5th Annual UD/DVDizzy Forum Awards - Ceremony

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Welcome one and all to the 5th Annual Ultimate Disney Forum Awards! Tonight, we celebrate the many changes we've all seen over the last year and the fun we've all shared. Ultimate Disney has become the ultimate source for everything in 2008, with our cozy community being your one-stop shop for discussion ranging from slipcovers to song covers and all the untold randomness that falls between and beyond. These ceremonies have typically ended in bloodshed (be sure to visit our new memorial for the fallen on your way out) with our fearless correspondent, <strike>ichabod</strike> Joan Rivers keeping us abreast of the chaos. With a little luck, she'll be back this year, though her battle wounds have rendered her hopeless even to plastic surgery. I'm back too, honored again to serve as your host. So as you filter into the hallowed Off-Topic Hall, take a seat and get ready to applaud some of the very best of Ultimate Disney and DVDizzy.com.

And now, without further ado, let the ceremony begin!

Ladies and gentlemen, LIVE from Off-Topic Hall in the World Wide Web, it's the 5th Annual Ultimate Disney Forum Awards! Featuring appearances by...

And now with the award for Forum of the Year, here is blackcauldron85:

Forum of the Year

Image: Out of the ten UD forums, only 4 were nominated. Out of the 4 nominees, only one can become the UD Forum of the Year. When you make a monetary contribution to the site from now until tomorrow, you will really be purchasing some tissues. Because the other 9 forums wish that they could be the UD Forum of the Year. But they can't. And they're pretty bummed about it. The nominees are...

Disney Discussion
General DVD Discussion
Movies, Music & TV
Off-Topic

The winner is...

Disney Discussion
Image
This is Disney Discussion's 2nd Golden Mickey Award.
It previously won the award for Forum of the Year in 2004 (as "General Discussion").

Congratulations to Disney Discussion! Stay tuned for award for Best Message Board Idea of the Year!

And now, another skit by ESCAPAY!!

Best Message Board Idea of the Year

Image:

Aaron: And now, presenting the award for Best Message Board Idea of the Year, one man with many ideas himself...Doctor...um...Doctor...

(The TARDIS materializes onstage and the Doctor emerges.)

The Doctor: It's just "The Doctor"

Aaron: But...Doctor who?

The Doctor: Exactly.

(He casually pushes Aaron aside.)

Hi there, folks. You're in for a great night, I just came back from the after party, and let me tell you, it was...actually maybe I shouldn't. Don't want to spoil things. Okay, let's see, what did I already present that I'm presenting again right now?

(He looks at the teleprompter.)

Best Message Board Idea of the Year. Best Message Board Idea of the Year, hey! Got to love ideas! You can do a lot with an idea. An idea is...ideal! And the people behind the ideas, well, you guys are quite exceptional, especially the winner. I was chatting up with you at that after party a few minutes ago...well a few minutes ago in a few hours from now. That's the thing with time travel, you throw people for a loop since they always travel linearly. This is all new to you guys, but I already saw a video of myself saying this so I know exactly how it will turn out. That's another problem with time travel, sometimes you don't get any surprises anymore. Still, since I'm here I might as well read the teleprompter.

(the Doctor looks at the teleprompter. It blinks. So does the Doctor.)

Right, your teleprompter is broken. It didn't do that last time.

(he looks around a bit.)

I'd fix it but I left my sonic screwdriver in my other coat. Dear me, this is rather unexpected.

(he shuffles a bit, looks at his shoes. After a bit, he suddenly springs back into action.)

Well...thankfully I already know who the nominees and winners are. Teleprompter's won't stop me! And the nominees are...

Creating/Adding the new forums (Luke)

Banning Lazario & Papi Bear (The UD Moderators)

Secret Santa 2007 (Luke)

(the Doctor then takes out an already opened envelope from his pocket.)

Thankfully, I kept this. Then again, I already know who the winner is so I don't need to read it. The Golden Mickey goes to...

He's back! The name with a thousand pronunciations: ESCAPAY!!

Site Article of the Year

Image:

When the real world meets someone from UltimateDisney.com, it usually screams and runs away in terror. However, there has been occasions where the real world welcomed UltimateDisney.com with open arms. These events include premieres for half-baked insipid television movies, and opportunities and events for fans to learn more about the company they love. In addition, UltimateDisney.com takes a look at the real world...well, the Disney world at least, and offers their assessment. Finally, there are those rare times when UltimateDisney.com takes a page out of Encyclopedia Britannica or Wikipedia and provides multi-part educational articles that gives new, and uncommonly non-DVD, insight into a favorite studio.

The nominees for Site Article of the Year are...

2007: Year in Review (Walt Disney Records) by UltimateDisney.com Staff

High School Musical 2: Extended Edition DVD Premiere Celebration (El Capitan Theatre - Hollywood, California) by Pluto Region1

The History of Pixar - One Story, Two Mediums by Luke & Christian Ziebarth

A Report from the Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Press Junket for 101 Dalmatians and Tinker Bell by Christopher Disher

And the Golden Mickey goes to...

