I know I didn't nominate any books (considering most of the books I have, I've already read), but I would really enjoy joining. Out of those three, I'd choose A Great and Terrible Beauty.

But I promise everyone that those books were written on the three papers I chose. If you don't believe me, then that's your problem. I am completely honest when I tell you those were the ones that I picked.
I know, I'm just joshin'. :P

I vote for Twilight as well. It's a book I've been meaning to pick up, but at the same time I don't want to because the film's coming out this December and I don't want to taint my film experience by reading the book first. It's weird, I'll either dread the film version of a book because I can't imagine them doing the film the way I envision it, or I'll dread the original book of a film because then I'll get upset with the film if it cut out some really good stuff from the film.

:(

I've already read all three nominees...

Ah well, I vote for Angels and Demons because it's the only one I can see myself willingly reading again.

I'm gonna vote for "A great and terrible beauty", but I don't know yet if I can find it somewhere here.

So far it's:

3 votes for Twilight
2 votes for Angels and Demons
2 votes for A Great and Terrible Beauty

There's about an hour and a half left to vote.

Remember, we can nominate the same books next month, so if a book you wanted to read didn't get nominated, it still has a chance next month!

:)

How much time do you think you need to get the book and such? I'm going on vacation in 18 days, and I would like to start before then so I can read there.

I own all three so getting a copy is a non-issue for me. :D

This is probably off-topic, but Angels and Demons does come before The Da Vinci Code, correct?

Sorry for the double post, but the deadline is now, and with three votes, the UD Book of the Month for June/July is.........

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

I was thinking we could start the book within the next couple of weeks, if that's okay with everyone. School(for me) lets out tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time to read for the next couple of months.

So, is...ten days good for everyone?

Correct, though the stories are only marginally connected with one another.

I just looked on a local bookstore website and it looks like they have it in stock! So I'll pick it up tomorrow and start reading it right after I finish the book I'm reading! :)

I just ordered it from the library, so hopefully I'll have it before we need to start reading it!

That's great!

Twilight has 498 pages, so we can round that off to 500 pages.

So that means we'll probably read around 125 pages a week, for four weeks. It may seem like a lot, but I heard that you can easily read this in one sitting, so four weeks should be nothing.

I didn't exactly nominate or vote, but I wouldn't mind joining in on this if it's not too late. If so, then I can just wait until the next round of nominations. :)

Has anyone gotten the book yet? I'm supposed to be in charge of getting everyone started on this book...I haven't gotten mine from the library yet- I don't know how long it will take to receive it.

Maybe when people get the book, they can post in here and let us know, so we all can have an idea of when to start reading!

I don't have it yet!

I've looked up in libraries here and they don't have any copies that I could take home until July 8th. That's a bit far! If I can find it for under $10 somewhere, I'll buy it but if I can't I won't be able to get it before that date! :(

Anyway, I'll just read faster and try to catch up if you guys have already started by then! ;)

This is actually a really cool idea. I wish I had more time to keep up with all the reading....goodness knows I'll try;) Once I start my rotations this fall I should have some more time.....

I know I"m late for the June book, but I have a few suggestions for nomination for July (I'm sure you can tell my Disney heritage and special love for late 70s and early 80s Disney):

Any of the Chronicles of Prydain books - Lloyd Alexander (Yes I've still not read them)

Summer Switch - Mary Rodgers (a sequel to Freaky Friday)

Dragonslayer - Wayland Drew

The Hogfather - Terry Pratchett (A friend of mine has been trying to get me to read this one big time)

Non-fiction:
A Song of Wild Laughter - Jack Couffer (an autobiography of one of the nature photographers from Disney's True Life Adventure series)
"It's Kind Of Fun To Do The Impossible"
- Walt Disney
