The Official The Veronicas Thread

Post by blackcauldron85 »

http://www.theveronicas.com/indexhtml.html#aboutanchor
(that link is their official "About" page).

I liked The Veronicas ever since I first heard their debut single, "4Ever". I was doing my Christmas shopping at Target in December 2005 ( I think it was Christmas shopping I was doing, & I think it was in December, but Amazon says it came out in Feb. 2006...???), and I didn't know that the CD was even out yet, and, lo and behold, it was, so I bought it. It's one of my favorite CDs.

I love all the songs on the CD,...it's that good. I was going to list my favorite songs, but I'd pretty much be listing all of them.

The only artists that I can think of comparing them to is Avril Lavigne and Ashlee Simpson, but they're different from those two...

I'm not sure when their second album will be coming out, but I can't wait for it!

Yeah, The Veronicas are way cool. They're hugely popular with both the tween and teen markets, and they've had 5 hit singles from their first album. I don't know where you guys in the US are up to, but after 4Ever(2), there's Everything I'm Not (7), When It All Falls Apart (7), Revolution (18) and then Leave Me Alone (41) as singles. The numbers in brackets are where they got to on the singles chart in Australia. the first four have videos, the last one didn't. Their album got to 2 in Oz, and has gone 4 times platinum. In December they released the CD/DVD called "Exposed- The secret life of the Veronicas" and that went to 3 on the DVD charts, going 3 times platinum. It has a documentary of their tour, a live CD and all the videos on it. They're really huge now, because they're launching a new clothing line and it's really popular among kids. They're working on their new album in LA and are nearly done with it, so hopefully Oz can get some more singles before the end of the year.

We had "4Ever" & "When It All Falls Apart". I thought that "Everything I'm Not" was released here, but I recently read that the above 2 were the ones officially released here- I must've watched the video for EIN on their website...

Billboard.com says that their album made it to #3 on the Top Heatseakers chart, & # 133 on the Top 200 chart. "4Ever" made it to #20 on Hot Dance Club Play, & # 88 on Pop 100. I guess WIAFA didn't chart...?

Yeah, I saw that a week ago, I love it too. It's my favourite Veronicas song since 4Ever, and it's really catchy. The video clip is very Ta.Tu isn't it? If they got any more "sisterly", the video wouldn't be suitable for their target audience any more. The song comes from their 2nd studio album, rumourd to be titled "The Secret Diaries of...", which is released in Australia on the 3rd of November, and rumoured to be released in the US a week later.
November is going to be a big month for me in terms of CD releases. The Veronicas (Untitled), Britney Spears (Untitled), Nicole Scherzinger (Her Name Is Nicole), Sugababes (Change) and The Spice Girls (Greatest Hits) all have new albums out so it's going to be tough buying them all, and their corresponding singles.

I agree. In the comments section of the Myspace video, some people I guess didn't realize that they are sisters...

I'm really excited for their new CD to come out- yay!

Hey BC85, and anyone else reading this thread other than her. :P Well, Hook Me Up, the second studio album release from The Veronicas happened last November, and it nearly topped the Aussie charts, peaking at no.2. The single Hook Me Up, however, was even more successful, peaking at no. 1, providing Lisa and Jess with their first ever no. 1 single. Untouched, their second single, has been popular too, peaking at 2, and sampling the song "Boys of Summer", resulting in its Aussie summer anthem status.
Hook Me Up wasn't intended to be released in the US, following the originals less than stellar sellings, but it apparently is, following this info from StarsVip.com-
The Veronicas to Release New Album -- "Hook Me Up" -- on Sire Records in May
Aussie Twin Sisters Introduce Their New Electro-Pop Sound With First Single "Untouched," Impacting Radio in April

BURBANK, CA--(Marketwire - February 14, 2008) - The Veronicas -- Aussie twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso -- will release their second album, an electro-pop confection entitled "Hook Me Up," in May 2008 on Sire Records.

The album represents a stylistic leap from the girls' 2006 debut "The Secret Life Of..." by swapping the latter's pop-punk leanings for "Hook Me Up's" dance friendly, beat-driven feel that showcases the sisters' expert song craft, organic vocal chemistry, and sophisticated sense of humor. Those qualities have led The Veronicas to huge success in Australia. "Hook Me Up" is well on its way to double platinum status Down Under with sales of 130,000 and has spawned their first #1 single with the title track. The Veronicas' debut album, "The Secret Life Of..." sold more than 300,000 copies, scored three of their five Top 10 singles, won a slew of awards (including a coveted ARIA), and made the Brisbane natives, now 23, international stars.

"It's been more than two years since we wrote the first record so our musical tastes have changed a bit," Lisa says. "We've been living in Los Angeles where we got into the whole electro-pop rock scene. When it came time to write the new album, we were really inspired by it musically." Adds Jess: "We didn't want to make a record that was the same as the first. We definitely wanted to create a different sound for ourselves and reinvent The Veronicas."

Recorded in Los Angeles, CA, mostly in Lisa and Jess's Hollywood Hills home, "Hook Me Up" led the pair to collaborate with a host of top-notch hit makers, including Shelly Peiken (Christina Aguilera), Greg Wells (Mika), John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte), and the legendary Billy Steinberg (Madonna), and their "Secret Life" collaborator Toby Gad, who also wrote Fergie's 2007 hit "Big Girls Don't Cry."