Once again, a skit by ESCAPAY!!

Poll/Game of the Year

Image:

Aaron: And now, presenting the award for Poll/Game of the Year, the winner of Hurt or Heal: Disney Villains...Maleficent!

(Maleficent emerges, once again in her Hot Stuff outfit.)

Image

(the audience give out hoots and catcalls.)

Maleficent: Okay, enough of the hoots and catcalls.

(the audience shuts up.)

Maleficent: Now then, it's late, I'm tired, and I've got early baby-cursing in the morning. The nominees are...

Hurt or Heal #1: Disney Animated Classics by Escapay
Hurt or Heal: Disney Villains (animated) by Simba3
Hurt or Heal: The Magic Kingdom Park by Flanger-Hanger

Amazing how they're so contradictory, isn't it? And what does it say about the people who play these games? Hurting things...healing them...hurting again. Sadists, all of you. To hell with it all, I'm going home.

(Maleficent starts to leave but Aaron stops her and they have one of those quiet heartfelt talks where you can't hear what they're saying. She returns to the stage)

Maleficent: I'm sorry. I haven't had my evening coffee and it's just been one of those days. And the fact that they didn't even bother to interview me for the new Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition DVD...well, I've just been really upset.

(She starts crying.)

Maleficent: I mean, you curse one person and suddenly the world's against you. It's hard out there for a villain.

(She opens the envelope and uses the paper inside to blow her nose. She then looks at the paper.)

Maleficent: Oh...well...um...hehe...

(She looks over at Aaron, who shrugs his shoulders and motions to keep going.)

Maleficent: Right...well. The, um, Golden Mickey goes to... Hurt or Heal! Yes, Hurt or Heal!

(applause from the audience and Maleficent smiles, glad that she was able to get away with it.)

Someone in the Audience: Hey wait, which one?

Someone Else: Yeah!

(audience begins mumbling and asking which one won. Maleficent's smile vanishes.)

Maleficent: Uh...uh...uh...

(Rather than announce a winner, she disappears in her trademark puff of smoke. Aaron comes out onstage.)

Aaron: I guess we'll have to go back and count the votes again, we'll be back in a few minutes.

(He goes off. Fifteen minutes later, he rushes back out.)

Aaron: And the Golden Mickey for Poll/Game of the Year goes to the Hurt or Heal game for...

And now a Special Award, the first of several...

All of you here at UltimateDisney.com bring something special to the forum. Some of you, though, bring an especially notable amount of good cheer and a steady stream of news and conversation that interest us all, even as you deal with more off-computer concerns than most of us. This year, the members of the UD/DVDizzy Forum wish to recognize one such member with an honorary Golden Mickey. In Recognition of Outstanding UD Community Membership Despite Many Medical Concerns at a Young Age, this Golden Mickey goes to...

Congratulations, disneyboy! It's a well-earned award! I don't visit TVShowsonDVD as often as I like, so it's always nice to get weekly reminders/articles here at UD courtesy of you!

And remember what Barney Stinson said...

"Let me tell you about a little thing called mind over body. You see, whenever I start feeling sick, I just stop being sick and be awesome instead."

Also, thanks everyone for the Golden Mickey for Poll/Game of the Year! This win also goes towards another forum I frequent ("Escapay does other things on the internet besides searching for threads at UD?" In a word, yes), SoapBlather2, where I got the idea.

Hmm...maybe I should pay them a visit, I haven't been there in months!

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage one of tonight's nominees, PrincePhillipFan!

Site/Forum Event or Breaking News of the Year

Image: Being a newcomer to Ultimate Disney, I was a bit timid and confused as always whenever I usually enter a new forum community. However, since I came here, I would have to say that this place is the one where I was welcomed so warmly and more quickly than any other. And since I came here, I have taken part in many different and interesting discussions, more here than I have anywhere else. Whether it was about Sleeping Beauty and Alice In Wonderland becoming Platinums, the passing of animation and Hollywood legends, the merging of both websites, or even the fact that many people recently came out of the closet including myself, there has been much breaking news and events happening in the last year. Many nominees were selected, but now only one has been selected to be receive the Golden Mickey for Site/Forum Event or Breaking News of the Year.

The nominees are:

Alice in Wonderland goes Platinum

The Creation of New Forums & Integration of DVDizzy.com into the Forum

End of an Era: The Passing of Ollie Johnston

The Frog Princess, found and renamed

Heath Ledger Found Dead

Mason_Ireton on A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila

Sleeping Beauty Coming to Blu-Ray

Theatrical Release of Enchanted

UD Forum Predominantly Gay -- Authorities Suspect Jake Gyllenhaal May Be Behind Change

...And the winner is...

End of an Era: The Passing of Ollie Johnston

Of course, this award doesn't really "go" to anyone, but it's a nice way to commemorate the importance of this great legend.

We will now break for an intermission. There are refreshments in the lobby, though you go there at your own risk! Join us again tomorrow when we'll unveil the rest of the awards!
