Awesome news. I still have my "special edition" copy from a few years ago, which is now OoP obviously. A couple of my friends at work will be really glad to hear this news though.

If this re-release has some really good new bonus features or some other reason to make me want it I'll probably get it. Then again... I'll probably get it no matter what just to go with my "collection" of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff :D
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

The special edition is still in stores in Australia... I wonder if we're receiving this upgrade.

(I'd buy it if it were the 3D version)

so from now on TNBC is officially a walt disney's release? im so glad its returned to to the original parent studio..

after all the reason it was touchstoned was because disney isnt ready to be associated with PG animated films.

this is like oswald returning home. kind of.

akhenaten-The 3D trailer also said it's Disney,I"m glad they show it :D.
If it will come here on 2 discs (Unlike Sleeping Beauty,I think) then I might ask my uncle or aunt to buy it to me on my birthday,I"ll have to see.

you should...the previous one was letterboxed and it degrades the video quality. had it already been anamorphic i would just upgrade to the blu ray edition..now i guess ill have to buy both dvd n bluray..just in case.

The only reason I'd upgrade is if it keeps most of the features from the previous disc and adds more.

I own corpse bride on blue ray and unlike with the dvd's release one can easily say this new transfer rocks!

I must say though that for the most part I was more impressed with the
overall new sound than with the upgraded imagery.

As for extra's their a bit slim, on the plus side what is there is good!
I just hope The NBC is treated the same way, with more extra's undoubtedly

I also have the Corpse Bride on bluray as all of you might expect, and yeah it is beautiful even though the colours are mostly dark.

You know I think animation on Bluray is much more beautiful than live action in the format, there's obviously a more prominant difference between the resoloution of a DVD and the one on a Bluray when the movie is animated rather than when it's just real, that's why mostly I like to upgrade my animated movies more than the live action movies that I already own on DVD.

I think these films will probably be the most beautiful since they have a lot of nice details when you look at the background and the colours are really easy on the eyes :

-Beauty & the Beast (The intro will be amazing in Hi-Def)
-Sleeping Beauty (GET IT WHILE U CAN !)
-Aladdin (Thank God it's not part of the PEs, we'll get it sooner !)
-Alice in Wonderland (Damn it BVHE I don't want it to be part of the PEs)

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has just unveiled details about the upcoming Blu-Ray Disc version of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Enter an extraordinary world filled with magic and wonder-where every holiday has its own special land...and imaginative, one-of-a-kind characters! “The Nightmare Before Christmas” tells the heartfelt tale of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town and al things that go bump in the night. Bored with the same old tricks and treats, he yearns for something more and soon stumbles upon the glorious magic of Christmas Town. But as his dream to fill Santa's shoes unravels, it's up to Sally, the rag doll who loves him, to stitch things back together.
The Blu-Ray version will feature a 1080p high definition transfer with high definition audio. As a brand new extra the release will also include an Introduction by Tim Burton as well as a Commentary Track by Tim Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman. Also look for a number of Featurettes covering the making of the movie, including a Tour of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride. Further, the release will feature an Original Poem by Tim Burtn, narrated by Christopher Lee. As another bonus feature you will find Tim Burton’s early Short Film “Vincent” on the disc, also.
The release will also mark Disney’s first foray into the Digital Copy realm, as the disc will include a digital copy of the film for download on mobile devices for viewing.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” will arrive on August 26 with a $39.99 sticker price. A 2-disc Collector’s Edition DVD – sans the introduction – will also be released on the same day for $32.99.
