Gold Collections Being Pulled Off Shelves?
Gold Collections Being Pulled Off Shelves?
So just a recent thing i have noticed. At my local Walmart Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Rescuers and Hercules are all no longer on the shelves. The Rescuers Down Under is though. But The first had been on the 13.99 dvd rack for ages and now they are all gone. Hunchback and Hercules have been gone for I don't even know how long. anyone else notice this?

I don't think the first Rescuers is part of the GC. But I noticed that Hunchback was gone from my Wal-Mart as well. But what's interesting is that I noticed about 20 Fun and Fancy Frees and Goofy Movies, which are in the GC, come in. Which is weird because they've never been at my local WalMart before.
But they do seem to be replacing the GC titles with newer versions, so who knows?

It's just part of Wal-Mart's cycling of catalog titles. Every several months, their 13.72/9.44/7.50/5.00 titles get shuffled and some titles get added, some get removed. In addition, some that are removed return a couple years later. I remember back in...2003 or 2004...when my local Wal-Mart started stocking GC discs again, and they were gone within six months.
At the same time, for some titles that suddenly appear again, it's because they're liquidating their remaining stock in anticipation of a new edition.
(Don't take that to mean all the GC's will be getting a new edition within the next six months, though. Sometimes it's just a case of them realizing "Hey, we still have these Disney titles in our warehouse, let's stock it so people who bought New-Disney-Title-XYZ will think about buying this as well!")

If they were all dissapearing, i'd be reall fine with that lol. Although Hunchback isn't a part of the GC line either.
I'm with Escapay on this one. Wal-mart and Disney are just getting rid of a excess. I've also noticed that sometimes if a certain title is asked about enough or requested for in a area for Wal-mart, the company will send what they have to that location. Sometimes i'm sure that can come in excess. It's happened at my Wal-mart, anyway...

I noticed they recently stocked "Flubber" for 7.50 at Wal-Mart.....but the cover of it is slightly different than I remember....There is no "widescreen" banner across the front (even though it is presented in widescreen), and also the special features do NOT list the trailer....and I sort of remember the trailer being on this disc as a special feature. I know it's only 7.50, but I wanted to hold off unless I knew that this was the disc with the trailer (even though it isn't mentioned....disney has a way of doing that sometimes with reissues). Does anyone know?

It's the same disc, with the trailer. Disney has been doing this with a lot of their back titles.
