Weren't there some criticisms that one short seemed like a light amount of material to base an entire treasures set on?

Maybe (hopefully) they are simply postponing the release to make it meatier, maybe by adding all the other recent musical-based shorts (that would have been part of Fantasia 2006) to it, in addition to other content.

I enjoyed Destino and would love to see it released. If this is simply being postponed to make the release better, I'm all for it. If this means it won't be released at all, though, that would be a bummer.
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag"- Mary Poppins
"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so bummed. I've waited so many years to see all of "Destino"!!! They can't just have 2 titles in a wave of Treasures...they wouldn't do that, right?!?!?

I agree with disneyboy20022- I wouldn't complain at all if SOTS were to be released instead of "Destino" (even though I can't see that happening in this case), but Disney has to release "Destino" at some point...

David S., that's an interesting thought, about including the other musical shorts on there. Why don't they just make a DVD with all the shorts that were supposed to be in "Fantasia 2006", maybe with a bonus feature or something...I'd buy it! If the interstitials were never filmed (which I don't think they were), then that's okay, because it could just be a shorts collection, like the "Pixar Shorts Collection".

Thanks for posting that, zuzu! As long as "Destino" comes out on DVD, whether or not it's part of a Treasures set, I'm happy. They just better release it!

Do you think that there will be a surprise 3rd Treasures set in this wave, then?

Isn't it possible that Destino might be included w/the PE of Fantasia/Fantasia 2000? I would think they would throw every segment that wasn't completed or ready but not included onto the PE of these movies. Just a thought.
I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

But both "Fantasia" movies aren't geting the PE treatment, just "Fantasia", right? They'll probably rerelease F2000...I mean, they could release them together...

I'd much rather have either a "Destino"-only disc or a set with all the shorts made for "Fantasia 2006"...

I'll probably buy the PE of "Fantasia", since I don't have the Legacy DVD, so if there is a bonus feature on "Destino", it wouldn't be the end of the world, I guess...

This has just occurred to me after reading the news on the Treasures and the comment by Leonard Maltin on the other forem. Does anyone think that Disney might release a DVD similar to the Pixar shorts one, only including some of the Disney label stuff from the past ten to fifteen years. As well as Destino, the likes of John Henry, Lorenzo and How to Hook Up Your Home Theatre would also be included, with a bit of bonus footage thrown in for good measure. Can anyone envision such a release happening at all? Or am I just a dreamer? :P

you picked the one's I'd most like to see but don't forget:

"Runaway Brain" (Mickey Mouse 1995)
"Stand By Me" (Timon & Pumbaa 1995) music licensing issue???
"Greivance of A Starmaker" (2002)
"One By One" (2004)
"The Cat That Looked At A King" (2004)
"A Dairy Tale: Three Little Pigs" (Home On The Range characters 2004)
"The Little Match Girl" (2005)
"Glago's Guest" (2008)

some of these have already been released as extras on other DVDs but it'd be nice to have them on their own DVD...

I think the dvd will still include the documentary, at the Laguna Film Festival they showed "Disney Rarites" which inculded Destino, all the unused Fantasia segments and some other cartoons that had very rearely be shown before. (One of the best was Little Red Riding Hood with the voice of Kramer) Roy Disney was one of the commentators and before showing the short siad he had recently seed the documentary and was impressed. My guess is that they didnt have enough features for 2 discs or didnt think they would sell enough at that price. What would have been cool if they created a 2 disc special edition that included a book with artwork by Dali or even artwork on cards. I really liked Destino, probably one of my favorite shorts< I especially liked how they were able to use the original used soundtrack> A funny story was that in one scene it shows bicyclists with croissants on their head but it wasnt until they showed John Hech that they found out it was supposed to be something else.

yes I knew this..."Greivances..." is on one of the It's A Small World Disney DVDs (representing Japan I think), "The Cat..." is on the Mary Poppins Special Edition, "One By One" is on the Lion King II: Simba's Pride DVD, "A Dairy tale" is on the Home on the Range DVD, "Match Girl" is on the Little Mermaid DVD....

but don't you think Mickey Mouse would help sell some copies of the "modern" Disney cartoons to the "soccer mom shoppers" that don't buy the Treasures sets? you gotta think they'd know Mickey, Goofy and Timon & Pumbaa, right? most assuredly they wouldn't know anything about a DVD with Destino, Lorenzo and John Henry...

If the Pixar disc moved enough, which I assume it did given how many copies I saw I would not be the least surpised. I would also be 100% supportive of discs of the modern shorts.

Agreed, I'd pay for a modern shorts collection, altho I can't really see it as part of the treasures line.

Regardless - I just want to own Lorenzo.
