Things you used to hate, but now love (or vice versa)

Post by Ting Ting »

I've come to realize that there are a lot of things and/or people I used to not like, but have recently fallen in love with.

I've openly criticized Britney Spears in the past, but I've come to love her and her music lately. It's funny, because I used to be OBSESSED with her when I was little, and then stopped liking her once she got a little more out there. But now I'm back to being a Britney fan...and I have no idea why! :P

This one isn't exactly recent, but the same goes for the movie Rent. I was forced to see it with a group of friends when it was first released, and I absolutely hated it! More than hated...LOATHED! I later decided to give it a second chance...and still hated it. But hey, third time's a charm, right? After my THIRD viewing of the film, I fell in love. And again, I have no idea why.

I also used to be a huge High School Musical hater, but that changed after the release of the second film. I can understand why people don't like it; It's got a cast filled with nothing but mediocre actors/singers, the writing is beyond cheesy, and it really is poorly produced. But despite it's flaws, I've come to realize that it's just a goofy film that makes people happy. I've grown to love both films and their soundtracks, and can't wait for the release of the third film in October.

Ashlee Simpson, but this one goes in the opposite direction. I still love the OLD Ashlee, and I still love all of her music. But she, as a person, has changed a lot lately. She seems totally phony in recent interviews, has basically turned her back on her fans, and keeps going on breaks! And of course she decides to take this stupid, little break right after she releases some of the best work she's ever done. I understand that she's preggo, and I sympathize...I really do. Why? Because her child's father is a trainwreck. But that still doesn't give her an excuse to turn her back on her fans. That's totally lame. But if the old Ash ever makes a comeback, I'll be here. Here's to hoping!

I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

Post some of yours!

I used to hate slipcovers now I loathe them, does that count? :P

Anyways.....

I used to dislike Star Trek a lot, but then I started watching some of TNG episodes and realized it wasn't that bad of course I still find myself scratching my head because I'm a "noob" at the whole series.

I'm sure there's more but that's really all that comes to mind I think :)

Well, one thing I used to hate that comes to mind is "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" film. Words cannot describe how much I hated it when I first saw it - it was probably because I had finished re-reading the book just hours before I went to see it.

Then I got it on the DVD and it started to grew on me :) - it's not my favorite HP film, but it's good.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire, basically, I thought it was stupid before I saw it, but I'm not sure that counts...

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.. yes I didn't like it, but I enjoy it now...

Grounded for Life... I thought it was too dirty... but I like it now...

Now for food!

Bolonga- I could eat it until someone told me it was made of batwings... I know it's not true but, ewww!!!

Grounded Hamburger Meat- When I was in kindergarden, they had a little seminar about beef. Stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid!!!!!!! I was at the age when I didn't totally understand everything, and there was some mention about cow's brains... and well, now I can't eat grounded hamburger meat without associating it with brains.

Corn- I used to like corn, and I still like corn on the cob, but my family has used microwaveable corn for so long, I just don't like corn anymore.

Mayo and Swiss- One day I tried to created something from scratch. So, I toasted some bread, spread mayo on it, and then put a slice of swiss cheese on it while watching Superman. Well, that night I got the stomach flu, and I was throughing up like clock work. It was terrible. So now I can't think of mayo, swiss cheese, toasted bread, and Superman without getting sick.

I used to not care much for Winnie the Pooh or The Country Bear Jamboree, but both are now growing on me (the former at a faster rate than the latter).

Well, as far as food goes, I once hated celery and hotdogs, but I can't get enough of them now (for the latter, it was probably because my parents buy turkey instead of pork now). In the opposite direction, I used to love Kraft macaroni and slaw, but I can't stand them now (for the former, it's because I tried homemade macaroni and I just can't go back).

For movies, I used to despise Star Wars, but I've actually grown a certain fondness for it lately. And, out of the Disney films, I hated Cinderella as a child but it's in my top ten these days.

I used to hate older Disney live-action films. That's certainly changed.

I used to love honey on toast but now I can't stand it.

At first, nothing came to mind because my tastes are remarkably consistent - what I love/like, I've pretty much always felt that way about, and vice/versa.

However, I have since thought of one thing.

I used to enjoy eating meat. But inspired by a combination of the movie Babe, the song "Meat Is Murder" by the Smiths, and my love and respect for animals in general, I began to hate the idea, became a vegetarian, and stopped.

Not only do I feel better about myself, but I also feel healthier with a noticable increase in energy as a result. And I don't miss it!

I am in no way judging others who eat meat, just saying that for me personally, I now hate the idea of me doing it!
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag"- Mary Poppins
"How high does the sycamore grow? If you cut it down, then you'll never know"- Pocahontas
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence." - Walt Disney

David S.: You know what? Because I looked for the lyrics of "Meat is Murder" I finally decided to stop eating meat completely.
I've been thinking about it for a really long time now and since my girlfriend is a vegetarian I don't eat meat that often anyway but in the last months (specifically in the last days) I thought very much about finally becoming a vegetarian.
I love all animals so much and I don't want to be responsible for their suffering...
I worked for a company that organizes cattle breeding for 6 months and the things I learned there made me really sad.
I never thought much about that stuff before but now I'm happy I know more about it than before.

Sorry for the OT-Talk. :D

Topic: I used to love Coke and other drinks that are full of sugar but now I can't drink them anymore because they're way to sweet.

I used to hate the Lord of the Rings (the movies) but now I think they're okay.
I don't love them, but I don't hate them anymore. ;)

I'd say hate is to strong a word, I never liked CSI miami, but I love it now, I have them on dvd.
(I don't like CSI NY and I don't think that will ever change.)

I used to love the hunch back of notre dame, now not so much.

I also used to dislike coffee a lot (when i was younger) but now i love coffee, and i like it black and strong. I think my aversion to it was due to my very young age, but now I can't get enough of it.

I also used to love really sweet sodas and now I hate them. I can't drink really sweet soda. And I used to love the band Evanescence and now I can't stand them...but that's due to their music changing and me not liking their new crap.

I used to hate Jewish people mainly because I didn't meet any of them and some ignorant people weren't helping.
But I've meet a few Jewish people and they were really nice to me, and I've read books like the Diary of Anne Frank and now I think they're just as human as I am so I really like them now.
