Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Has Disney fallen as low as this?

Kill. Me. Now. Please. Kill. Me.
Oh well I seem to have come late to this party! So I'll add a little more to my post.
Wow, Disney without Eisner is really going full steam ahead isn't it? Not only is 2011 full of sequel after sequel, but stuff which isn't a sequel is crap like this or College Road Trip, Old Dogs or Grounded. Or a Prince of Persia movie which is so Islamaphobic a Caucasian is going to be cast in the lead role (who's to bet the villain remains Arabic?) Plus we have the "delight" of a Hanna Montana movie coming next year too.

Oh. Dear. God.
I saw this trailer when I saw Prince Caspian the other night... The only thing I have to say is it's crap like this that makes me ashamed to be going into the Film Industry.

What do you think?
A puke on a bucket, mixed with some pus, crap and anything nasty would be more delightful for me

I'll admit i was laughing through the whole preview...a strange reaction upon the death of the seventh art, and yet another way to make us Mexicans seem even more as a cliche.
(I was amazingly hyper that day, i couldn't help myself...and I'm ashamed)
As if the film industry wasn't enough of a joke lately.

Re: Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Has Disney fallen as low as thi
For the record, the original Ubisoft version of "Prince of Persia" was also very Islamaphobic. Not only was the Prince very white, he had a VERY English accent, which clashed with his PERSIAN roots. So Disney ain't the first company to portray the Arabian Nights tales with white people2099net wrote:http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/be ... large.html

As for me, this kind of movies are just useful to give a wrong look to any culture(it doesn't mind if is just a latin culture) and to show how stupid can the public be.
Otherwise, why would someone ever do this kind of movies?
Forgive my honesty, and I am not saying that the film will be good, but I'm surprised that many are jumping into conclusions based on what is essentially a teaser trailer with NO actual film footage.
This could very well be the case of a bad trailer creating a false impression on the audience, and this is very common among films. I remember me and a friend of mine kept seeing all the "Wedding Crashers" ads and thinking it was just another shallow "frat boy" comedy. But we were surprised to learn that it was not only a really funny movie but one that had some emotion in its story.
Not saying that Beverly Hills Chihuahua will have that type of luck (especially if the story treatment is to be believed), but its somewhat unfair to believed that the teaser trailer (which is undeniably cheesy and grating) is the film's final value.
I remember people thinking Underdog was going to be stupid, but the final product turned out alright. It wasn't the best and it suffered from the same illnesses that plague many of today's family films, but it was much better than anyone expected.
So in short, no matter how much the trailer inspires a feeling of hate towards Disney, I think we should wait till we either have a much better trailer (which ACTUAL film footage) or someone sees it and offers a better review.
For all we know, we could be witnessing an extremely fun movie. Its just being marketed in the worst way possible.

That is a VERY good point, Pap64!
A lot of times I see a trailer and it just turns me off of a film, because some modern trailers seem targeted at a "lowest common denominator" mentality, trying to be "hip" and "edgy" and "irreverent". (There was even talk on here awhile back of some trailers for Platinum Editions resorting to bathroom humor that isn't even in the films!)
But then I see the film itself, and a lot of times these really crude or cheesy moments that dominate the trailer play just a very small role in a film that manages to be halfway decent (or even pretty good) and have a lot of heart, like you said.

I admit, it was "Wedding Crashers" that convinced me that studios sometimes sell the film in the worst way possible in hopes of gaining attention.David S. wrote:That is a VERY good point, Pap64!

When I saw the ads for the movie, I thought it was going to be about two detestable guys conning girls into having sex with them by cleverly crashing weddings.
But the film paints the story in a different way. Yes, the two characters are still conning people for the sake of sex and fun, but they are not so detestable. In fact, you learn that they have deep respect towards in each, Vince Vaughn's character going as far as to spending the night with his friend because on his birthday his friend lost both of his parents. Seriously, this is something NOT seen in many frat boy sex comedies. And the film goes even further by having both characters realizing that what they were doing was wrong and that they achieved a better ending by staying with just one girl.
And this is the movie that was shown to us as being a raunchy sex comedy in which the characters would get through very wacky adventures in their quest to get laid at weddings...
So after I watched the movie I decided to never judge a film by its advertising as they could be selling me something that isn't there or is forgetting something that could very well make this film worth watching.
Of course, not saying that Chihuahua will have this type of luck as we don't even have film footage. Just saying that we shouldn't be surprised if we somehow see the manage and end up being pleasantly surprised.

Is the link to the trailer that Netty posted the teaser trailer that was posted earlier (Quicktime videos don't work on my computer...)? I only could find the teaser trailer on YouTube, the same one that I watched a week or so ago, and I loved it even more. I love the teaser trailer. It's so catchy. I can't wait to see an actual trailer.
I really enjoyed "College Road Trip"...I guess I'm the target market for these types of films, because I really enjoy them. At least I'm excited...!

As if chihuahuas weren't inbred little ***** as it is. This is just gonna fuel more money for puppy mills and backyard breeders. As it is, those ones in the movie look inbred. Look at their legs and muzzles! The legs on the main one are so crooked! Everyone of these dog breed movies needs to have a disclaiming running under the picture at all times saying the truth about the breed....here I'll write one right now...
"Chihuahuas are nasty little f**** who will p*** and s*** on your carpet, couches, chairs, and beds to their dying days. They will shake and shiver, and likely bite a lot. They have heart and bone problems. They will cost you a lot of money at a vet. They are NOT accessories and should be kept on a leash, not in a purse for their whole lives. If you still get one BECAUSE of THIS stupid a** movie, you deserve one!"
With that said....yes, I had a chihuahua. For 14 years. Never ever again. I am a dog person, okay? I have dogs now. I've worked with dogs for well over 10 years now. And this is just one of those breeds I can't stand be as popular as they are because poor breeding practices and moron Paris Hilton wanna-bes who feed money to those puppy mills.
I also am sick of people treating dogs like accessories. They are dogs. Put them on a leash and walk them! I know one chihuahua...the owner held it so much, it lost movement in its legs. Literally, its legs were folding in the holding position. The owner never put it down because she was afraid the world was out to get her little dog. And now the dog suffers for her ignorance. He can't stretch his legs, can't walk on them. The poor thing.
Mind you, I do know some sweet chihuahuas....but they ALL will ruin any carpet and upholstery they have as they are well known to be hard to housebreak.
Also judging from the male's look. He's very Taco Bell chihuahua. Again, not standard in any dog circle I know of. I only hope the trainers adopted him. If they did, I hope they have a nice segment about that. At least if people would see they can get chihuahuas as shelters....and believe me, they are one of the top toy group dogs to end up in shelters, then maybe people will adopt one rather than buy. One can hope.
