- because playing games in languages I don't understand is always fun.

On my domestic PS2:
Chaos Wars -- how this game ever managed to escape the confines of Japan will forever remain a mystery.

On my DS:
Tales of Innocence/Tales of Phantasia -- alternating between the GBA slot (Phantasia) and the DS slot (Innocence), because my sister is hogging my copy of Final Fantasy Tactics A2 right now.

On my PSP:
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness -- trying to get a 100% item collection is a major drain on my time...

Let's see...

Mostly I'm between Rock Band and NBA 2K8 with a little Guitar Hero thrown in for color. I rented Lego Indy last week...I love those Lego games. I'm just waiting to score a good deal on that and LSW: Complete Saga. AND I'm especially waiting to get Guitar HeAerosmith tomorrow (Thursday) so I can play that and brag to Aaron that I've played it and he hasn't :D

Oh, and I bought Mario Kart DS when Amazon had it on sale last week, and I got it today so I'm rotating between that and Crosswords DS.

That would be nice. The Wii needs some more "must have" titles in my opinion.

I haven't gamed much at all since Mario Kart Wii. Hopefully I'll get a PS3 sometime this year, as it seems like most of the titles I want now are on that system (or on both the PS3/360).

Other than that I'm looking forward to The Force Unleashed on the Wii, and Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV on the DS.

I hope we get some really good news on the Wii at E3. Hard drive? *crosses fingers* Doubt that will happen. And maybe some really good new exclusives.