"With Toby, we'd gossip and tell him all the drama in our lives," Lisa says. Adds Jess: "That's why a lot of the songs we wrote with him come across as emotional and dramatic. I'd have to say this record is even more personal than the first one, which was hard because the first record was very much us." The collaboration resulted in eight tracks, from the album's first single "Untouched," to such razor-edged epics as "This Is How It Feels" and "Revenge Is Sweeter," through to the funky "Take Me On The Floor" and "Popular." "It's a very upbeat dance record, though there are a few ballads on there," Jess says. "It came out exactly how we wanted it to, so we're stoked."

"Hook Me Up" is the beginning of a new chapter in The Veronicas' stateside career. "The Secret Life Of..." was released by Sire Records in February 2006 and debuted at Number Three on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. Named an AOL Breaker band and called "Australia's rockingest twins" by Blender, the girls were also praised by Entertainment Weekly for making "most of their female pop-rock rivals seem like jugheads." Indeed, critics agreed that The Veronicas were "the real thing," as the New York Post put it.

The Veronicas have recently completed a tour of Australia and are now gearing up for the U.S. release of "Hook Me Up." Tour plans for the summer TBA.
Sounds cool right? I'm sure their US fans will be happy, Untouched should be the first US single from it, maybe we'll get a new video!
Anyways, I was researching their first single 4ever on wikipedia, and this quote appeared on it's page-
In 2005, Kim Possible released its Season 3 premier episode "Emotion Sickness". This episode featured the possible relationship between Kim Possible villians, Shego and Drakken. The Veronicas were Kim Possible fans and decided to redo "4Ever" as a promotional video for the episode, which contained clips of Drakken and Shego and The Veronicas dressed in green and black, Shego's signature colors. The Kim Possible version of the song was planned to be put on the third Kim Possible music album along with a song by Nicole Sullivan (Shego's voice actress) called "With Envy". Disney however axed plans for this album and instead invested in the CD releases of "Hannah Montana", "High School Musical" and "Jump In". 4Ever was later put on the 2006 "Girls Next" CD with no mention of Kim Possible. The Veronicas were quoted as saying "Well... jeez... I mean we thought they were gonna make a new Kim Possible CD with our song on it. Oh well!"

Nicole Sullivan's song for Shego, "With Envy", was put on the Disney Mix Japanese Album. This song and "4Ever" were never actually featured in an episode.
Is this true? If it is, I'd love to see that promo clip, I searched YouTube, couldn't find it. Was it promoted on Disney Channel? I really wanna know if it's true or not...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you soooo much for posting that, James!!! That's AWESOME! Oh, I'm so excited! :) I was worried that they wouldn't release the new CD here...but they will be!

That really makes my day!

As far as the "Kim Possible" clip, I haven't heard about it, and I just searched for it, and I can't find anything.

Thanks again! :)

No problem BC85! I know how similiar our music tastes are, so it's just cool to let someone else know what's happening with music. That sucks about the KP thing, I'm starting to think someone made it up, I doubt that it would've happened. We would've heard about it. Thanks for searching though. :)

I'm a new The Veronicas fan, and I absolutely love them!!!! They are supposed to be appearing on an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, or did that already happen? :?

I listened to their newest album, and on iTunes it says "Parental Advisory: Explicit Content", which is just crap. The CD is not bad at all, and you can hardly even hear the swear words because of the other sounds going on.

EDIT: Just heard them say the "F" word in "This is How it Feels." Disregard the above paragraph. :P

Anyway, they are very awesome.

Is there any music like theirs, because I'd love to hear it.

It's already happened, they appeared in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody episodes 64 and 65 i think, titled "Goes Hollywood" or something.
Just in news, Lisa's engaged, she's the hotter, shorter twin, blacker hair, sweeter features i guess.
She's engaged to Australian Idol- Season 4 contestant Dean geyer, who also currently appears in the Australian soap "Neighbours". He also stars as Lisa's BF in the video clip to This Love.
Oh and Jess is reportedly bisexual, as she was seen canoodling with some MTV chick at Aussie Fashion Week, near Mischa Barton and Miranda Kerr

Were they on "Suite Life Goes Hollywood"? I missed that last year when it aired, and I haven't been able to catch it in reruns since. I had a feeling that they filmed for a newer episode (meaning this year...), but I could be wrong.

Ah, yeah, i think that Jess did have one recently, evident in the This Love clip, but yeah they've most likely broken up.
And nope, they were in it BC85-
62/63 "The Suite Life Goes Hollywood" April 20, 2007
When Zack and Cody get discovered by talent scouts, the Tipton staff goes to Hollywood to watch a pilot of Zack and Cody's lives being filmed. Meanwhile, Maddie and London decide to sneak into a movie set and the director mistakes them for the movie's stunt doubles.
Guest Star: Jennifer Tisdale, Dante Basco, Sam McMurray, The Veronicas.

Note: The Veronicas preform their song "Cry" when asked to sing in front of the audience.
and remember that Untouched (single), and Hook Me Up (album) were released on May 13th, so go buy them!
Oh, and they're supporting Natasha Bedingfield in the US, on her tour. So go see em if u want, they're awesome live.

Thanks for clearing that up, James! I'll definitely have to look on YouTube for the episode, then!

I need to download the album on Amazon sometime- it's $9.99. I still want to get Ashlee Simpson's newest album, too! There are so many albums coming out this year that I want...I need to save my money!
