Would you buy the Disney Broadway musicals on DVD?

I wonder if Disney has ever considered filming the stage version of The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast and releasing them on DVD. I know I would buy them. Anyone else?

Seriously. I think Jasmine's correct. Of course, comma rules are always iffy, so we could all be right.

Anyway.... I would like to see them on DVD because I'll probably never get to see them in NYC!

Then again, it isn't really that hard a decision.

It's not really a habit, Tangela.

It's the way I was taught in my Language Arts class. I don't really remember all of the rules anymore, but I'm pretty sure that is correct.

I was taught to say:
I will buy it, too.

I think that you add a coma because 'I will buy it' is a complete senence, while the word 'too' is not a complete sentence. When you add the two together, you must add a coma...that's just my view on this....
go figure!

I seriously believe that once the shows complete their theatrical runs that they will be released on DVD.

The DVD versions of Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar have perfomed pretty well and I see no reason why the Disney Broadway shows wouldn't do just as well.

I love seeing Broadway shows but lets face it, it's expensive for many people to go to the movies, much less a Broadway play! I live close enough that it can be a day trip for me but when you factor in plane fare and a hotel room, it's out of reach for so many people.

How great then, to offer these productions on DVD where they can be enjoyed by everyone across the nation!

Would you buy "Watching paint dry at Walt Disney World on DVD" Loomis?

How would the DVDs be made? Would they just be direct recordings of a live stage performance or would they be more like Universal's Lloyd Webber DVDs? In that they would be more like a mix of a show and a specially filmed movie?

I never got to buy this DVD before they put it back in the vault! I hope it doesn't stay on 10-year moratorium!

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the "Disneyland" content of the Wave 5 Treasures (surely they are running out of themes....).

It is a shame it is OOP, because there are many people who would like to own this piece of Disney (comes complete with Limted Edition number paint flecks from the old coat).

Actually, watching some musicals can be like watching paint dry, especially when you are not seeing them "live".

Actually, to go further with 2099's second point, it would depend largely on how the musicals were filmed. A badly filmed stage musical can be as boring as watching paint dry, because you get all of the sitting and staring, but none of the theatrics. It would actually be kinda tough to pull off, and in some ways defeat the purpose of the "live" versions of the films...

I'm not sure if I would or not. To me, the purpose of a Broadway show is to engage the audience in a theater experience. That's ruined when you watch a recording of it, because its virtually like watching a movie.

But I have to say, that if a recording of Beauty and the Beast came out on DVD, I'd most likely buy it, simply because its based on one of my all-time favorite movies. TLK I definately would not, as I saw it in person and really didn't like it.

Yes, I'd buy TLK at least, because I love the costumes and the songs so much . . . then again, you'd need to have a wraparound larger than life TV set to experience it, and even that wouldn't be enough . . . and that would be like Farenheit 451!!! AHHHH!!!!

As long as we're correcting people, it's comma

The comma isn't needed here, but there are some instances where a comma precedes "too." Maybe that's where you're confused, Jasmine.

Getting back to the subject at hand... Yes, I would buy these, but not until I first see them live.
