CEX in Hudderfield. Wrong disc for Tarzan

Post by Enchantress »

Hey, not been on here for ages, but I thought I'd share an experience I had yesterday. I went to Huddersfield on a day out and whilst I was there I saw the collectors edition of Tarzan (the sketchy cover). I've been keeping an eye of for this for quite a while so I was happy when I found it for only 8 pounds.

When I took it to the desk, the girl behind the counter gave me the discs, which said 'special edition' and I knew for a fact that they were the discs for the more recent release, as I already had it at home.

When I explained they were the wrong disc, she replied with 'no, they're right, it says so on the sticker.' Which only means they're the discs they came with, not that they were right, something happened before they were traded in.

Anyway, I asked her to check the discs again behind the counter, and she said it was absoutely the right discs, which, I promised her they weren't. She had a big huff and tantrum and gave me a refund.

Basically, I just posted this in case there are some people out there who have only just started looking for Disney (or any) DVDs which may be hard to find, and can only get them from used DVD stores, or ebay. I just wanted to urge people to check before they leave the store.

Cheers!
Rach

I should just take this moment to point out that us UK people are better off with the more recent SE.

It has more bonus features. Loads of stuff was left off the first UK CE that was present on the US one.

This happened to me in Woolworths the other day. The had the BOGOF offer on many Disney DVd's including A Bug's life 2 disc collectors edition. So off i go to the till to pay, where they disappear into the stock room to fetch DVD's and the lady comes back the the plain ol' one disc edition. I quizzed, excuse buy that is only one disc I gave you a two disc one. She said that they don't stock that item even tho on their shelves they have both the two disc and the one disc editions up for sale. They still have them there to this very day ( despite me saying they should take off the copies that they aren't stocking) Foolishness.

I'm really starting to get worried about the standard of service being offered in shops these days. Lack of training, more specifically.

My brother got a copy of "Little Britain" Series 1 for Christmas, but upon watching the second disc it soon became apparent it was starting to suffer the dreaded layer rot.

Took it back to the shop, and they were only too glad to exchange it, but had a hefty argument with the store assistant who said he'd never heard of "layer rot" and claimed it probably doesn't exist! It still does, just not in the big way it did in DVD's earlier days.
I'm just valentine candy and boxing-gloves!
