Well no, Fantasia/2000 will not be getting a Platinum Edition. But Fantasia will be getting a Platinum Edition release in the near future, and Fantasia/2000 will probably be released on some kind of a Special Edition shortly after. However, if you do want the Anthology collection, I would search online through both eBay and Amazon. Like I said, you can usually spot a fake DVD or a bad seller pretty easily.steve wrote:I meant to say Fantasia Anthology, as I wanted Fantasia 2000 as well. I heard it's getting a Platinum treatment, but that seems unlikely, no?
How to Tell if Your Dvd is Fake/Bootleg or Is This Dvd Real?
Touche, if you are a big Fantasia, Fantasia/2000 fan you might want to get a hold of the Anthology set.steve wrote:Yeah, because the Anthology seems to be quite a good set, and with the way Disney DVD releases have been lately, the special edition of Fantasia 2000 may not be that special. A 2-disc Fantasia ought to be alright though...
Well I haven't seen Fantasia since I was small (but I liked it then - I know it bores some kids to tears) and I loved Fantasia 2000, but I'd say I'm just a general Disney fan not a huge Fantasia fan, so I'll look an eBay, but I'm not gonna break the bank right away...
Oh, and thanks for your advice, Simba3!

Just Got Lady & The Tramp. Is It A Bootleg?
I know that the subject of bootleg Disney movies has been brought up several times already, but I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out if the Platinum Edition I bought on Ebay of Lady & The Tramp is a bootleg version. Maybe if you could compare it to yours.
The first thing that makes me think it is a bootleg is the case/cover art. While all of my platinum editions have come in black cases, this one is in a dark blue case. Also, the barcode on the back of the case doesn't look so clear (like the effect of dropping a shaddow under text). I should also mention that the bar at the top of the cover where it says Platinum Edition, the bar is gold (not sure if this means anything). And on the right side of the front cover, the buildings are not very visible.
Next are the discs. The artwork on the first disc is sort of lightscribed on the disc (in color) while the artwork on the second disc is printed. I should also note that the text on both discs is silver (it's the surface of the disc). The bottom of both of the discs are silver, not the purple color that a standard burned dvd would have. Both discs are also double layer; disc one takes up about 7gb while the bonus disc is a little bit more than 6gb.
I could just be being paranoid, but I have a feeling that I recieved a bootleg of this movie.

I've had to replace some of mine too, but the DVD I got was supposedley "new". It did have the sticker at the top (holding it shut) that you have to peel off, but it didn't have the white bar with the title of the movie on it. I also compared the cover to my other Disney DVDs a little more. The corners on the cover were curved like my others, but the curves were much bigger.ifoceanscollide wrote:The dark blue case def sounds pretty fishy to me. Although I know I personally have had to replace a few of my cases after they had an unfortunate run-in with my kitty's claws...
I looked more closely at the seller's feedback. While it's basically all positive, I noticed that he has sold LOTS of copies of this title.
I've already contacted him and said I wanted a refund. He said to just send it back and he will give me my money back. I still think I should leave negative feedback, because I think other buyers have the right to know that they're not buying the real thing.

If it's curved like #1, then it's a fake
The curve on the Lady & Tramp dvd should look like #2, but based off what you said above (Blue case, Golden Banner) I belive you have a fake.

I very first dvd I bought off ebay was a fake, and the seller had a 100% feedback. Most people don't know what a fake dvd looks like, so when they get one, they just pass it off as a real one. Low prices and multiple copies of the same title is a sure sign of bootleger. With the feedback, I would leave him a neg., people need to know what their about to deal with. But wait until you recieve your refund.gregmasciola wrote:I looked more closely at the seller's feedback. While it's basically all positive, I noticed that he has sold LOTS of copies of this title. Sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyersblackcauldron85 wrote:If you leave negative feedback for the seller before he or she leaves you feedback, then he or she may leave you negative feedback, too. I definitely agree that you should tell other potential buyers that this seller sells bootlegs, but just beware that he or she may also leave you bad feedback.

Thanks for the link/info- I knew that something like that was going on, but I wasn't sure what. That's such a good policy.jrboy wrote:Sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyersblackcauldron85 wrote:If you leave negative feedback for the seller before he or she leaves you feedback, then he or she may leave you negative feedback, too. If you do leave negative feedback, then, make sure to say if he or she gives you a refund. Because they'll deserve negative feedback for the bootleg, but you shouldn't not mention a refund, because other potential buyers will be interested to know, if they do get a bootleg, or an item that isn't in the same quality as listed, that a refund is possible. Just my $0.02!

You DEFINITELY got a bootleg. I could tell right away. The "Platinum Editon" banner is silver, not gold. And both discs had the same art style, it was that shiny holographic kind. And him having lots of copies of it is a sure giveawy. I'd return it and probably leave neutral feedback: it was a bootleg, but you got a refund. Either way, other buyers should for sure know they are not getting the real product.
These online auctions can be a pain sometimes, they are so many bootleggers. I bought Sleeping Beauty through Ebay and it was NOT a fake, I got lucky!

I put the dvd in my computer and found that there is no copy protection on the disc. I also tried ordering from that website rushmydvds.com, and that was a bootleg too, so I reccomend staying away from there. I'm trying one last time from a different seller. He/She has only sold maybe 2 copies of the movie, and the auction shows a photograph of the DVD (with the slip-case), so I'll keep my fingers crossed.ToyStoryFan wrote:You DEFINITELY got a bootleg. However, I did get lucky with a copy of Bambi that I ordered. That seller also seemed to have sold quite a few copies, but it was actually the real thing, brand spankin' new!

Is this a Snow White bootleg?
Hi. On craigslist, there's a seller who is selling an opened copy of Snow White.. Are there any tell tale signs if this is a legit version or bootleg?

If you see something that sends off warning bells, please let me know..
Thanks
