FLCL is short for Furikuri, which is...well, messed up. It makes absolutely no sense, but it is very entertaining at the same time. There's a lot of adult content in it, too.Loomis wrote:You have me curious now.Sekaino Jasmine wrote:Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service are also good, and so is Hime-chan no Ribon and Furikuri(FLCL is messed up, though...reminds me of Loomis).
What is this FLCL you speak of, and how does it remind you of me?

FLCL?????? ....hmmmm....that IS a strange one.........I agree with Sekaino Jasmine, it makes NO sense!
Loomis.......hmm...
Now that you mention it, it actually DOES remind of Loomis!!
Loomis, you should research it....you'll laugh!(That is, if you can even understand what you research! If FLCL itself doesn't make sense, how can a website about it make sense?)
I don't think there is ONE person on this planet who understands that show! It's wacked up!
(Although...LOOMIS might be able to make sense of it....they seem to be connected......)

FLCL is one of the coolest anime series I've had the privilege to experience! Most of it is a metaphor for growing up but it is told in such a wacky, bizarre way that you have to watch it several times to take it all in. I need it on DVD but it's so expensive... at least there are only 3 DVDs for the 6 episodes.

I have loved Disney since 1991. Unfortunately until 1995, my parents forbid me to watch any movie in theatres, so I just sticked to VHS tapes like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. My favourite Disney movie is The Lion King, but I couldn't see it on its 1994 theatrical release, so I could only buy tons of books, and collect stuff about it. Before I got hands to the 1995 VHS tape, I had already knew the whole story entirely and memorized the songs.
I had a short dislike for Disney since 1998 until late 2000, but after that I was even more obsessed than before. After I bought a limited issue of The Little Mermaid DVD in 2001, I decided to start my Disney DVD collection. Unfortunately, I live in Hong Kong and besides some new films and the major Platinum releases we seldom have any 2-Disc DVD sets, so I had to tolerate cheap single-disc DVDs. I hope one day I can move to the USA and enjoy the great 2-disc sets there.
Cheap 1-disc DVD sets I bought:
Fantasia (cut version, with only a Claire de Lune segment as an extra)
Sleeping Beauty (pan-and-scan, with only the dumb kiddie games, a making-of)
Dinosaur (only about 4 short making-of featurettes included)
Atlantis (pan-and-scan, little extras)

I am 29 and married to my gorgeous girlfriend of two years
, who also loves movies. I can remember seeing The Lion King 8 times at the theater, which rekindled my interest in Disney Films, as did the Pixar movies. I now own about 40 Disney Movies but also enjoy many other genres. Having a young daughter also made me think I can collect these things for her to enjoy when she is older. Since having a young child prevents one from going to the theaters very often, We decided to invest in a 55 inch widescreen TV to bring the movie theater home, and I can honestly say we get great use out of it, and it makes us waste our $ on even more movies!
I have watched this forum for a while before joining, and can honestly say I have learned a lot from this eclectic group. Thanks for doing this Luke!

Jules: You know the shows on TV?
Vincent: I don't watch TV.
Jules: Yeah, but, you are aware that there's an invention called television, and on this invention they show shows, right?

Heehee. Yes, you have established yourself as an accomplice to/enemy of Loomis (they're the same thing). Anyone who is in any way associated with His Loomtacularness is automatically crazy

DOn't move too soon! You're getting a Disneyland at Penny's Bay or harbor or...something. Also, you should pick up Song of the South there if you see it. I know Hong Kong released it before, but here in the US, IT"S NEVER SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAYdisneychris04 wrote:Unfortunately, I live in Hong Kong and besides some new films and the major Platinum releases we seldom have any 2-Disc DVD sets, so I had to tolerate cheap single-disc DVDs. Well I never properly introduced myself. I'm DDMAN26,I choose not to go by my real name, I want to keep my screen name and real name separate. Anyways I've always had a love for Disney films since I was a kid. And I still do. But lately my interest has been more towards the old Walt Disney Presents shows that Walt himself hosted. I simply cannot get enough of that stuff. If I see even a smattering of one of those shows on a disc I'll pick it up for that reason. But I have well over two hundred dvd's at home, but the Disney one's are separated from the others because they're just a little more special. I also make a point to read as many books on Disney, I'm fascinated by the company's history. So that's me in a nutshell.

DDMan, I'm with you. I am forever reading stuff on Walt and the company's history. That's equally as interesting to me as the movies themselves or the themeparks... but they all really tie in with one another. You've got 70 some posts under your belt, but since you just now did this formal introduction, I'll give you your "welcome aboard"

Hello
I'm new to forum! My name is Michael and i have loved disney movies ever since i went to the theather and saw 101 Dalmatians in 1991. That is when i first saw Cruella De Vil. Ever since that moment i have been obssesed with Disney. I started to collect all the movies from the "Classic" collection, i also saw batb and tlk in the theather. As i got older i read into Disney history. I am also a huge collecter of Disney Villain merchendise i have (almost)everything that has to do with Disney Villains. I am now building my DVD collection, and am starting (trying)to get my friends hooked. I have also learned alot from this forum, and now i know that i'm not the only one who loves Disney.
Thanks

Hey, welcome Disney Villain! I love the villains too. Disney's been turning out some movies without villains recently (Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear, Finding Nemo) and I've been in a villain draught . . . luckily Alemina Slim is coming soon!

Anybody crazier than me does have that friend/enemy dynamic. While I would embrace them as a kindred spirit, I do being outdone.
I guess that's why I hate children. I am still a child myself and I fear the competition.
Anyways, this isn't about me is it? Or IS it?

A-men. I get so irked when they put out something that's villain-less. Finding Nemo would have been perfect had they added a few songs and a villain. I'm hoping for some really good villains in the upcoming projects, and Home on the Range looks promising.jambo*rafiki wrote:Hey, welcome Disney Villain! I love the villains too. You are crazier than I thought!
Yes, fear the competition, if I work hard enough, than maybe I can enter in the competition!
And I-uh--didn't see that much conversation about you in this thread
