Aladdin from Agrabah's Fanart

Wait, why wouldn't I say anything about Al's art if I like it? And thank you for what you said about my other posts, the same goes for other posts of yours as well.

In all honesty, though I would like to see Alfromag do new high-lighted ans shaded art, the ones done in paint are more like what animation can do. Shadows are usually blocks of color, there's no shading or blending. Now, later films like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin have some computer-done blending, I think. The five features before Cinderella do have some blending, or other techniques other than shadows of pure color. But no animated feature has the amount of detail this new picture of Hercules has, that I can recall.

So anyway...I want to see my characters that maybe never had such luxurious details get that treatment from Alfromag, but I'm also saying without it, it resembles the original more. But it's about how Al sees, interprets, and wants the characters.

I love the Hercules picture Al, definatley one of my favorites so far. One thing I like is how the flame on the torch looks, very nice. I"m not seeing what UF said about the hand though, it looks normal to me.

However one thing I noticed that's a bit odd is on Herc's shoulder there's nothing holding the armor/chestpiece up or is it supposed to be that way?

I know I already commented on this piece over on DA (I'm Werecatboy over there), but I just wanted to say once again, that I love this picture. I think that truly is one of your best. I love the shading and the use of shadows, like the glow of the torch against Herc's chestplate.

I also wanted to quick say that I love the ones of young Phillip and Queen Grimhilde in your gallery. I know I already commented on them and faved them, but I wanted to say again that I think they're great.

I wouldn't, at least, have anaylzed another person's posts on another person's artwork, simply because, there shouldn't be a fight in the thread...

No hard feelings, right?

I'm glad you liked using the pen, Al. I've wanted to try that out before myself. I also can't wait to see any more pictures using it from you.

Well, that doesn't have anything to do with liking Al's art, in fact it shows I like it, because I'm saying someone didn't say enough on Al's art. Anyway, no hard feelings, but I never intended a fight in the first place. In all honesty, I just said "that's all one person can say? Well I'm saying this", and I kind of wanted to counter-balance your response. Then you took it from there.

One criticism I now have of the picture is the fire. I don't think it looks off, I don't think it looks wrong, it just looks like it could be done better. The highlights and other non-linear (line) details for Herc's hair and breastplate work well, but not for the fire. I don't think fire should look so similar effects wise. I think some brighter, more...ethereal effects should be applied. So it looks more like light than material. But it's hard explaining what I mean. Also, I realize that your effects may more perfectly match the movie's own stylized fire than what I'm talking about.

wow, al :) you're still going strong. i love hercules, it seems more lifelike than the other ones (because you're using a different medium)

if i may throw my two cents in for UF and DisneyDuster...DisneyDuster, you did pick a fight. If you wanted to say that you thought it was better than great, than just say that. There is no reason do go dissecting and analyzing everybody elses' posts like you're trying to be better than them. Nobody else picks as many fights as you, much less never letting it drop. stop picking fights over dumb little details. as UF said "not everything you think is right". you're not the almighty artist, you're not a god. you're just a 20 year old boy with nothing better to do than pick fights on a forum. ouch.

anyway, fabulous work al from ag =)

Oh, a question-when you said Jasmine was your favorite, did you mean the jasmine and raja one or the one of jasmine in her "sexy outfit"? there are probably more of her i'm just blanking on...but i was just curious.

Alfromag's Fanart

Post by Disney Duster »

Well Jasmine1022 I see what you mean, but I wasn't trying to start a fight. Rather, I wanted to remark that Al's picture was a combination of new, harder techniques and I thought he would feel like no one noticed. Yes, it's true. I wasn't saying UmbrellaFish was a bad poster or anything, just "is that all you can say?" and "nothing's wrong with that hand!"

Anyway...uh, Al, what did you think about what I said about the new art styles you are trying in regards to how the film's originally look? Or anything else I said (that was about your art specifically)?

Alfromag's Fanart

Post by Disney Duster »

Aw, thank you for saying all that Alfromag! I can't wait to see what you do next, as you're just beginning to explore and develop new techniques and styles. You're art looks very professional, better than so much official Disney art (that's not in the films). I heard they pay very little money for people in other countries to make merchandise art like "clipart". Makes sense, that must be how we always get lower quality stuff, it comes from low-paid people in countries far away from the official Disney buildings.

It's been a while since I've actually posted rather than lurking. I'm glad to see you are still drawing awesome Disney fan art, Aladdin from Agrabah! :) And it's exciting to know that you got a drawing tab for your computer! The Hercules came out really nice.

Everyone's saying their favorite AFA art but I couldn't find my favorite in the older posts. It was the one of Alice and Wendy you did a while ago. Where did it go? I had it saved on my computer, but my hard drive crashed a few months ago and I lost it. :(

About the artwort u can't find anymore, well, it's just because, when looking at it again I wasn't pleased with what I was looking at. So u know, I just want to share with u only the best of me and that drawing, among others, according to my (new) standards, didn't match that definition.
You're welcome! :)
I guess I understand about not presenting your old art work. I think it's very good, but if you aren't comfortable sharing it, then you are welcome to keep the old work private. I look forward to seeing your new things and I'm glad you're having fun with them!

Welcome back Aladdin, you've been missed ! :)

Honestly the all look fantastic as usual, but one could easily mistake the last one with Cinderella to be straight out of the actual movie. Good Job !
